In Edo State, he completed his primary and high school education. While in secondary school, he began singing and rapping. Church was also an important part of his early musical experiences, as it was where he began making frequent rap performances with pals. At the age of 14, he had acquired enough popularity in the church to be named ‘rap nation leader’ by the congregation, and he began coaching other younger rappers. But by the age of 15, he had lost both his father and his older brother. His love of music helped him persist through the ups and downs that life threw at him. He was influenced by artists such as Michael Jackson and 2Face, as well as gospel singers such as Frank Edwards and TB1. He was also influenced by the era of Mo’ hits. D’Prince invited Rema from Benin City to Lagos after seeing the video go popular on social media and introducing him to the Mavin Records family. Rema signed a record deal on March 22, 2023, with D’Prince’s Jonzing World, a division of Mavin Records. He launched his first EP, Rema, in 2023, and it reached the top spot on Apple Music Nigeria. His official first song, “Iron Man,” off his self-titled debut EP, captures the sense of wonder that comes from encountering something extraordinary but remarkable. Rema’s ‘Iron Man’ also made Barack Obama’s 2023 Sure Playlist, ranking 42 out of 44 songs that Obama and his wife were listening to in the summer of 2023. Drake, Jay Z, Beyonce, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Frank Sinatra, Rihanna, DJ Khaled, and Robin Thicke are among the other worldwide stars on the playlist. He created history in June 2023 when he became the first Nigerian musician to premiere top tracks on Apple Music. Rema has received numerous prizes since his debut in the Nigerian music industry, including Next Rated and a nomination for Viewer’s Choice at the 13th edition of The Headies. On January 12, 2023, he was awarded the Sound City MVP for best new artist. Rema, Rema Freestyle, and Bad Commando are among his EPs, and Iron Man, Bad Commando, Dumebi, Corny, American Love, and Lady are among his singles. Rema was nominated for Best Viewer’s Choice: International Act on Bet Awards as well. He was also nominated for a BET Award, alongside music icons Burna Boy and Wizkid. Rema Cars & Houses Rema, like every other artist on board, has a great fondness for showy and opulent cars; see below for a list of his vehicles and his role as a BMW brand ambassador. Rema has been extremely fortunate since entering the spotlight; the majority of the flashy cars he owns were presented to him as part of the prizes he received from various awards. He received his GAC SUV 5.7 litre V8 after winning the next ranked prize at the 2019 Headies awards. The BMW Beamer was presented to him as an honorary prize by the BMW Club of Nigeria in recognition of his promotion of the brand through his song “Beamer” (Bad Boys). He was greeted with pomp and circumstance at the EKO Atlantic Hotel in Lagos. He also purchased a 2010 Lexus Rx 350 for his mum. Rema prefers to maintain a low profile, especially when it comes to his personal life. He did, however, show off his Lekki Mansion during a live Instagram session with his fans last year. Endorsement Deals Rema’s hit songs, particularly Dumebi, drew a lot of attention, and the firm that convinced him to sign an endorsement deal with them happens to be the HP brand, and he looks to be the first Nigerian to do so. Rema also acquired an endorsement deal with Monster Energy Drink, which he shared with Fireboy DML, and this has massively increased Rema net worth. Net Worth Rema has amassed a fortune thanks to the number of streams and endorsement deals he has secured. With a net worth of $1 million, he is one of Nigeria’s and Africa’s youngest-richest musicians. Social Media

You may recall that in 2015, an altercation had broke out at the Headies event when Reekado Banks had won the Next-Rated Award over Lil Kesh. This didn’t sit right with Olamide who mounted the stage to say that the award, which comes with a brand new car, was meant to be given to the YBNL signee, Lil Kesh.

After he and his entourage left the stage, Don Jazzy also climbed the stage to address Olamide saying that if he wants the car, he should come take it. Don Jazzy who recalled the incident in an interview with Doyin, said that it hadn’t been an appropriate thing to do. He added that he had regretted what he had said immediately he left the stage; although, he has long apologized to Olamide and the Headies organizers for his behavior.
