Manchester United have crashed out of the Champions League following a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in front of their home fans. The Red Devils who had pinned their hopes on a victory against the German powerhouse and a favourable result in Galatasaray’s clash with Copenhagen, have now been disappointed all round. Erik ten Hag’s squad struggled to make an impact in the game, and Kingsley Coman scored a 70th-minute strike to hand United a last-place finish in Group A. Harry Kane’s brilliance set the tone for Coman’s finish, having delivered a sublime pass. Manchester City (89 points – 1st place) opted for a largely rotated side, with seven non-regular starters getting the nod. Guardiola rested some of his big hitters ahead of next weekend’s FA Cup final. City will also play the Champions League final seven days later.

It also ended Manchester City’s 25-match unbeaten run.
