Man Bolt Rider Ibadan

A Nigerian man named Tizza recently shared a harrowing experience on his social media page, recounting how he was attacked and came close to losing his life by a Bolt rider in Ibadan. According to his statement, a distressing incident occurred a few days ago when Tizzy accepted a ride request from a (Bolt) rider.

While on the journey, a dispute arose regarding the fare for the trip. Tizzy attempted to communicate and negotiate with the rider, but instead of resolving the issue peacefully, the rider resorted to violence. He strangled Tizzy, assaulted him with punches, and nearly caused his death. His statement “Hello everyone, I’m a business man that work within Lagos and Ibadan, one of what I’m into is Uber/ bolt driver…. An incident happened to me yesterday, I picked up a bolt rider opposite university of Ibadan second gate , he was going to oluyole sharp coner close to kuola area.” “This guy strangled me , punch my face and almost killed me yesterday, I’ve to pretend as if I’ve fainted. I picked the guy up and he told me to wait that his friend is joining the ride, his friend came and entered my car and the friend told me that I was going to drop me at Uch hospital, then I told the guy that it’s a different route for where he ordered on the app.” “Then the guy started the argument and I kept quiet but I made my point clear that I’ve been doing bolt driver in Ibadan for 3yrs now , that if the app doesn’t read they will add the price for the trip to drop his friend at Uch to the 3,700 on the app, so after I dropped is friend.”

“After 5mins of pretending to have fainted he left me and told me that sabi I still get strength now, make I come fight again now, I just ran out of the gate and when to pick up my phone in my car and made a video clip of how my face look” “He told me to call my account number which is opay and he dropped from my car without showing me the receipt for the money he sent , when I was about entering the house, I ask if he had sent the money, he say yeah. Then I checked my opay and found the 3,800 balance.”

“I went to drop him at his house, when I got to his house, I ended the trip and the price was 3,800, so 100naira was added for the paid waiting time before he entered my car of about 9mins paid waiting, and I showed the guy that the trip didn’t read for the movement of is friend.”  “Then I dropped from my car and opened the gate to the house to call his notice to the money he sent, that it was not our agreement not to add to the fare, then next action was the guy started harassing me and tell my I’m very stupid for coming inside his gate to meet him.” “Before I could realize myself, he already throw me on the ground and started punching my face with my mouth and head, and didn’t stop strangling my neck, I was even shouting at the top of my voice that what will he gain if he kills me, then I just had to pretend like I fainted.” “I tried calling him and he already blocked my line, my friend tried help me chatting him up and he said he’s in Lagos.”

“I asked for the amount of the trip and he told me 3,700 before I started the ride, then I told me that he’s going to add to the fare for me going to drop is friend at Uch , then we all start arguing that the app is going to read for all the trip and i immediately said app no read.”  “I’ve gone to kuola police station to report him and the police got my statement down and ordered some officers to go along with me to his house, the gate was locked the first time we check, we went back today again and the agent we met told us he dropped the key to the house.”  “@Boltapp_ng a rider almost strangled me to death at his residence, pls legal actions have been taken on this! It’s has been reported to kuola police station and barrister Kunle ishola has looked into the matter, the son to the former governor of oyo state!!!”  WATCH VIDEO BELOW: Hello everyone, I’m a business man that work within Lagos and Ibadan, one of what I’m into is Uber/ bolt driver…. How I almost lost my phone to a thief in Ibadan “Tell me why I went for a wedding in Ibadan today and ended up doing 100m sprint on Iwo road because this guy pickpocketed my phone and tried to run away in a cab. We were all walking from the church to the reception venue on a narrow road when I perceived terrible body odor. I smelt him before I saw him, I had to look back to see who the smelly person was. Then I made way for him to move forward, but he motioned to me to walk ahead, acting all gentlemanly.

Phone thief caught while attempting to escape in a cab. When we got to the main road, I noticed that my phone was no longer in my bag. I instantly knew it was him, I looked around and I saw him already walking far ahead in the opposite direction of the venue. I told my colleagues that my phone was gone and I started to jog towards him, I didn’t call out to him cos I didn’t want him to notice me and start to run. Next thing I saw him enter a cab and the cab started moving. That was when I started running and shouting “stop the cab! Ole ole!” People didn’t hear me at first, Then someone saw me running and shouting and quickly stopped the cab. I got to the cab and asked him for my phone, the idiot said “it fell on the floor and he picked it” he even had the audacity to ask if it was my phone. The people around dragged him from the cab and started slapping him. I shouted at him and cursed him but I didn’t want anyone to beat. I left him shortly after and walked back to where my colleagues were, it was while I was walking back that I realized that one of my colleagues had followed me while I was running towards the thief. I must have been a sight to behold: Me running in a black jumpsuit, face full of makeup, looking all fine and running like a mad women screaming “stop the cab! Ole ole!” I think the bravery came from thought of all my bank info on the phone.
I ran for all my previous phones that had been pickpocketed, it was a vengeance-fueled race. 😭” Watch the video below … Tell me why I went for a wedding in Ibadan today and ended up doing 100m sprint on Iwo road because this guy pickpocketed my phone and tried to run away in a cab. pic.twitter.com/feA5VjPCQG — Oh (@OsamudiamenOO) June 3, 2023

UK nursing council to probe 512 Nigerians who wrote exam in Ibadan centre

Nigerians who wrote an exam at a computer-based test (CBT) centre in Ibadan, are now being investigated by the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) following speculation of their result being “fraudulent or not correct”. The NMC said Pearson VUE which runs the computer-based Test of Competence (ToC) to assess the skills and knowledge of people applying to join its register from overseas, recently raised the alarm of “anomalous data” at one of its third-party CBT centres in Ibadan. The statement added that while 1,970 candidates took their CBT at this centre, only 512 are on the NMC register. Candidates who participated in the exam at the centre have been asked to retake the test. The statement read; “A total of 512 people on our register (around five percent of all the professionals on our register who qualified in Nigeria) took their CBT at this test centre.

“We’re writing to them to set out what’s happened and to tell them we’re opening cases to determine whether or not they gained fraudulent or incorrect entry to the register. “More people have applied to join the register but are not yet on it, therefore they can’t practise as a nurse or midwife. We’ve paused their applications. “We’re writing to these applicants to ask them to retake the test, and to request more information that we’ll use to make a final decision about their applications. “Pearson VUE has reviewed all data relating to the NMC’s CBT from every test site globally, and there is no evidence of similar activity at any other site. “Our paramount concern is to maintain the integrity of the register to protect the public. At the same time, it’s critical we approach any investigations about individuals objectively and transparently, avoiding any unfair discrimination.”

Police arrest seven in connection to officer’s death in Ibadan clash

Seven suspects have been apprehended by the police in connection to a conflict in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, which resulted in the death of an officer. According to Adewale Osifeso, the police spokesperson in the state, one of the suspected hoodlums attempted to take the officer’s gun, hitting him on the head, which ultimately led to his death. Osifeso also disclosed that the police operatives from Moniya Area Command, under the Oyo State Police Command, were attacked while performing their duties on a lawful intelligence-led Stop and Search near a significant black spot. Furthermore, the police have confiscated 12 motorcycles from suspects involved in the incident. The event occurred when the team of operatives, led by Inspector Stanley Ikhine, was on patrol, and they stopped an ash-colored Lexus 350 Jeep with an almost-erased number. The vehicle initially complied with the officers’ orders but then rapidly accelerated, evading the officers on duty. This suspicious action resulted in the police pursuing the vehicle. A few meters from the initial stoppage point, the Jeep turned off the road into a nearby garage, where it was taken by waiting hoodlums who were also involved in the criminal process, obstructing the officers from performing their duties and aiding the SUV and its occupants’ escape. The hoodlums unprovokedly attacked the officers and attempted to take a rifle from one of them. In the process, a shot was discharged from the barrel, and unfortunately, the brave officer paid the ultimate price, receiving a severe blow to his skull from one of the hoodlums while preventing them from taking his firearm. The officer’s remains have been deposited at the state morgue in Ibadan.
