In related news, a toddler said to be about two years and five months old boy was attacked and killed by two dogs belonging to his family at Umuotube village farm road, Chokota Community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers. The father of the boy(names withheld) told Nigeriainfo.fm Port Harcourt on Tuesday that the two dogs who attacked the toddler on Monday have also been killed with lethal injections. It was learnt that the tragic incident happened when the parents of the toddler had left for work. A seven-year-old girl who was a sibling of the deceased toddler had gone to set the dogs and loosened them from their cage to feed them. But the dogs attacked the toddler immediately after they were set free. It was learnt that after killing the child, they attempted to feed on the innocent boy’s flesh. Narrating the tragic incident, an eyewitness said: “When the dogs pounced on the little boy, his seven years old sister tried to rescue him from their grip dogs by hitting them with a stick, but they would not let go until the boy was killed. Through the shout for help from the girl, neighbours rushed into the compound, but boy was already dead.” Speaking on the development, the traditional ruler of the Community, Ndubuisi Nwankwo, advised residents to employ human beings for their security instead of using dogs, especially foreign breeds which are very wild and unfriendly to young children. “We advice the members of the community and owners of wild foreign dogs to exercise caution and stop the use of foreign dogs. but to employ the services of registered security personnel. We must all join hands to eliminate criminalities that warrant the rearing of foreign wild dogs”, he said.
