Popular media personality, Shade Ladipo has roundly excoriated famous musician Burna Boy after he revealed the reasons for his silence during the 2023 elections.

The singer is known for his politically conscious tracks some of which addressed the 20.10.20 incident and others criticizing bad governance. Following calls by fans to speak up during this epoch-making event, the ‘Odogwu’ crooner explained that he doesn’t believe in any of the candidate presently running for the election.

However, Shade Ladipo, in a post on her Instagram page, note to the musician that he should have promoted voters participation. She called him a clown and an opportunist who take advantage of African issues to promote his music. See her post below:

Popular comedian Bright Okpocha known well as Basket Mouth has explained the reason why he couldn’t vote in the 2023 elections.

According to Basket Mouth, he could cast his vote because shows outside of Nigeria and his international shows were planned a year before to secure a good venue. He added that he couldn’t come back to Nigeria to cast his vote because it would have caused him logistical hazards, hence his inability to vote in the presidential elections. HE WROTE: I HAVE ALWAYS SPOKEN UP ABOUT THE WRONGS IN THIS COUNTRY. IT’S QUITE UNFORTUNATE THAT I MISSED THE ELECTIONS THIS YEAR. Ben Ayade loses senatorial election in Cross River

Incumbent Senator, Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe defeated Governor Ben Ayade in the National Assembly elections held on Saturday in Cross River North. 2023 Elections: Ayade loses senatorial election in Cross River Ayade, who previously served in the Senate from 2011 to 2015, garnered 56,595 votes while Agom-Jarigbe, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), received 76,145 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC‘s returning officer, Dr. Emmanuel Emanghe, declared the results of the polls at around 3:05 a.m. on Monday 27th February 2023. As he concludes his second term as Governor of Cross River State, Ayade competed for the position of Senator representing the Northern senatorial district of the state, attempting to unseat Agom-Jarigbe which failed.

“They want to eliminate me”

A mother of five has claimed that her life is being threatened after sharing a video at her polling unit on election day. The video showed how INEC officials were allegedly manipulating their results in Apapa, Lagos State.

In an update, she lamented that they wanted to eliminate her because she refused to negotiate or accept any form of incentive to take her video down. She maintained that despite the threat to her life, the most important thing for her is the genuineness of the results being presented by INEC. In her words:
“Good afternoon guys I’m Eunice the labour party candidate for Apapa federal constituency in Lagos and I am the one that uploaded the video showing us how INEC officials were manipulating our results early this morning about 4, 5 a.m. “The problem now is that they are threatening me they won’t eliminate me because I refuse to negotiate or accept any form of incentive to stand down my activities to help us” Watch the video below:

Gabriella, the daughter of presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, and her husband were recently spotted at their polling unit in Anambra state. The doting couple had arrived in the area to show their support for their candidate, Peter Obi, on election day.

Friends of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, also joined the host of others to show their support for him. Gabriella and her hubby were seen in simple outfits while carrying out their civic duties.

Gabriella also exchanged pleasantries with familiar faces she saw at the polling unit. Tension has been heightened amongst Nigerians as they await the final declaration of the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, is declared the winner of Saturday’s presidential election conducted in Enugu State.

He defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and his counterpart Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress who polled 15,749 and 4772 votes respectively while Obi had 428,640 votes. The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, polled a total of 1,808 to record the fifth position. According to the collation officer, and Vice-Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Professor Maduebibisi Iwea announced that a total of 2,112,793 voters were registered for the election, while accredited voters for the election were 482,990. Iwe also noted that the total valid votes are 456,424, rejected votes 12,467 and total votes cast were 468,891 respectively. Peter Obi won all 17 local government areas of the state in a landslide.

The general elections which kicked off on the 25 of February 2023 leave many in a state of anxiety as the collation of results continues across the country. A young child, however, is seen in a trending video crying out her eyes while praying for Peter Obi to win the election.
