The singer who disclosed that she is a first-time voter, said she voted yesterday and it was peaceful. Asa however noted that she is saddened that people were attacked in Lagos. Malam Attahiru Madami, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Kwara state, stated that the outcome of Polling Unit 10 in Tsaragi will be invalidated due to an incident of ballot box snatching by miscreants on Saturday.

Madami explained to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the decision to cancel the results aligns with the regulations governing the election process. He attributed the delay in the arrival of INEC officials and materials to certain parts of Ilorin West and subsequent disruption in the commencement of voting at the Registration Area Centre (RAC). “It took us up to 11a.m. before will finished the distribution of logistic and immediately I knew we are starting late. I extended the time of voting until the last person on queue voted”, he said According to the REC, ballot boxes were stolen from just one out of the 2,887 polling units in Kwara, indicating a low incidence of such incidents. Additionally, the commission did not utilize vehicles belonging to any of the political parties participating in the election to distribute materials, contrary to rumours.

According to reports gathered from the commission’s official Twitter page, the 3 Nigerians were arrested in Benin. One of the suspects, Afekhana Esther, was arrested at Ward 1, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ikpoba Okha, Benin City with 20 PVCs belonging to different people. Esther claimed that Comfort Muoneke, a 73-year-old woman, and Segun Osaimokhai handed the PVCs over to her. EFCC promises to arraign them in court, as soon as the investigation is completed.
