Two people have been confirmed dead after a truck that suffered a brake failure rammed into four tricycles in the Ikotun area of Lagos state.
The incident was said to have happened on Monday, January 31st. According to reports, the fully-loaded truck with registration number JJJ 125 rammed into the four tricycles. Their registration numbers, LSD 83 QM, AKD 690 QK, NEK 657 YU and AKL 87 QF by a valley around Synagogue Church, heading towards Ikotun. The driver of one of the tricycles with one passenger died instantly. Four other victims, including a pregnant woman and two children, were rescued. Confirming the incident, Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASEMA, said; “Operatives of LASTMA, today rescued another four fatal accident victims inside mini commercial buses (tricycles) around Ikotun area of Lagos. A preliminary investigation revealed that the fully loaded container truck had a brake failure and crushed three tricycles by a valley around synagogue when going towards Ikotun. LASEMA immediately moved the tanker with those crushed tricycles to Ikotun Police Station.” Meanwhile, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, has warned tanker owners and drivers to always ensure that their trucks are properly checked and in good condition before embarking on any journey. Other emergency responders at the accident scene include the Nigerian Police officers from Ikotun Police Station. The operatives immediately handed over the rescued victims to Policemen from Ikotun Police Station, who took them to a general hospital for treatment.
The man takes to his official Facebook page to rant and reveal that the sum of $11000 mysteriously left his bank account. He further states that his debit card is in his Nigeria home, where no one has access to it. Hence, there is no way he authorized such a transaction. He wrote: “@ZenithBank Today I noticed that a total of $11.031 was missing from my Domiciliary account. The money is showing in my ledger balance but it’s not showing in my account balance. I have contacted your bank and they said someone made fraudulent transactions with my account. My dollar debit card that is inside my house and no one else has any access to it whatsoever. I have contacted your people @ZenithBank to make sure that money is returned to my account as I didn’t authorize any such withdrawals. cenbank @ZenithBank I do not understand how your bank has become so porous that any fraudulent transactions are easily authorized from your bank. @cenbank Please anyone who can help me should please assist. In this hard economy. $11,031 is not 11 thousand naira. @ZenithBank please I do not want to hear any stories. I am storming your bank tomorrow to raise h, II BI od will be sr d at that bank tomorrow. Because I don’t understand how $11,031 will be fraudulently spent from my account without my approval and you people are talking nonsense.”

The 21-year-old World Cup winner and Qatar 2022’s Young Player of the Tournament moved to Chelsea on Tuesday, January 31, the transfer deadline day, even after Schmidt continuously said he would stay at the club. Speaking to reporters after his side’s 3-0 league win at Arouca on Tuesday, the Benfica coach stated that they only need players who are happy to play for the club. 
He said; “To lose a good player in the winter transfer window is always difficult. But we also showed today that we are capable of playing good football without him, that the players are focused to get a lot of points, to become champions. That’s our goal. “Benfica is much bigger than one single player. We need players who are happy to play for Benfica, who are passionate. If some player decides to leave and a club [are willing to] pay the clause, then we cannot do anything. We accept [it] and look forward.” 
The Athletic reported that while the Ligue 1 side appeared to have it all wrapped up with the player agreeing to the move and having already flown to Paris to complete a medical, Chelsea failed to file the necessary paperwork before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, with a source from PSG labelling the situation a “Class A circus”. If PSG wins their appeal, the Morocco international will join the capital club and fill the role left behind by Pablo Sarabia, who exited for Wolverhampton Wanderers last month. However, if the commission denies the appeal, Ziyech will return to Chelsea with an uncertain future as the English club moves in a different direction that doesn’t include the winger.
