GRV who is the strongest opponent against the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of APC made this known in an interview with the media personality, Chude Jideonwo. While referencing the 2022 Independence Day rally, he argued that the thuggery (agbero) system practised in Lagos State is chaotic and oppressive, hence, a need for his administration to come in and put an end to it. Gbadebo also referenced the late leader of the secessionist Republic of Biafra, Odumegwu Ojukwu whom he claimed was fearless and stood for his people. He argued that the current administration is aware of the oppression and the flaws in their party but they are too scared to come out clean. “Did you witness the October 1st rally in Lagos state? It was boisterous, it was full of so much energy. Now if you look at most of those people that came out, they’re the working class people, not Agberos. The Agbero’s that are knocking on people’s car and robbing them, that is the constituency of the ruling party and we’re trying to change that. I’m not going to Out-Goliath Goliath, i am going to come as David in this story,” Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour stated. Watch the video below …

Oloyede was accused of fraudulently obtaining the sum of $720,000 for the construction of a 500-bed space at the school. He also obtained the sums of $250,000, $150,000, and $620,000 at different times. The State Legal Officer, represented by Mr. O.E. Akintan, brought the case against Oloyede for conspiracies to steal and obtain by false pretence, contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code. However, evidence was presented in court, indicating that several amounts running into millions in foreign currency were paid into an account linked to Oloyede and his associates for the importation of panels for the construction of a hostel for students of the university. Despite the payment for the panels and for the shipment of the materials from Australia to Ilara-Mokin in Ondo State, the former Vice Chancellor failed to execute the projects, leading to his arrest and prosecution for alleged fraud by the state government.
