The boy was seen laughing heartily and playfully bending like Spider-Man in a video posted by @sedi_aviel on TikTok. The video left viewers in awe of the two kids’ striking similarity. Many Nigerians were shocked by the striking resemblance when they saw the hilarious young boy in the video bending like Spider-Man and giggling. Renowned Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe shares how she nearly departed from the Nigerian film industry due to experiences of sexual harassment. She made this known during a recent interview on ‘Your View,’ a talk show on TVC hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown.

Mercy Aigbe recounted an incident where a producer made inappropriate sexual advances towards her after a movie audition, despite having secured a role in an upcoming film. The single mother emphasized how she had just quit a well-paying job at the time for the movie role, and unknown to her the sexual harassment awaiting her in her first shot at acting. “I met a producer in Surulere, and I expressed to him how much I would love to act. He told me he had an upcoming film and invited me to his office for an audition in his office. ”After I had passed three stages of the audition, I was given a minor role, which I told him that was not the character I was auditioning for, and he replied that the director said he did not know me, and that was why he wanted me to be close to him,” she said. Mercy added, “He then stood up to touch me. I was very upset and I thought if that was what it took to be an actress, I don’t want to be an actress anymore. I tore the script and left; I cried on my way going home because I left a well paying job to join Nollywood, and I was already a single mother at the time.”

EFCC gets new Acting Chairman hours after Bawa’s suspension

A few hours after President Bola Tinubu suspended the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, Mr Abdulkarim Chukkol has been appointed as Acting Chairman of the Commission. Recall that following weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him, Bawa was on Wednesday suspended and directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission pending the conclusion of his investigation. The new acting Chairman of EFCC, Mr Abdulkarim Chukkol However, in a new development on Thursday, the EFCC in a statement shared on its official Facebook page stated that Mr. Chukkol is the new Acting Chairman of the Commission. According to the statement, Chukkol is a consummate and vastly experienced investigator with a speciality in cybercrime and money laundering. Until this new role, Chukkol was the Director of Operations of the Commission. An Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yelma’e has vowed never to pray for the late actor Murphy Afolabi due to the movie roles he played when alive. According to the Islamic cleric, Islam forbids him from praying for the departed soul of popular actor, Murphy Afolabi, because all the movie roles he played while alive were roles which went against the Islamic religion.

In the video shared online, the cleric stated that the late Afolabi played movie roles like a herbalist, a fetish priest, and a wizard which are against the Islamic religion. In his words; “What we posted yesterday was that we cannot pray for (late) Murphy Afolabi because in the movies he usually acts, and particularly Yoruba movies, it has a lot of forbidden things including traditional sacrifices and it is rare for the actors not to be involved in such traditional sacrifices. “They might be acting that way with the thinking that they are joking but anything that has to do with Almighty Allah should not be joked with. Acting like an herbalist, witch, or wizard, is against Islamic teachings and Islam is against such actions. “What will make a Muslim start using what nonbelievers do to make people laugh? It is common in Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo films, but mostly in Yoruba films. I feel it is time for religious teachers and students to start looking into these issues. “When any of these actors with a Muslim name acts like an herbalist in Yoruba movies and later dies, it becomes hypocritical for people to expect us to pray for them. As for Murphy Afolabi, I won’t pray for him, and neither will I curse him because he might not know.”
