A Nigerian lady, Emem Effiong and her physically challenged lover, Innocent Moses Ntia, tied the knot at the Christ The King Cathedral in Uyo on Saturday, December 9, 2023. The ceremony, marked by joy and unity, demonstrated that love knows no boundaries. The bride, Emem Effiong, took to Facebook on Wednesday, December 13, expressing gratitude and sharing glimpses of their special day.

She extended her thanks to Her Excellency, the wife of the Governor, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, who was represented by the wives of five Local Government Area (LGA) transition committee chairmen. “Thank God it ended in praise. Our deepest appreciation to Her Excellency, the wife of the Governor, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno that was ably represented by wives of five LGA transition committee chairmen. Mummy, Thank you for honoring us, God bless you,” she wrote.

The ceremony was attended by friends, family, and well-wishers, all joining in the celebration of the union between Emem and Innocent. Despite any challenges they may face, the couple’s love prevailed, inspiring those around them. Greg Simon, offering his congratulations to the newlyweds, remarked on the significance of the event, noting a trend of beautiful marriages in the disability community in 2023. “Oh wow! Congratulations my dear brother Innocent Ntia Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it. Pastor dies two days after officiating funeral Service in Akwa Ibom

A popular Akwa-Ibom-based pastor, Runcie Mike, has died two days after officiating the funeral service of the 36-year-old daughter of one of his members. Until his death, Mike was the Lead Pastor of The Evening Church in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

Late Pastot Runcie Mike The Pastor whose church is located at the Shopping Mall, Tropicana Centre, Uyo was said to have died after a brief sickness on Saturday, July 1, in Uyo, according to The Nation report. However, when the news broke, many of the church members thought it was fake news, but the leadership of the church later confirmed the sad development. The church announced, “In this time of grief, we enjoin the body of Christ to hold us up in prayers and most especially, His immediate family”. Pastor Runcie Mike is survived by a wife and two children. In other news, a celestial prophet has given Pastor David Ibiyeomie 14 days to apologize for his comment about celestial churches. The prophet, who identified himself as a “Bonafide celestial prophet,” stated that Pastor Ibiyeomie made a terrible mistake and that he needs to apologize to the celestial community. This is coming after pastor Ibiyeomie confessed during a sermon that he does not like white garment churches. During the service, the televangelist stated that he despises that particular denomination because of their worship style. Ibiyeomie warned his congregation that if people knew what they do in their churches, they would despise the Celestial Church of Christ. Reacting to this, a celestial prophet reiterated that if Pastor Ibiyeomie did not apologize within 14 days, he would “visit our God.” He said; “I am saying that I want to speak to Mr or Pastor David Ibiyeomie, I am a Bonafide celestial prophet. But what he said to we the celestials, he really made a terrible mistake and as a man of God, we are expecting him within that 14 days that supreme evangelist speak against him to apologize. If he did not, this is not a word of threat, he will visit our God.”

One Aniekan James has been paraded by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for the alleged killing of his only son, Odudu James, aged 35. During the parade of the suspect and 268 others apprehended for different offences, the Commissioner of Police for the state, Olatoye Durosinmi, revealed that Aniekan had purportedly taken the lives of numerous individuals in Lagos and Abia states. According to the police commissioner, the suspect was apprehended on June 16, 2023, by the Ukanafun Division operatives. “On June 16, 2023, one Aniekan James of Ikot Ndot village in Ukanafun LGA was arrested by the Ukanafun division for shooting his 35-year-old only son, Odudu James, who had been having a war of words with him. The suspect is alleged to be a habitual murderer who has committed murders in Lagos and Aba states,” he stated. Additionally, the commissioner presented the individual suspected of kidnapping the vice-chancellor of a private university, who was taken while on his way home by his former household staff. The commissioner further stated that the outstanding ransom amount, exceeding N2 million, and the Toyota Corolla employed in the abduction had been successfully retrieved. The vice-chancellor, also, has been reunited with his family. The police boss said, “On April 14, 2023, around 10.30am, the vice-chancellor of a private University in the state was kidnapped on his way home. “Two days later, being the 16th, in a prompt and discreet investigation, operatives of the anti-kidnap squad of the command arrested one Prince Thursday Okon, a former domestic worker of the VC. He was sacked because of his criminal tendencies; he then masterminded the kidnap. He was arrested along with two of his gang members, Saviour Sunday Luke and Richard Friday, all of Ikot Ebam village in Mkpan Enin LGA. “The sum of N1,270,000 cash was recovered as part of the ransom paid, while N250,000 was left in one of the suspects’ accounts. The Toyota Corolla used for the operation was also recovered. The VC has been reunited with his family.”

10-year transformation of child labelled a witch in Akwa Ibom

Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Lovén shares the transformation of an Akwa Ibom child who was once abandoned by her family over claims of being a witch.

In 2013, Anja rescued Charity from an abandoned house after being outcasted by her family and the entire community. Taking to Facebook to share the transformation of Charity who was once called a witch, the Danish lady emphasized how she is a grown independent lady after 10 years. In her words;
“Yesterday was VERY special. It was exactly 10 years ago Land of Hope Director of Child Development Nsidibe Orok and I found Charity in an abandoned house. Charity was accused of being a witch and outcasted by her family and the entire community.

She begged for food during the day and in the night she slept in the abandoned house on the dirty ground. When we found her she was wearing a Chelsea football jersey many sizes too big for her. It was the only clothing she had. I remember how her body appeared like a fragile feather. She was severely malnourished, beaten and abused. What happened to Charity during those years of struggle and immense pain belongs to the past.
Today Charity has become such a strong and Independent young women and next year she will start university. All thanks to your amazing love and support 🤎 5th of April 2013 we rescued Charity.
5th of April 2023 we dressed up to celebrate Charity’s development and accomplishments.”

PDP’s Umo Eno wins Akwa Ibom governorship election

Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has won the governorship election conducted on Saturday, March 18.

Eno won in 29 out of the 31 local government areas in the state with a total of 350,348 votes. His closest challenger, Bassey Albert of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), who won in two local government areas, polled 136,262 votes. Akanimo Udofia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came third with 127,602 votes, and he reportedly lost in all the local governments in the state including Nsit Ibom where he hails from.

The results from all the local government areas were announced at the INEC collation centre in Uyo, the state capital.

Voting was halted at Unit 1, Ward 10, Ikot Ebom Primary School, Itu local government area in Akwa-Ibom state due to an altercation allegedly initiated by PDP thugs.

The chaos overwhelmed the police officer at the unit, who rode away on a motorcycle, abandoning the voters. Despite the voters’ insistence on casting their ballots for their preferred candidate, they were denied the opportunity, according to an anonymous voter. The alleged PDP thugs reportedly overpowered the voters, leading to a chaotic situation. A female officer, who had earlier left the unit, returned with her colleagues and fired tear gas canisters at the dispersed voters in their various homes. Several voters, who claimed not to be PDP supporters, were allegedly deprived of their voting rights during the presidential election. Furthermore, suspected thugs reportedly destroyed election materials designated for specific units at the well-known Urua Anwa junction in the Etim Ekpo local government area by puncturing the vehicle’s tyres.

Tears as female corps member dies in tragic accident on her way to Akwa Ibom (Photo)

A female corper who identified as Nwaeze Charity Ogonnaya has reportedly lost her life while on her way to her state of deployment.
Reports gathered that the corps member who is currently serving in Akwa Ibom state lost her life getting into an accident on her way to the state.

It was confirmed that the lady embarked on the journey from Ebonyi state but met her death in Abia state on Wednesday, the 4th of January 2023.
The corper’s remains was immediately taken to her hometown as friends and family mourned her unexpected demise.
A friend of the deceased who broke the news to other corps members in the state also revealed that an unidentified person also died on the spot.
The lady added that she left the deceased at the park in Ebonyi state and boarded a different bus.
She said:
“Someone died on the spot. I don’t know her name. It’s Charity I know because I left her at the park. I entered a different bus.”

Reports have it that a bizarre stunt occurred during wedding proceedings as a lady abandoned her baby for the groom and his newlywed wife in front of the congregation.
It was reported that the man identified as Mr. Solomon Etim Usanga who hails from Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State was having a blissful wedding ceremony until his estranged lover, Comfort Solomon arrived at the venue and dropped their baby inside a bowl he held for offerings as practiced in some churches.
The incident is said to have occurred at Nkari village in Ini L.G.A.
A photo attached to the report shows the baby inside the bowl of the groom while his bride stood beside him.
Sharing the story, a netizen wrote:

A certain Mr. Solomon Etim Usanga of Ini LGA received the shock of his life on his wedding day as his estranged lover, Comfort Solomon stormed his wedding venue during offering and “offered” their love child to the father and walked away while the couple were holding offering basins to receive offerings for the church as is the practice in some denominations during wedding.
