Ligue 1 giant, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have accepted a world record bid of €300m (£259m) from Al-Hilal for Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe who has not been allowed to wind down his contract which would expire in one year, has been put up for sale by PSG and left out of the pre-season tour of Japan. This is coming after the France national team captain told the club that he will not be signing a new contract or agreeing to their one-year contract extension option. Al-Hilal has now been granted permission by PSG to speak to Mbappe after offering a whopping €300 million (circa $332.4 million) to sign him. PSG’s decision to accept the bid was likely to avoid losing Mbappe for free next year. Source: Getty If completed, the deal will surpass Neymar’s €200 million transfer from Barcelona to PSG as the most expensive in football history. The Saudi club’s offer would reportedly see Mbappe earn an astonishing €700 million annually. Mbappe who moved to PSG from Monaco in 2017 for €180 million, has maintained his status as one of the world’s top players. He rose to prominence with Monaco in 2015, helping the team win the Ligue 1 championship and earning recognition as the league’s best young player. With PSG, he secured four national titles and played a crucial role in France’s 2018 FIFA World Cup victory. At the moment, Mbappe who is PSG’s all-time top scorer with 212 goals in 260 appearances, remains the second most expensive player in history behind his PSG teammate Neymar.
Bayern Munich submits second bid for Harry Kane
Bayern Munich have lodged an improved offer for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as they double down on their approach for the England captain. England’s captain Kane has one year remaining on his contract, so Spurs risk losing him for nothing next summer if they do not sell now. The club’s Chairman Daniel Levy is still hopeful the striker can be convinced to sign fresh terms. Harry Kane celebrating a goal scored for Tottenham. Tottenham will be flying to Australia for the start of their pre-season tour on Friday, July 14. Bayern are in the market for a new centre-forward and boss Thomas Tuchel has made Kane his number one target. Some German tabloids had reported that the Bundesliga giants had a bid of around £60 million turned down last month for the Tottenham star. Tottenham are thought to be holding out for around £100m to sell Kane this summer but he might have something to say on that. Sky’s report claims Kane is keen to seal a move to the Allianz Arena.

Source: Getty Guardian reported that Harry Kane has held positive talks with Bayern Munich over a move to the club and they remain keen to sign the 29-year-old England captain, who had also been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer before they abandoned their plans to pursue the player, having decided the money it would take to lure him from north London was unrealistic. It was gathered that Bayern are now willing to pay €80m (£68.4m) plus add-ons for the 29-year-old, who is also determined to secure a switch to the Allianz Arena this summer. Tottenham are likely to reject Bayern’s second offer as well. Despite his collection of individual awards, Kane will turn 30 later this month without having won a single major trophy with Spurs, who have gone 15 years without silverware since clinching the 2007-08 EFL Cup.

“I would’ve had BP if I lost my Senatorial bid” —Oshiomhole
Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC-Edo) has said that if he lost his senatorial bid ambition, his blood pressure would have risen to 360 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) Oshiomhole said this during the post-inauguration/thank you party hosted in his honour by friends and well-wishers at his country home, Iyamho, Etsako, Edo, on Saturday.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole “If you had voted against me, I don’t know, maybe my blood pressure would have been 240/360, that is if I’m still alive. “Because the jubilations by the opponent would have been such that they will come and lock my small door and break my small bones, but you said no”, Oshiomhole told his audience. Oshiomhole said that many governors lost in their bids to become senators, adding that it would have been a shame to him if he also lost. He thanked the people of Edo North for voting for him as a senator, after leaving office as governor. He also thanked the people for voting for President Bola Tinubu in the presidential election, adding that the Edo-North district was the only district where Tinubu won in Edo. He pledged his commitment to represent Edo North very well, adding that he has an obligation to ensure that the state benefited more from the Tinubu administration. “There were sitting governors who contested for Senate across the country and many of them lost. I left office seven years ago and my people still honoured me with victory, how can I thank you enough? “Afeanmi people when you return to your wards and units tell your people that I am very grateful. “During the campaign, I told you if you want to give me one vote give it to Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “I am very proud to say and to repeat today here and now that in each of these six Local Governments Areas, every ward Bola Ahmed Tinubu won, every ward Adams Oshiomhole won”, he said. “I will proudly carry the result and I will say Mr President this is my certificate of the people of Edo North that voted for you. He assured the people that Tinubu would transform Nigeria the way he did to Lagos. “ Tinubu said those who say Edo no be Lagos will be alive when he becomes president, he will not only make Edo to be like Lagos, but better than Lagos. “So my people those who say Edo no be Lagos, Tinubu cannot control us please tell them Tinubu is now Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces”, he said. Arsenal submits British record £105m bid for Declan Rice
Arsenal has submitted a third bid for West Ham’s Declan Rice worth £105m, which, if accepted, would make him the most expensive British player ever. The record was previously held by Gareth Bale, who left Tottenham for Real Madrid for £85m in 2013 until Jude Bellingham moved to the Bernabeu from Borussia Dortmund for an initial £88.5m earlier this month.

The Gunners have already had two offers turned down for Rice, while Manchester City have had one rejected. City’s offer of a £90m package, with £10m of it paid in add-ons, was rebuffed by West Ham on Tuesday morning. Rice has indicated a preference to move to Arsenal this summer, where he would be a key part of Mikel Arteta’s project. The chance to play for Pep Guardiola’s Treble winners will be attractive, though, and City are in the market for new midfielders after captain Ilkay Gundogan joined Barcelona for free.

Arsenal launch bid for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber

RB Leipzig’s Mo Simakan is also on Arsenal’s list as Mikel Arteta pushes to reinforce a backline that struggled in April during William Saliba’s absence, conceding 11 goals in four games against Liverpool, West Ham, Southampton, and Manchester City as the team fell away in the title race. Simakan, who is 23 but part of the France Under-21 squad at the Euros that begins today, June 21, can play as centre-back or right-back. Timber is more of a specialist central defender, although he has been used as a right-back before this season. Arsenal will continue talks to try to secure Jurrien Timber, who had also been targeted by Manchester United and former Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag. Source: Getty Arsenal are also attempting to buy the midfielders Declan Rice and Roméo Lavia and had an £80m offer for Rice rejected by West Ham last week. Arsenal intends to move quickly to secure Rice, with Manchester City monitoring the situation as they await a decision from Ilkay Gündogan on whether he will extend his stay. Arsenal are in negotiations with Southampton and Lavia’s camp over the Belgium international. Manchester United are also interested but their priority is to land Mason Mount from Chelsea, who are keeping an eye on Lavia’s situation. Manchester City, the 19-year-old’s previous club, would get a percentage of any fee and have a £40m buyback clause next summer if he stays at Southampton. Timber made 47 appearances in all competitions for Ajax last season, including all six of their games in the Champions League group stage. He helped the Amsterdam side to win the Eredivisie title in 2021 and 2022. He has 15 caps for the Netherlands, playing in four of their 2022 World Cup matches as the Dutch reached the quarter-finals.

It’s been also speculated that Chelsea are open to parting ways with the Croatian midfielder as they are aware of the need to balance their books and trim a bloated first-team squad. Manchester City submitted the £25m bid days after Chelsea granted them permission to speak with Kovacic. The midfielder has since agreed personal terms over a move to the Etihad Stadium. Previous reports have indicated that Chelsea are looking to receive a fee closer to £35m, but both clubs are keen to find a solution as the midfielder has made it clear that he wants to join the treble winners. Man City are hopeful of sealing a deal before the end of this month for Kovacic, who represented Croatia in the UEFA Nations League final loss to Spain on Sunday, June 18.

The midfielder initially joined Chelsea on loan from Los Blancos in the summer of 2018 before making his move permanent a year later, and he has since made a total of 221 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing 15 assists. Man City has identified Kovacic as a summer target at a time when club captain Ilkay Gundogan is facing an uncertain future at the Etihad. The 32-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of this month when his contract expires, and the German who has been linked with both Barcelona and Arsenal recently reiterated that he is yet to make a final decision on his future.

Arsenal has made signing a new midfielder their priority during this window and remain optimistic about landing West Ham captain Declan Rice despite seeing an opening offer rejected by the Hammers. It is understood that Chelsea is willing to sell Havertz to Arsenal for the right price, as the German has two years remaining on his contract and has not indicated a desire to sign an extension.
