Nollywood actress and film producer, Ini Edo, gets candid as she addresses the reason behind her single status at the age of 41. During an interview on Toke Makinwa‘s podcast, Toke Moments, the movie star explained that she remains single because she desires a partner who truly loves her.

Ini Edo emphasized that she isn’t seeking extravagance in a man but is looking for someone who can offer respect and protection. She expressed that a man’s ability to provide protective energy and genuine respect is crucial for her. While Ini acknowledged the presence of love, she highlighted the distinction between loving someone and being ready to commit to them. For her, it goes beyond financial status and is more about one’s ability to navigate and handle life’s challenges. It is also worth noting that in an earlier interview, she addressed why men are afraid of successful women. In her words; “I am still single because I just want somebody that would really love me. That’s all. I’m not asking for too much. “Not like I don’t see love. Loving somebody and being loved are two different things. You can love someone but you are not ready to be committed. Maybe this is why I’m still single: I can’t be in a toxic relationship. “If you cannot give me that protective energy that allows me to respect you… I can not be with a man that I don’t respect. If you can not earn my respect, then we cannot be together. Because what’s the point? “When it gets to the point when I start to disrespect you, that means you have brought yourself down to a point where I begin to talk back at you. Sometimes, it’s not even about having money. It’s about how you are able to love and manage situations and the people around you. Kindness!”. A Nigerian lady identified as @abewajii has shared the story of how choosing her boyfriend over her mother led to unexpected success in her love life. Taking to the TikTok, she narrated the twists and turns that eventually led her to meet her now-husband. According to the lengthy story shared through pictures, @abewajii recalled how her boyfriend expressed his romantic interest in her when she was just 20 years old.

Despite her mother’s disapproval, exacerbated by societal judgments regarding the boyfriend’s perceived thug-like behavior and tattoos, the young woman decided to choose love over familial expectations. The situation escalated to a point where her mother presented her with an ultimatum, demanding that she make a choice between her family and her boyfriend.

In a bold move, @abewajii opted to move out of her family home at the age of 18, standing by her decision to be with the man she loved. “I chose him because I couldn’t bear to lose him either,” she said. Praising her boyfriend’s parents for their acceptance, @abewajii revealed that she and her boyfriend faced challenges while managing in a self-contained space. During this time, she gave birth to their child, marking a turning point in their lives. The boyfriend, who worked as a labourer, and @abewajii, who pursued a career in hairdressing, saw significant improvements in their circumstances. The story took a positive turn as the boyfriend gifted @abewajii three cars and achieved financial success, allowing them to move into their own house in 2020. Despite the detailed account of their journey, the TikTok user did not specify if they eventually formalized their relationship through marriage.
