Sharing the information on her Twitter page, @MapsMashigo, she revealed that she wasn’t aware it was a thing in the country until recently. According to her, her cousin had killed herself on Monday, and her mother was asked to beat her naked dead body as demanded by their tradition. In her words; “Yoh!!!!! My Cousin killed herself on Monday. Today they are going to beat her up while she’s resting so that this doesn’t happen again in the family. Famous Nigerian human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), on Monday urged President Bola Tinubu to strengthen his fight against corruption, especially in the Aso Rock. Falana who was a guest speaker at the 60th anniversary of the call to bar of Aare Afe Babalola in Ekiti State, stated that some politicians and people that can be found in the Aso Presidential Villa are standing trial for looting the country’s treasury.

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) He said, “I’m urging the president to lead an anti-corruption crusade so that the country – the largest concentration of black people on earth, can take its rightful place in the committee of nations. “Highly-placed public officers steal money meant for building hospitals, and people are dying on our roads. “Some of those who are going in and out of the villa are standing trial for looting the treasury of this country. So, wrong signals must not be sent to our people and the international community,” Falana said. Speaking further on why corrupt public office holders should be barred from holding positions in government, he referenced the administration of Nigeria’s former president and Chairman of the anniversary lecture, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR), noting that the administration fought against corruption. Falana said, “There’s somebody here who was our president. If you were accused of corruption and your case was before the EFCC or the ICPC, you’ll not be appointed to a position of authority. We must go back to that era.”

President Bola Tinubu Tinubu during an interview on Wednesday in Lagos after the Eld-el-Kabir prayers called upon both leaders and followers to adopt attitudes that would propel the nation to greater heights. He stressed the need for deliberate commitment from both leadership and citizens alike. He said, “May our sacrifices turn to prosperity. We’ve to make sacrifices and that is clear. “But Allah will not give you the burden that you cannot carry; He will not. He is there for you. “Have faith in the country, have faith in yourselves, believing as a citizen of this country that it will be well with us. “You must join hands to live together without religious or tribal sentiments. Live with one another in joy and prosperity. “Nigeria will see peace and stability and God will grant those in the warfront victory and peace and spare their lives.” In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Suleiman Abu-Nolah, said that the festivity promotes the culture of sacrifice, unity and tolerance among the Muslim faithful. “The religion does not permit the practice of selfishness, intolerance or sectionalism. “We should use the occasion to reflect on the various challenges facing the country and use it to rectify whatever is our challenge through prayer to God Almighty.” The Chief Imam prayed for the continued peace, progress and stability of Nigeria and called on all Nigerians to imbibe the values of Prophet Ibrahim. Mr Femi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the wellbeing of the country. “We must sacrifice for the nation because praying and loving is part of our duty as citizens because it is what will make the nation great,” he said. Gbajabiamila, in his speech, said that the president would continue to give hope to Nigerians by continuing to implement people-oriented policies. He said that the president would need the prayers of Nigerians to continue the various initiatives towards turning the country into the dream of our founding fathers. “As the president returns Abuja, he will need your prayers and as he moves to all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria, he will also need your prayers. “The weight of the task is daunting but with the prayers and support of all Nigerians, the president will surely surmount them,” he said.
