Chef Dammy's pastor sued by Ekiti government, demands N10 million damages

Reports say that the pastor of Chef Dammy, Pastor Jeremiah has been sued by the Ekiti government for damages on behalf of the chef. The Nigerian chef Damilola Adeparusi, also known as Chef Dammy, has filed a lawsuit for rights infringement against Jeremiah Adegoke, and the Ekiti State Police Command at the Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti. The lawsuit was filed by the Directorate of Citizens Rights (DCR) at the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice. The DCR also requested that the court prevent Mr. Adegoke and the police from detaining Chef Dammy and that the chef, who gained popularity following her unsuccessful effort to break a Guinness World Record, receive N10 million in damages.

Chef Dammy, Nigerian chef. source: Google The lawsuit was filed barely a week after Chef Dammy was reportedly arrested on the order of Mr Adegoke, who was her pastor. The 24-year-old raised concerns in October about alleged harassment and constant threats from people she labeled as “people of God” and her pastor, which sparked the conflict between Chef Dammy and her pastor. The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) 300-level Mass Communication student said that she had been intimidated and harassed, which had left her constantly afraid for her life. It’s unclear exactly what the chef and her once-supportive pastor were fighting about, but it seems like their disagreement stemmed from the unsuccessful cook-a-thon. The lawsuit seeks a declaration that the continued harassment, molestation, threat of arrest, and intimidation by the pastor, allied with Mr Samuel and the Nigerian police, infringes on the applicant’s fundamental human rights. The lawsuit further demands a restraining order preventing Chef Dammy’s arrest and seeks a compensation of N10 million for aggravation and damages.

Tell him that anyone who is going to sign Yung Duu will pay me N100M. That was the same thing Oladips did to Reminisce, look where he is today. Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy Lucky Aiyedatiwa But, sources revealed to Vanguard that Aiyedatiwa has reportedly been “Undermining the authority of the governor’s office through his actions and decisions.” A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “We are not concerned about the political turmoil within the government. Our priority is ensuring due process. The governor’s office does not directly instruct us to release funds. “There are established procedures for financial disbursements in the government, and all approvals must go through the Ministry of Finance. “Aside from the running grant accruing to the deputy governor’s office monthly, he has also demanded that the governor’s running grant and other emoluments attached to the office of the governor be handed to him as acting Governor. “In the past week, the deputy governor has summoned and threatened two of our officials. He has inquired about the governor’s spending and demanded to know how funds allocated to the governor’s office are disbursed. “He believes he is entitled to two streams of funding, insisting that the governor’s office allocation should be included as part of his role as acting governor. “During the encounters with our officials, they kindly explained that even the governor’s office route its approvals through the Ministry of Finance. “However, the deputy governor remains obstinate, repeatedly demanding immediate funds. Despite our attempts to educate him on proper financial protocols and the responsible use of public funds, he persists. “He has been confrontational and demanding. We see this as executive recklessness. While we understand tensions may be high, we would prefer not to be involved in any reckless activities.”

Accord Party urges Tinubu to declare late MKO Abiola President-elect, family demands presidential entitlements

Accord Party urges Tinubu to declare late MKO Abiola President-elect, family demands presidential entitlements

The Accord Party, Lagos State Chapter, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to declare MKO Abiola Nigeria’s president-elect following his victory in the June 12, 1993, presidential election. This is even as the late freedom fighter is also demanding that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would ensure that all “incentives due to Abiola get to the family.” MKO Abiola While addressing reporters on Monday, Mr Dele Oladeji, State Chairman of the party to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day said in a statement that the party wanted Tinubu to declare MKO as president-elect of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election so as to bring an end to a long lingering injustice against Nigerians. Oladeji noted that the “June 12 Day” remained a blight and watershed on the checkered democratic history of Nigeria and Africa “We request a release of the official result of June 12, a declaration of late MKO as the president-elect and presentation of insignia office and necessary compensation to his family.” The chairman stated that the requests would bring an end to long lingering injustice and correct devastating social and electoral bills against Nigerians and Nigeria. “This request will not be for only late MKO Abiola but for all Nigerians and the world at large, who will feel a huge relief. “It will also restore their faith and hope in the country afresh. “At this time, the June 12 Day should start to be celebratory like the Martin Luther King Jr. Day. “Also, it should stop being a day we keep mourning the injustice, loss to lives and property and the democratic rape of June 12 debacle,” he said. The chairman reiterated that a fulfilment of the party’s request would shore up renewed hope in the democratic system of Nigeria and Africa. He explained that it would bring a lot of maturity and faith in the democratic system in Nigeria. “It will build trust, faith and hope in the government of Tinubu, develop and foster rapid growth of the judicial and justice system and process in Nigeria.” Oladeji said this was the right to bring Justice to June 12 because a few of the active actors are still alive. “Ex-president Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida who annulled the election is still alive, Prof. Maurice Iwu, the third INEC chairman who conducted the election, Prof. Wole Soyinka and Mr Dele Momodu. “Others are Dr Kayode Fayemi and President Bola Tinubu l, who were major actors and prominent agitators in the June 12 debacle. “Tinubu was not only a victim and active actor but also went on exile with other like- minds, members and leadership of NADECO,” he said. The chairman said the party looked forward to the official announcement of the result of the June 12, 1993 election and declaration of the winner while congratulating the President on the eventual victory of the Feb. 25, presidential election. “We wish the President and Nigerians a successful tenure and a prosperous reign.” The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that former President Muhammadu Buhari on June 6, 2018, declared June 12 as Nigeria’s democracy day instead of May 29 in honour of late Chief M.K.O Abiola. Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election died in detention for an alleged treason. The declaration followed many years of agitations by civil society groups that Abiola must be immortalized. According to Buhari, the change was to remind all Nigerians of one free election after which the presumed winner along with Nigerians were denied their rights and their choices. Meanwhile, the Secretary of M.K.O. Abiola’s family, Ameen Abiola said the family expects President Bola Tinubu to pay the presidential entitlements of the deceased. Ameen addressed reporters on Monday at a prayer session at the M.K.O. Abiola family house in Gbagura, Abeokuta, the Ogun capital. The family said beyond payment of the entitlements, they look forward to seeing the government to implement the promises Abiola made to Nigerians. Ameen noted that they believe the current administration would ensure that all “incentives due to Abiola get to the family.” “This government has the capacity to ensure that all incentives that are due to the Abiola family get to us. “I believe this government would do everything to make sure that we get what we should have gotten from the previous government,” he added.

Bello Matawalle of Zamfara “Our enquiry at both the Gusau and Maradu residences of Bello Matawalle confirmed that there was no warrant or anything for that matter presented to the people when the act was carried out by the invaders. “Furthermore, residences of other government officials that worked with Matawalle during his four-year administration were also invaded and some of their personal vehicles were carted away by the same group. “If investigation is not taken, hoodlums may wear uniforms and attack perceived enemies in the name of such operations. “As a party, we will not tolerate that and we will watch closely how the authorities concerned will handle the situation so that we will know whether the police and the DSS are working for the PDP or Nigeria,” he said.
