Nigerian football talents Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala have secured spots in the final shortlists for the 2023 Globe Soccer Awards. The announcement which was made by the organizers on Tuesday, comes less than 24 hours they won the African male and female Best Players of the Year awards in Marrakech, Morocco. In the men’s category, Victor Osimhen finds himself in elite company, contending icons like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Erling Haaland. The final 11 also features stellar names such as Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior, and Bernardo Silva. Oshoala who is still basking in the euphoria of a sixth CAF Women’s Player of the Year award, will face stiff competition with Sam Kerr, Aitana Bonmati, among others. The Globe Soccer Awards covers various categories, including Best Emerging Player, Best Goalkeeper, Best Midfielder, Best Coach, Best Club (men and women), Fans Favourite Player, Best Agent, and Best Club President. The winners across these diverse categories will be unveiled during the live broadcast of the Globe Soccer Awards gala on January 19, 2024, in Dubai. The event, held annually in Dubai, involves collaboration with international football organizations like FIFA, UEFA, ECA, and major football clubs. Meanwhile, The current holder of the title is former France and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, while his former teammate and Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo boasts six victories, making him the award’s record-holder of all time.
Blaqboi, Thabang and Justin evicted, five finalists standing
Sunday eviction show on ‘Big Brother Titans‘ witnesses a thrill as three housemates, Blaqboi, Thabang and Justin get evicted from the show, leaving the finalists.
Justin was the first to be evicted, causing his fellow housemates to shed tears and offer hugs of comfort. Despite the news, Justin reacted with a smile and expressed his immense pride for making it this far in the competition. After recapping some of the week’s memorable moments, Blaqboi was announced as the next evicted housemate. He, too, remained positive and accepted his fate with a smile, stating that leaving the house at this point felt like destiny. Thabang also followed the eviction train, leaving five finalists Ebubu, Ipeleng, Kanaga Jnr, Khosi, Tsatsii, and Yvonne on the show.
With their departure, the remaining finalist will be competing for a grand prize of $100,000 after spending a total of 105 days (or 10 weeks) in the house.
