Footage from the all-white party organized by Fuji maestro, Kwam 1 sparks a wave of reactions over the choices of outfits worn by Nollywood stars including Foluke Daramola and others. The veteran fuji musician hosted the third edition of ‘New Year Fest’ at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos on Thursday, January 4 where memories were made.
Several public figures, including actresses Foluke Daramola, Laide Bakare, and many more graced the all-white party. However, videos circulating on social media from the event provoked diverse opinions, with many Nigerians expressing their disappointment. Some online users were disheartened by the attire choices of the female attendees, deeming them as tacky and lacking in class, and suggesting that they could have chosen more elegant outfits. Comparisons were also made to the recent All-White party hosted by UBA and Heirs Holding CEO, Tony Elumelu, which featured the presence of prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment scene. Actress Foluke Daramola earlier took to her page to call out the youth of Nigeria for the new trends people have adopted. She lamented over the rampant disrespect against the elderly in society. According to her, “many people are ignoring the pandemic of young people insulting older ones on social media.” However, Yeni Kuti has come out to drag Foluk Daramola while reminding her of how she disrespected her when they collaborated to do a project many years ago. She said, ’Foluke Daramola. I like her. She is everything. I talk to her but I remember when she insulted me because I just googled her now. She is forty-five, and I am sixty-two. We did a job (together). This is about thirty-something years ago. I only did what they asked me to do. I didn’t take money for the job. but the enmity I got from her was terrible. I am wondering if she remembers because I rmember because it was done to me. Now she is demanding respect. You reap what you sow. Karma I a leveler” she said.
