Damini Ogulu, a Grammy award-winning Nigerian musician better known as Burna Boy, explained the reason behind his switch from football to music. He made this known during a conversation with British-Nigerian media personality Julie Adenuga.
According to the self-acclaimed African Giant, he was skilled at goalkeeping, but he didn’t enjoy the position because he felt insignificant. Burna Boy said, “I love football. I was good at playing football but the wickedest thing was that I was good at goalkeeping. That’s why I just stopped because [goalkeeping] was dead. I didn’t feel so important. I just didn’t feel like I was needed like that. I felt like without me the team will still be alright. I don’t want to spend my life like that.” Burna Boy has released five studio albums, beginning with his debut single ‘Like To Party’ in 2011. In 2021, his fourth studio album, ‘Twice As Tall,’ became the first and only Nigerian album to win a Grammy award.
With his team fighting in both the Champions League and La Liga and averaging a game every three days, Ancelotti accused UEFA and FIFA of only thinking about themselves. He also stated that something has to change. Speaking at a press conference, the Real Madrid manager said; 
“Objectively, the calendar doesn’t make sense. It’s too tight, with too many games. We have to look at the health of the players. They’re the most important part of football, but everyone thinks about themselves: the league think about themselves, the federation think about themselves, FIFA think about themselves, UEFA think about themselves. It isn’t good for football. It isn’t right. Something has to change. Too many games.” 
The ban handed over to Paratici by the Italian FA over his involvement in Juventus’ recent corruption scandal was made global on Wednesday, March 29. The Athletic‘s David Ornstein reported that Paratici met with Spurs players on Friday, March 31, to inform them of the situation, before a joint decision was made with the club for him to step back from his duties from April 19, the date of the outcome of his appeal. Tottenham has now confirmed that they’ve parted ways with the Italian football executive. A statement on Tottenham’s website read; “This week – 29 March 2023 – the FIFA Disciplinary Committee announced a decision to extend the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) sanctions, relating to Fabio Paratici, worldwide. This decision was taken in advance of Fabio Paratici’s Appeal hearing against the FIGC sanctions on 19 April 2023, the result of which would then have been considered by additional stakeholders, including the Club. 
“Given FIFA’s unexpected ruling, the sanctions may now have multi-jurisdictional effect, although they are still related to the FIGC Appeal. In view of FIFA’s decision, Fabio has agreed with the Club that he will take an immediate leave of absence pending the outcome of his Appeal.” The ex-director of football is just one of 11 former Juve executives to be hit with a ban, while the club themselves were handed a 15-point deduction for the current Serie A season. This is coming at a time Tottenham is looking for a successor for Antonio Conte who was recently dismissed as the club’s manager. 
The Real Madrid coach has repeatedly been linked with the Selecao job since previous coach Tite’s exit after the World Cup in Qatar last year, but he and the club have denied it. CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues who confirmed their interest in Ancelotti, told Reuters; “Ancelotti is unanimously respected among players. Not only Ronaldo Nazario or Vinicius Jr but all those that have played for him. I really admire him for his honesty in the way he works and how constant his work is. He needs no introductions. He is really a top coach who he has several achievements and we hope he can have even more.” 
“Ancelotti is not only the players’ favourite but it seems the fans’ too. Everywhere I go in Brazil, in every stadium, he is the first name the supporters ask me about. They talk about him in a very affectionate way, in recognition of an exemplary work he has done in his career. Let’s have faith in God, wait for the appropriate time and we’ll see if we can make it happen as we look for the new coach of the Brazilian national team.” While Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid will end in summer of 2024, he’s been under pressure lately as they sit 12 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona. 
The former Real Madrid and Arsenal midfielder has called time on his career after a brief stint with Istanbul Basaksehir, who he only joined back in July. Ozil had moved to Turkey with Fenerbahce just over two years ago following the termination of his contract at Arsenal. The midfielder retires after a career that saw him win La Liga and the Copa del Rey with Real Madrid and then move to Arsenal where he claimed the FA Cup four times. Announcing his retirement, Ozil wrote; “After thoughtful consideration, I’m announced my immediate retirement from professional football. I’ve had the privilege to be a professional football player for almost 17 years now and I feel incredibly thankful for the opportunity. But in recent weeks and months, having also suffered some injuries, its become more and more clear that its time to leave the big stage of football. “It has been an amazing journey filled with unforgettable moments and emotions. I want to thank my clubs – Schalke 04, Werder Bremen, Real Madrid, Arsenal FC, Fenerbahce, Ba§akwhir and the coaches who supported me, plus team-mates who have become friends. 
“Special thanks must go to my family members and my closest friends. They have been a part of my journey from day one and have given me so much love and support, through the good times and the bad. Thank you to all my fans who have shown me so much love no matter the circumstances and no matter which club I was representing. “Now I’m looking forward to everything that is in front of me with my beautiful wife, Amine, and my two beautiful daughters, Eda and Ela – but you can be sure that you will hear from me from time to time on my social media channels. See you soon, Mesut!” The 92-times capped German international is best known for his time at Arsenal and Real Madrid but came through the youth ranks at Schalke before breaking onto the international stage with Werder Bremen. 
Ozil registered 54 assists across three La Liga seasons with Real Madrid, and came within one assist of Thierry Henry’s Premier League record when he set up 19 goals in the 2015-16 season. He finished his Arsenal career with 44 goals and 79 assists in 254 appearances. Ozil won the 2014 World Cup with Germany and scored in the 2010 and 2014 editions of football’s top international showcase. He claimed four FA Cups with Arsenal, the German Cup with Werder Bremen, and Copa del Rey and La Liga honors with Real. 
Cristiano Ronaldo Junior, the son of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, will be joining Mahd Football Academy in Saudi Arabia following his father’s recent move to Al-Nassr. Recall that 37-year-old Ronaldo recently signed for Saudi side Al-Nassr in a mouth-watering that saw him become the highest-paid sportsman in the World. Before the family’s recent relocation to the Middle East country, Ronaldo Junior spent two years in Juventus’ academy system while his father was playing in Italy. He most recently wore the No. 7 shirt as a prospect with Manchester United and was also featured in Real Madrid’s youth team. 
The youngster who was recently spotted pulling off his father’s iconic ‘siuuu’ celebration after scoring in an Under-12s tournament for the Red Devils, has left United too and will now play at an academy level in Saudi Arabia. 
The five-times Champions League winner and Wales’ top scorer and most-capped player announced his retirement in a tweet he shared today, January 9. Bale who recently represented his nation at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he took his total to 41 goals in 111 caps for his country, ahead of second-placed Ian Rush (28 goals) and third-placed Christ Gunter (109 caps), rose to prominence as a full-back with Tottenham where he made a brief return in 2020-21. The 33-year-old footballer who also played for Los Angeles FC, Southampton, and Real Madrid, made his final competitive appearance during Wales’ World Cup group stage fixture with England on November 29. 
During his playing days, Bale won five Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, the joint-second highest tally ever behind Los Blancos legend Paco Gento, as well as three La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey trophy. Announcing his retirement, Bale wrote; “After careful and thoughtful consideration, I announce my immediate retirement from club and international football. 
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have realised my dream of playing the sport I love. It has truly given me some of the best moments of my life. From my very first touch at Southampton to my last with LAFC and everything in between, shaped a club career that I have an immense pride and gratitude for. “Playing for and captaining my country 111 times has truly been a dream come true. To my previous clubs, Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid and finally LAFC. All of my previous managers and coaches, back room staff, team mates, all the dedicated fans, my agents, my amazing friends and family, the impact you have had is immeasurable. So, I move on with anticipation to the next stage of my life.
