Ghana has rejected a request from West Ham United to allow Mohammed Kudus to play against Brighton on Tuesday. Kudus has been called up to Ghanaian national team for the Africa Cup of Nations starting on January 13. West Ham’s upcoming game against Brighton, falls within the period when Premier League clubs are obligated to release their players for the African tournament, which starts from January 1. Despite West Ham’s request for special dispensation to delay Kudus’s reporting due to their game being rescheduled to January 2, Ghana’s coach Chris Hughton is adamant that all players adhere to the scheduled reporting date. Kudus’s absence could be a significant setback for West Ham, considering his impressive performances since joining the club from Ajax in the summer. He has scored nine goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for his side, making him a key player for the team. Having missed the previous Africa Cup of Nations due to injury, he is now set to represent Ghana this time. Meanwhile, if Ghana progresses far in the tournament, Kudus will miss several crucial matches for West Ham, including clashes against Manchester United and Arsenal.

How I got cancelled for saying Ghana influenced Nigerian music – Mr Eazi

How I got cancelled for saying Ghana influenced Nigerian music – Mr Eazi

Renowned singer and serial entrepreneur, Mr Eazi reflects on becoming a target of cancel culture following his claim that Ghana had an impact on Nigerian music. On January 11, 2017, Mr Eazi tweeted about the significant influence of Ghanaian music on contemporary Nigerian music, sparking backlash. Numerous fans, colleagues, and music enthusiasts threatened to cancel him in response.

Addressing the criticism in a recent episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence Podcast with host Joey Akan, Mr Eazi expressed that he doesn’t regret his statement despite the threats. However, he expressed disappointment that some individuals he considered friends in the industry joined others in cancelling him instead of addressing the matter privately. The ‘Leg Over’ artist also criticized those who continue to harbour resentment towards him, asserting that his statement was not profound and suggesting that their animosity stems from unrelated reasons. In his words; “When the whole issue with me being cancelled, even till tomorrow, I see people come on my [social media] profile and still throw hate. They said, ‘Oh, yeah, you said that.’ I’m like, ‘Fam, really? This energy take it to your local politician wey dey run you street.’ You feel me? I didn’t kill anybody. I said what I said. “And I said it many years ago. If that is the reason you hate, then you hate me for something else. It’s deeper than that. And realising that just make me feel free. That’s the lens to which I look at e everything. Because I was seeing guys I was saying ‘Hello’ to, coming out to say, ‘F*ck Mr Eazi.’ “And I was like, ‘Bro, you could have called me and say Eazi, I just saw this interview, you shouldn’t have said that. This is what I advise you to do.’ But it just became a thing of let’s all band together. And that’s why in my song ‘We Dey’, I said, ‘Twitter fingers steady showing fake love.’ Because it’s crowd mentality. It’s trendy to hate you, and now it’s like for clicks. “There are people making art and nobody is caring about their life whether they jump or sit. It’s like they are invisible. Love and hate is acknowledgement of your existence, I’m even blessed to be able to invoke something.”

"Lagos is bigger than Ghana" – Efya settles music industry comparison

Notable songstress, Efya dismisses comparisons between the Ghanaian and Nigerian music industries, asserting that Lagos is “bigger” than Ghana. Efya emphasized that Nigeria’s larger population gives its music industry an edge over the Ghanaian market. She made this known in a recent interview with City 105.1 FM, Lagos.

"Lagos is bigger than Ghana" – Efya settles music industry comparison

She argued against drawing direct comparisons between the two West African countries, suggesting instead that they should focus on collaboration. In her words; “Nigerian and Ghanaian music markets are not the same. Nigerians are way more than we are in terms of numbers. Numbers really matter now. The number of people that will stream Nigerian music in Nigeria is different from the number of people that will stream Ghanaian music in Ghana. The numbers are not the same. “In the capacity of numbers, Lagos is bigger than Ghana. It is like the music hub itself. Nigerians are way bigger than we are. So, usually when I see people comparing, I’m like, ‘Do you guys know?’ “There shouldn’t be any comparisons. What I believe that we should is that we should be more collaborative. Find our vibes and put them together to advance what Afrobeats is going to be in the future; for us to be the gatekeepers of our own sound. And I think that’s the power move.”

The police disclosed that about 90 percent sex workers arrested were Nigerians while the rest were Ghanaians and others from other foreign nationals. “Yesterday, I directed the police to do an operation in town, and so they started the first operation to arrest all those prostitutes who come to our town. We managed to arrest about 50 people, and we will arraign them before the court,” he said. “About 90 percent are Nigerians. There are Ghanaians. They are coming here to dent the good image of Koforidua. Everybody who is doing that business will not be tolerated. Some may be living in your house. If you know such persons and cannot go to the police station, call me,” “Prostitution in Koforidua will not be tolerated, and we urge you to help us to deal with the act in the town,” the MP added.
