A groom is reportedly on the run following the death of seven guests shortly after drinking a local tea suspected to have been made with a local leaf known as “Zakami” at his wedding. It was also gathered that other guests were hospitalized after drinking the local tea which contains a psychoactive substance at the wedding ceremony which took place at Sheka area of Kumbotso Local Government, Kano metropolis. Sanusi Yahaya, older brother of the bride told Daily Trust that they suspect the tea was prepared with different types of drugs. He also said that it has become a norm for young people in the area, especially drug addicts, to hide behind ceremonies to prepare and take tea laced with drugs. Yahaya said; “They cooked the tea and they themselves didn’t even know the number and types of drugs that were inside to the extent that some had to abandon it. But some of them insisted that they must drink from the tea, saying that their brains can take it. “After drinking the tea, two people died, some have recovered while others are hospitalised.”

Another eyewitness, Abdullahi Muhammad confirmed the death figure. He further revealed that some of those hospitalised were not from the area but were just passing by and decided to drink from the tea. Muhammad added; “We don’t know the exact number for now, but in the morning seven were confirmed dead. Some of them were not even invited to the wedding, they just came to disguise and take their drugs.”

Guests at a traditional wedding in Okija, Anambra run for dear life as a swarm of bees swoops down on them and begins attacking them at the venue.

The incident was shared by an eyewitness who reported the story to an Instagram blogger. According to the reporter, he and his team had gone to Anambra for a traditional wedding gig. During the event, the elders refused giving the lady the palm to search for her husband among the crowd, as is customary in the culture. Their reason had been that the event had been set on the same day as the town’s market day, which is frowned upon. It was reported that a swarm of bees charged to the place and began attacking the guests, disrupting the event. A video shared online captures the guests run while swatting at the bees which trailed after them. A newly wedded man laments the denomination of money sprayed on him by guests at his wedding in Benin despite investing much in the event setup.

A video making the rounds on social media captured the lamentation of a groom who received N20, N50, and N100 notes in bulk at his wedding. According to him, despite the surplus of food eaten by his guests, they refused to spray him N1000, or N500 notes.
