“We’ve resolved fuel and cash scarcity issues, 2023 elections will hold as planned”

GistReel

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu assures Nigerians that forthcoming elections will hold regardless of fuel and cash scarcity issues.

"We’ve resolved fuel and cash scarcity issues, 2023 elections will hold as planned" - INEC

Mahmood Yakubu spoke after a meeting with the Federal Executive Council (FEC) presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, 8th of February. His revelation trails the many protests that have rocked different parts of the country over the scarcity of fuel and cash hoarding of new Naira notes. Yakubu said: “I can tell you two of these challenges quickly. The first one is the availability of petroleum products. We had a meeting with the National Union of Road Transport Workers and they raised that as an issue of concern. Immediately after that meeting, we interfaced with the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and right now there’s a technical community working. The idea is for them to avail us the use of their over 900 land mega stations as well as floating mega stations nationwide for the purpose of stocking products to ensure that the commission doesn’t suffer any encumbrances in the movement of personnel and materials for the elections. The second one is the currency issue. Again, we had an engagement yesterday with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. And he assured us that the commission will not suffer encumbrances on that score. Fortunately for us, all our accounts, national and state are with the apex bank. So, we raised those challenges and we have found a solution to those challenges. So, be rest assured that the elections will hold as scheduled on the 25th of February for the national and on the 11th of March for the state’s elections.”

Reacting to this, Heidi blasted the fan while throwing subtle shades at Chioma and referring to her as the leader of ‘endurance group’. “I see why you people are jealous of Chioma. She is the true definition of beauty”, the troll said. Heidi in her reaction fired back: “Abeg abeg did you get lost in my comment section? Carry your endurance group elsewhere pls.” In a lengthy write-up, the mother of Heidi Korth said Davido should be held responsible if anything happens to her daughter for threatening to deal with her. She wrote; “I want the whole world to know that if anything happens to my daughter, Davido Adeleke should be held responsible as he has threatened to deal with her. My daughter is a German citizen by birth and nationality and I am tagging everybody including the bloggers to come out and present proof that my daughter Heidi insulted or called Chioma out directly. “I have so many threatening messages to my daughter which we have ignored over a couple of days but this time, we are not ignoring this. As a mother this time I am NOT ignoring any threat to my daughter. I want the whole world to see this. We have had enough and nobody will take my silence for granted.”
