President Bola Tinubu is currently having his first meeting with the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, new service chiefs and the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Recall that President Tinubu approved the appointment of the new set of security managers two weeks ago.

Among those in attendance are the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and the Acting IGP, Kayode Egbetokun. Also, recall that Tinubu had sacked the Chief of Defence Staff, all the nation’s Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, as well as the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali. He appointed Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Adviser; Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, Chief of Defence Staff; Maj. Gen. T. A Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff; AVM H.B Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, DIG Kayode Egbetokun, Acting Inspector-General of Police and Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye as Chief of Defence Intelligence. President Tinubu also approved the following appointments: Col. Adebisi Onasanya, Commander, Brigade of Guards; Lt. Col. Moshood Abiodun Yusuf, 7 Guards Battalion, Asokoro, Abuja; Lt. Col. Auwalu Baba Inuwa 177, Guards Battalion, Keffi, Nasarawa State; Lt. Col. Mohammed J. Abdulkarim, 102 Guards Battalion, Suleja, Niger state; and, Lt. Col. Olumide A. Akingbesote, 176 Guards Battalion, Gwagwalada, Abuja. Similarly, the President has approved the appointments of other Military Officers in the Presidential Villa as follows: Maj. Isa Farouk Audu (N/14695), Commanding Officer, State House Artillery; Capt. Kazeem Olalekan Sunmonu (N/16183), Second-in-Command, State House Artillery; Maj. Tinubu sacks IGP Usman Baba Alkali, NSA, Service Chiefs, Customs CG

President Bola Tinubu on Monday sacked the Chief of Defence Staff, all the nation’s Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, as well as the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali. This was disclosed in a statement by the Secretary of Government of the Federation SGF, Senator George Akume in Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, Advisers, Comptroller-General of Customs from Service as well as their replacements with immediate effect”, the SGF stated. (Barr) Olarewaju Kunle Ibrahim, Senior Special Assistant, National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives). “Finally, the President has approved the appointment of Adeniyi Bashir Adewale as the Ag. Comptroller General of Customs. “It is to be noted that the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Comptroller General of Customs are to act in their positions, pending their confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, the SGF added.

APC tasks IGP, demands investigation into invasion of Matawalle’s residence

The All Progressives Congress(APC) has tasked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, to investigate the vandalisation and invasion of former Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara’s residence by individuals masquerading as security operatives. Alhaji Musa Mada, the Northwest APC Publicity Secretary, said this at a news conference in Kaduna on Saturday. Mada said that the vandalisation and invasion of Bello Matawalle ‘s homes was in violation of sections 34, 35, 37, 41 and 42 of the Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended. Former Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara “Our enquiry at both the Gusau and Maradu residences of Bello Matawalle confirmed that there was no warrant or anything for that matter presented to the people when the act was carried out by the invaders. “Furthermore, residences of other government officials that worked with Matawalle during his four-year administration were also invaded and some of their personal vehicles were carted away by the same group. “If investigation is not taken, hoodlums may wear uniforms and attack perceived enemies in the name of such operations. “As a party, we will not tolerate that and we will watch closely how the authorities concerned will handle the situation so that we will know whether the police and the DSS are working for the PDP or Nigeria,” he said. Muda urged party supporters and Matawalle’s loyalists to remain calm and not take laws into their hands, pending investigation by police authorities.

Orezi reacts as IGP orders immediate arrest of Seun Kuti

Singer Orezi has expressed shock and has reacted to the order of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the immediate arrest of Seun Kuti. In the late hours of yesterday, May 14th, video footage of famous singer and political activist, Seun Kuti assaulting a policeman on the streets of Lagos.

After the video went viral, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Baba Usman Alkali ordered the arrest of Seun Kuti for slapping an officer of the law. Reacting to the incident, singer Orezi has expressed shock over the swift move of the IGP concerning the issue. He compared instances where policemen have assaulted innocent citizens and gone scot-free without any reactions or indictments from the IGP.

Following the outcry that trailed a video of Seun Kuti slapping a police officer on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba-Usman has ordered the arrest of the Afrobeats singer. The Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the police chief also ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

He also assured Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book. IGP orders investigation into Portable’s claim of forming ‘one million boys’ cult group

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered an investigation into Portable’s claim of forming some deadly cult groups in Lagos State.
The fast-rising singer had announced in a now-deleted video on his Instagram page that he founded two notorious cult groups: One-Million Boys, and Ajah Boys, terrorizing some parts of Lagos State.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, says the IGP has ordered the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Biodun Alabi, to investigate the indicting statement and take necessary legal action.
On Twitter, CSP Adejobi wrote: “Cultism: Police to Investigate Portable over formation of One Million Boys.
“Sequel to the trending video of one Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable where he claimed to have formed the One-Million Boys cult group terrorising some parts of Lagos State, the IGP has ordered.
“CP Lagos to investigate the indicting statement and take necessary legal action. This directive is premised on the continuous effort of the Nigeria Police Force to fish out pillars and sponsors of cult groups in order to decimate their activities and restore sanity to our society.”

IGP reveals why husband of late singer is yet to be arraigned in court

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on Wednesday, April 20th, revealed what is keeping Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi, from being arraigned in court amid accusations fingering him in the death of his wife.
The IGP, who received the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Kedem Tallen, OFR, in his office at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja, noted that the command has approached the National Hospital, Abuja, for post-mortem examinations on Osinachi’s corpse to ascertain the cause of death.
The IGP added that after the post-mortem examinations result, the deceased husband will be charged to court.

Reports say the Minister’s visit to the IGP bordered on the plight of women in Nigeria, particularly in relation to gender and domestic-based violence.

Reacting to the death of Osinachi whose demise triggered a public outcry, the IGP noted that the untimely death is heart-breaking, particularly as information from sources close to the family and independent witnesses fingered her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, as being responsible for her death.

He stated that the FCT Command of the Nigeria Police Force, in whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, arrested the deceased’s husband at about 5pm on Sunday 10th April 2022 at their residence in Lugbe, Abuja. The suspect is currently in detention at the FCT Police Command even as investigations are still ongoing.

Reiterating his commitment to ensure that cases of domestic violence, sexual and gender-based violence, rape, and other social vices are accorded utmost attention, the IGP promised to bring perpetrators to justice according to the provisions of extant laws.

IGP to punish viral police officer for smoking weed on duty

The Nigeria Police Force has commenced disciplinary action against one of its officers who was allegedly captured consuming an illicit drug while on duty.

The embattled officer’s photo showing the moment he was smoking Cannabis (weed) while sitting on a chair in the Ijora area of Lagos state, went viral on Friday, April 8.
In reaction to the photo, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi condemned the act, noting that he has contacted the Lagos Police Command to fish out the officer, name and shame him.

Adding that the officer will face disciplinary action from the office of the Inspector-General of Police, Adejobi, via his Twitter handle wrote:
“The police have commenced necessary action on this ugly scene. We have contacted Lagos Command to fish him out, name and shame him, and necessary disciplinary action will be taken from the office of the IGP with immediate effect.

“This is condemned in its totality as such is unpolice. It’s quite unfortunate that we can see an officer of the police, on uniform, degenerates to this level. We must kick again this to serve as a deterrent to others. Thanks. MUYIWA Adejobi.”
