Senate President Godswill Akpabio and chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja on Tuesday after the inauguration of the 10th Senate. This is coming after Akpabio’s emergence as the country’s Senate President of the 10th National Assembly today.
Senator Godswill Akpabio Recall that on Monday, the Imo Governor who chaired a small technical committee to help coordinate the process of Tuesday’s election in the Senate and the House of Representatives said his team is hopeful of a landslide victory for the Akpabio. However, Akpabio emerged as the winner to beat his contender, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). With this, President Bola Tinubu most likely has fulfilled his deal to make sure the former governor of Akwa Ibom State becomes president of the senate after stepping down for him to win the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress.
This was made known on Thursday 14th April by Mr Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, during an appearance on the Politics Today program on Channels Television. Morka added that Tinubu is expected to resume his duties promptly upon his return from Europe. Tinubu’s Whereabouts Ahead of Inauguration “He [Tinubu] is probably in Europe. He’s fine. After the elections and all of the energy expended, he just decided to take a moment of rest. “Once he returns and he’s inaugurated on May 29, there will be no dulling. He’ll be saddled with the responsibility of running a country as massive and complex as Nigeria. “I know he’ll be back in the country very shortly.” He added, “It is working rest because even in his rest, he is also taking the time to reach out to heads of government and other levels of leadership of other countries that are vital to the agenda that he’s bringing in his new government. “So, he’s not sleeping in his bed; he’s also in meetings regularly with all kinds of people who are travelling from other countries to see him preparatory to his inauguration. So, it’s a working visit.” 
In her words: “Before the results of the presidential elections were declared, I came out to say that if Bola Tinubu won the election, I would renounce my citizenship in Nigeria and I have my reasons. When he won, people called me and said he would not do anything bad. But I am endangered by the current situation. I have been ostracised and humiliated in places where I should be honoured because of his not being at peace with me.
Festus Keyamo, his spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday, March 25: “We have watched with great concern the condemnable activities of some persons and groups who are desirous of truncating our democracy. For reasons best known to them, these persons have remained embitt£red that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared winner of the 2023 General Elections. Repeatedly, but unfortunately, these misguided individuals have called for either the cancellation of the results or that the President-elect should not be inaugurated on the 29th of May, 2023. We wish to reiterate and emphasise that these positions are not in tandem with our constitutional provisions or our electoral laws. We would have taken these as mere wishful thinking, however, because of their implications for national security and public order, we have therefore considered it necessary, if not expedient, to call them to order. We are aware of the intentions of those engaged in these treasonable and subversive acts. We also know those involved in the many plots being contrived to undermine the transition in particular and democracy in general. They have done it in this country before and it threw the country into avoidable cri§es for many years and they want to do it again. They are bent on delegitimizing the new government. Some have made treasonable insinuations and openly called for military take-over. It is for these reasons that they are de§perate to incite the people against the incoming Government. It is perplexing to see that those contesting the results want to be in the courts and on the streets at the same time. However, if their intention is to truncate the inauguration of the President-elect and Vice-President-elect, they should immediately bury the thought. It is gratifying to note that the President has set in motion steps for the actualisation of the swearing-in ceremonies.“
