A newly married husband is confused as his wife asks him to quit his banking job that pays 1 Million Naira because his ex-girlfriend also works there. The story was shared to the microblogging platform, X, by a close friend to the husband, @danielholkss. According to him, the couple tied the knot 8 months ago and prior to their marriage, the husband worked together with the ex-girlfriend. This has now become a problem to the wife who thinks there is a possibility of the husband and ex-girlfriend rekindling old flames. Although the banking job pays him very well, 1 Million Naira every month alongside other benefits, the woman still insists he should quit and join her in managing her shop. Her family has agreed to her proposition while his family asks that they are left out of the matter. He wrote; “My friend is having a big problem in his marriage. He is newly wedded of just 8 months. He works in the same bank with his ex-girlfriend. He is comfortable and well to do. He works in a bank in Nigeria and earns more than 1M monthly plus other benefits. He has opened shops for the wife in different locations, and these are doing well, too. But here is where the problem lies, his wife wants him to resign from his job, and the reason is that she is not comfortable with the husband working in the same bank with his ex. She is scared they might be getting back together, the wife’s family are involved, and they also support this. The husband’s family told him to find a way to sort it. They don’t want to be involved. Should he resign?” SEE POST HERE

How I lost a well-paying job because of a bottle of beer
A man, former Safaricom employee Chris Kim, known as Chris Recovery, has shared the harrowing details of how a bottle of beer cost him his job at the telecommunications giant. Kim recounted the events leading to his job loss, revealing that a fateful day, he lost control while attempting to satisfy his hunger. “I used to drink a lot, so that day, I had taken a walk and was very hungry; I was just telling God to help me get food as I had not eaten that day,” he said.
Kim bumped into an ex-girlfriend who gave him KSh 100, with which he purchased basic food items. However, his day took a dark turn when he decided to enter a local pub named Kwa Irungu for a quick drink, as he explained that each glass of beer cost KSh 25. Once inside the pub, Kim found himself receiving drinks from others, and before he knew it, it was already 3 am. Unbeknownst to him, his employer, Safaricom, had been desperately trying to reach him. “A call centre manager had tried calling me. I had gone as far as where the brothel was to go and ask the ladies to sleep with me on credit,” Chris added. He went on to share the shocking revelation that he sold his sofa to a neighbour after entering his house at 4 am. The repercussions of that night extended to his professional life, with Safaricom ultimately terminating his employment. “I went to a pub called Aston Villa, and that is the last time I went to Safaricom. They really looked for me, asked my sister Angela, but I was nowhere to be seen. The termination letter was given to my sister,” the man said. Despite the loss of a well-paying job and the disappointment of his family, Chris Kim believes that his journey took a turn for a reason. “My colleagues are now managers, but I always say God had a purpose. If I had stayed there I would have drunk myself to death and wouldn’t have helped other people in the rehab,” he added. Chris, who has since found sobriety, now dedicates his life to helping others overcome alcohol addiction. Urging fellow alcoholics to seek help and avoid playing the blame game, he emphasizes the importance of facing one’s demons and embarking on the path to recovery. Chris acknowledges the magnitude of his loss. In his words; “It was a big loss, my family was disappointed.” However, he hopes that by sharing his story, he can inspire others to confront their struggles, seek assistance, and embrace the possibility of a brighter future beyond addiction. Netizens Reactions… @Eli said; “I am 25 and promised to myself I’ll never try get into alcoholism.” @Jayneet Jay said; “Aki “”fobe”” wewe my bro sold my KSH 25,000 TV at KSh 2000 sijai heal Hadi waleo.” @lennymwangi87 said; “Hio Pipeline ni noma, tena kuna Club tonnies and Aston villa.” @user5613328724601 said; “Hebu niambie mtu akiwacha pombe huwa na anger issues coz my hubby stopped drinking like two months ago but ako na makasiriko sana hata hatuongeleshani.” @Pesh peshy said; “I spend almost KSh 200,000 on alcohol within 1 month.” @Daggitos said; “So encouraging. “Cars no dey go there” – Man discloses he rides on boat to new job he got
GistReel
A Nigerian young man who got a new job has taken to his page to narrate his experience and how he rides on a boat to get to his workplace.
He disclosed that he met a driver whose documents had expired, which caused his commute to take an unexpected turn.
Unfazed, the man used a boat to traverse through flooded areas and eventually arrived at a section of Lagos where buses were not available, requiring a lengthy walk.
The man encountered difficulties getting instructions to his location of employment, even though he asked questions.
A young man shares his ordeal after finding a new job. Photo source:
Narrating his ordeal, he said,
In his words, “I got another job, this time interning at a relocation and travel agency, and maybe I will just japa from here. I remember last week I was so sad because I lost my first job, but now I’m so happy.
“The best part is they didn’t even interview me; they said I should just resume immediately. On my way to work, I was talking about road safety and I told him don’t worry I will fight for you. Don’t you know me lawyer? This wicked driver did not tell me that he has not renewed his papers since 2010.
“This office was far and I called the HR number but they said I should keep going that I will see small flood that when I see the flood I will know that I’m close but the bus I’m in might not agree to pass, see me thinking that I will use KeKe, but what we used was boat, this is not even a boat it’s fence.
“The man was even saying that I should paddle fast. We got to part of Lagos there were no buses anymore, only trekking. I called HR. The woman said I should keep coming. I kept trying to ask people for directions, but nobody was replying me Finally, somebody replied to me, and the person was speaking French. I might not be the smartest person but I know the person was speaking French.
“I opened my Google map, and it was telling me I was seven minutes away from the Seme border. After trekking like an Israelite, I finally found the office they were talking about. It was so small. What these people didn’t tell me is that they handle relocation to Cotonou, not London to Cotonou or Cameroon; that’s why they’re so damn close to the border.
“One of my coworkers said he knows me from Instagram and that I should not make any videos. When we closed, I asked this man, if he could drop me, he said that I will give him money for fuel. I asked him how much, and he said N10k. I said ah! How much much is the whole salary. Anyway, the same way I came was the same way I left. In fact I got better at paddling and they gave me life jacket.”

Woman who works as house help in Iraq celebrates as she builds mansion back home from her job saving
Susan Akinyi Khatchina, a Kenyan woman who works as a house help in Iraq, has proudly unveiled a magnificent mansion she built using her earnings from her job. Susan’s journey to success has been marked by perseverance and determination, overcoming challenges and setbacks along the way. Susan, a mother of two, ventured to Iraq in 2018 after a previous stint in Saudi Arabia did not yield the desired outcome. Undeterred by past experiences, she took up a job as a house help with a lecturer at Baghdad University. Beyond the regular housework, Susan took on additional responsibilities that would prove to be pivotal in her dream of building her own home. Speaking to Kenyan media outlet TUKO.co.ke, Susan revealed that she had earned a substantial amount by assisting her employer with exam papers. Towards the end of each academic term, her employer would entrust Susan with the task of arranging exam papers in six boxes. In return for her meticulous work, she would be rewarded with KSh 142,000 (approximately N784,414.05). This occurred four times a year, giving Susan a steady income stream that she diligently saved to achieve her goal. With her determination to improve her family’s living conditions, Susan decided to take on the ambitious project of building a new home. Utilizing a total sum of KSh 1.42 million (approximately N7,844,140.53), which included everything from furniture to a water tank, she began constructing her dream mansion in 2020. I bought the tractor at KSh 142,000.I was not only doing housework. My employer was a lecturer at Baghdad University, as I told you. Towards the end of the term, she would come with the exam papers in six boxes and ask me to arrange them for her. After that, she would pay me KSh 142,000. She would do that like four times a year.” Susan’s passion for her family’s well-being and her commitment to paying off the loan led her to achieve her dreams. She added; “When that house had fallen to the ground, I asked my employer to loan me KSh 800,000, and she accepted. So she gave me the money, and I started the building project as I worked to pay the loan. She gave me a waiver of about KSh 270,000 (N1,492,256.21). She has helped me,” the Kakamega lady praised her boss. In her hometown of Kakamega, Kenya, Susan’s accomplishment has become an inspiration for many.
