The entire 109 Senators of the 10th Senate collectively contributed their one-month salaries, totalling N109 million, to aid the victims of a bombing accident in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. This comes days after the military accidentally bombed a community with claims of being fed the wrong intel for the operation. On Sunday the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, during a visit to the Kaduna Government House with a high-powered delegation of the Senate announced the generous gesture to the victims. The Senators were warmly received by the state governor, Senator Uba Sani. In a statement by his Special Adviser Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau explained that the donated funds would be transmitted to the state governor for subsequent distribution to the affected victims. Expressing gratitude, the governor thanked the Senators for their donation, which amounted to their December salaries. The Senate delegation, including Senate leader Senator Micheal Opayemi Bamidele, Chief Whip Senator Ali Ndume, Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro, Deputy Minority Leader Senator Kamorudeen Olarere, Senator Abdulhamid Malam-Madori, Senator Aliyu Ikra Bilbis, Senator Ibrahim Bomoi, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Muntari Dandutse, Senator Lawal Usman, and Senator Emmanuel Udende, also visited the victims at the Barau Dikko Hospital.
“After leaving office I’ll only visit Kaduna if it becomes necessary”
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has said that after handing over to the incoming government on May 29, he will only visit the North-West state if it becomes necessary. The Kaduna state Governor said this at a policy conversation and book launch in Abuja on Tuesday, May 9.
El-Rufai further revealed that he won’t be returning to his former position as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory even if offered. He said; “I have done my job, I’m done, I don’t look back. In fact when I left FCT, the only time I visited FCT was in 2016 when my secondary school classmate was appointed the minister and he said he wanted to see me, so I went there. “Once I leave a job, I don’t look back. If I leave Kaduna in 19 days, I will only visit if it becomes necessary.
“So, I don’t think about the FCT. I’ve done my bit. I don’t comment on the performance of those that came after me. “Even if offered, I’m not coming to Abuja. As I say, I never repeat class and there are many young people I know that I can recommend that would do even better job than I did as minister of FCT. “I’m too old for this. I’m too old for demolition, get a young man with blood in his veins or a young woman.”
20 dead as gunmen attack Southern Kaduna community
A group of gunmen attacked the Sankwab community located in the Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna killing at least 20 people.
On Saturday night, the attackers invaded and destroyed several homes while causing damage to properties worth millions of naira. The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the incident but did not disclose the exact number of casualties. According to a source, the perpetrators, who are believed to be Fulani militia, opened fire randomly and killed at least twenty villagers, causing panic and forcing residents to flee for their lives. However, the military’s timely intervention helped to contain the situation. In response to the latest killings in Southern Kaduna, the Commissioner revealed that the military had informed the state government of the significant loss of lives. In a statement released to newsmen on Sunday, titled “Several lives lost in Runji village of Zangon Kataf LGA… El-Rufai condemns killings,” he reported that the attack resulted in numerous fatalities and many residents sustaining injuries. Additionally, according to the preliminary report submitted to the state government, an unspecified number of houses were burned. Commissioner’s Statement on Attack in Southern Kaduna “The military has informed the Kaduna State Government of an attack in Runji village, Zangon Kataf LGA, in which several lives were lost on Saturday night. “The preliminary report further informed the government that the attack also left some residents injured and an unspecified number of houses burnt down in the community. “According to the report, troops had a fierce encounter with the attackers and are still in the general area. “While waiting for a detailed report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai who received the preliminary report in the early hours of Sunday has condemned the killings as unacceptable and unjustifiable. “The Governor condoled the families that lost their loved ones and prayed for the repose of the victims’ souls. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. “The Kaduna State Government will update the public on the incident as soon as detailed reports are received from the security agencies.”
Bandits abduct 10 students from a secondary school in Kaduna
At least 10 students have been abducted by bandits from Government Day Secondary School in Awon, Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. The Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement on Tuesday, April 4, said the students were abducted on Monday, April 3rd. Auwan said the State Government received preliminary reports from security agencies regarding the kidnap of the students. According to reports, in Aruwan’s press release, the exact location of the incident is yet to be ascertained but detailed reports being awaited will clarify whether the incident occurred within the school premises or elsewhere. “The Government will issue a public statement accordingly when these reports are received,” the commissioner stated.

Sadiq Ango, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerges winner of the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency of Kaduna state with 33,616 votes. Sadiq was one of the freed hostages of the Abuja-Kaduna train terrorist attack. Sadiq, the son of Professor Ango Abdullahi, Convener of the Northern Elder’s Forum, and late Hajiya Aisha, “Mama Taraba”, former Minister of Women Affairs, was released by the terrorists on Saturday, July 9, 2022 after three months in captivity. EFCC nabs woman with 18 PVCs in Kaduna State
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on the 25th of February 2023, intercepted a woman with 18 PVCs in Kaduna State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Badarwa area of Kaduna, Kaduna State. The suspect identified as Maryam Mamman Alhaji, a member of the support group of one of the leading political parties, also had in her possession, a 17-page list containing names of eligible voters, their bank details, and phone numbers as accredited under Badarwa/Malali Ward 01 and 08, Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State. She was nabbed after undercover operatives pretended they had voter cards and were desperate to sell them. The culprit is currently being grilled by operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC. EFCC is also in the process of unravelling other members of her syndicate whom she claimed are also collecting voters’ cards and paying monies through PoS or direct bank transfers
Kaduna couple and six children perish in fire accident
A tragic incident took place in the Sabon gari area of Zaria, Kaduna State where a family of eight, including a couple and their six children, lost their lives in a fire that destroyed their home. The incident occurred on February 23, 2023, around 2 am in the Hayin Ojo area while the family was asleep. According to a report from Daily Trust, Mallam Junaidu Mohammed, a neighbour, confirmed the tragic incident on Friday. “Though we could not ascertain the cause of the inferno, it started around 2am on Thursday when everybody was asleep. “But we could not rescue the family alive. All efforts to get the fire service to the scene were not successful. We didn’t see firefighters until we buried the victims,” Mohammed stated. Elder brother of the deceased father, Adamu Mohammed, said, “Those who lost their lives in the inferno include his late brother, Mallam Rabi’u Mohammed and his wife, Fatima. Others were his six children, Rabiatu, Ibrahim, Abubakar, Hauwa’u, Hindatu and Baby Umar, who was about 34 days old. We actually could not identify the cause of the fire, but the whole house was completely burnt.” All the possessions in the house were entirely destroyed. The deceased family members were laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.
