Manchester United have ended their interest in signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The Guardian reported that United are now ready to look elsewhere having accepted the Spurs captain will be too expensive and is out of their reach. Tottenham captain, Harry Kane. Spurs value Kane at around £100 million, despite his contract which would soon expire. Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, is keen to hold on to Kane, in the hope that he signs a new contract and despite the knowledge that he could lose the striker for free next summer. He also does not entertain the idea of selling Kane to a direct rival. Real Madrid have also expressed an interest in Kane, but with Kylian Mbappé now a possible option they may opt against pursuing a deal for the England captain. Tottenham owner, Daniel Levy. United are still keen to sign the Atalanta forward Rasmus Højlund, who has had an impressive first season in Serie A after joining from Sturm Graz. The 20-year-old scored nine times in 32 league games for the Bergamo side and United like the potential he is showing. But he would not be seen as a regular starter in the No 9 position in 2023-24 even if they could sign him during the summer. Atalanta could, however, ask for as much as €60 million for the Dane.
Harry Kane breaks Premier League records with goals against Leeds
Harry Kane has scripted new Premier League records with his brace against Leeds today, May 28. The Tottenham captain equalled an impressive Premier League record set by Andy Cole with his goals for Tottenham against Leeds. Jack Harrison pulled one back before Kane got his second. Lucas Moura added Spurs’ fourth.

He steered clear of Andy Cole and Les Ferdinand, who both have 9 goals each on the final day of a Premier League season. Kane has also scored in 26 different Premier League games this season. It is the joint-most games any player has scored in within a single campaign in the competition. He is now level with Manchester United legend Cole, who set the record while playing for Newcastle in 1993-94. Kane’s brace against Leeds took him to 30 goals in the Premier League for the season. He is now the first player to hit 30 goals or more in two separate top-flight campaigns, having also achieved the feat in 2017-18. Harry Kane sandwiched between two Leeds players. The Red Devils are in the market for a new striker and have reportedly listed Kane as their favoured candidate heading into the summer window. Making his 320th Premier League appearance today, May 28, Kane has raced to 213 goals. He also has 46 assists. In the 2022-23 season, Kane finished as the second-highest scorer in the league with 30 goals. Only, Erling Haaland (36) managed to score more.
Harry Kane breaks England’s all-time goalscoring record
Tottenham legend, Harry Kane on Thursday night, smashed England’s all-time goalscoring record after converting a penalty in the 2-1 win against Italy. Harry Kane netted his 54th goal for the Three Lions from the penalty spot to seal his name in history. He and Wayne Rooney had been tied on 53 goals heading into Thursday’s match. Kane reached the milestone in his 81st appearance for England, 39 fewer games than the current DC United manager. His goal made it 2-0 for Gareth Southgate’s side after Declan Rice netted the opener against the reigning European champions. Speaking after the game, Kane said: “I was on the pitch when Wayne broke the record and I know what it meant to him and how proud I was. When I presented him the boot for breaking the record, he said he’d be giving it back to me one day. He’s a special guy, and England legend.” Wayne Rooney has also paid tribute to Harry Kane. He tweeted; “Congratulations to @HKane on becoming @England’s all-time leading goalscorer. I knew it wouldn’t take long but that was quick. Great man, unbelievable goalscorer and an England legend. Congrats Harry” Congratulations to @HKane on becoming @England’s all-time leading goalscorer. I knew it wouldn’t take long but that was quick 🤣. Great man, unbelievable goalscorer and an England legend. Congrats Harry 👏👏👏 pic.twitter.com/mX7M8S8al3 — Wayne Rooney (@WayneRooney) March 23, 2023 Rooney offered a lengthier tribute to Kane in The Times. He wrote; “When I broke the England goalscoring record, with a penalty against Switzerland in September 2015, Harry Kane was the first player to run over and celebrate with me. I later mentioned Harry in the speech I made in the dressing room. “I said that I hoped the young players in the squad would come close to the record themselves, and even be able to surpass me. Harry had scored only three England goals at that point — but I said those words because I knew he could do it. Even then, with only four caps under his belt, I knew he could become England’s greatest scorer if he kept going the way he was and I wanted to give him encouragement. “I am delighted for him, for his family, and for the England team now he has done it, having scored his 54th England goal against Italy on Thursday night. Knowing Harry, it’s not something that will go to his head. He will kick on and, in fact, I believe that when he stops playing he will leave the England record in a place where it will be very difficult for someone else to break it. “He wants to be like Poland’s Robert Lewandowski, a goal machine who is still at the very top in his mid-thirties, and he has it in him to make that happen. I think Harry will finish with an England goals total well into the seventies.”
Harry Kane becomes Tottenham’s all-time top goal scorer
Harry Kane became Tottenham’s all-time top goal scorer with his 267th goal for the club in a home game against Manchester City on Sunday, February 5. The 29-year-old England striker reached the landmark with a low finish against Manchester City in his 304th Premier League game for Spurs. With the goal, Kane struck off Jimmy Greaves’s long-standing record to become Tottenham’s all-time top goal scorer. The England captain drew level with Greaves on 266 goals for the north London club when he fired in the opening goal against Fulham at Craven Cottage on January 23. Greaves, who started his career at Chelsea, scored 266 goals in 379 games for Spurs between 1961 and 1970. Kane, who made his Spurs debut in 2011, overtook Greaves’ record after 415 appearances for the club.
The England captain is the third top scorer since the Premier League was created in 1992; after Alan Shearer, with 260, and Wayne Rooney, with 208. He has reached his double century of goals in the competition in fewer games than both of those two, with Shearer taking 306 games and Rooney needing 462 to reach the tally. He has scored 17 league goals this season and 19 in total for Spurs, 11 more than the next highest scorer for the club, Son Heung-min. Kane is also just one goal away from becoming the leading all-time goalscorer for England. He is currently tied at 53 with Rooney.
