Wike, Makinde, Ibori Support Tinubu, Says President on Right Path

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, and former Delta State Governor James Ibori were at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday to express their support for President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove petroleum subsidies. The trio arrived at the State House at 4:20 p.m. on Friday.

Subsidy Removal

From 1999 to 2007, Ibori and President Tinubu served as governors, while Wike recently resigned from office after eight years in office. When asked why they were at the Villa, Makinde responded, “To let him know that he has started well and that he has the support of the generality of the people.” When asked if they discussed the subsidy issue, he replied, “Yes, we discussed it.” It is currently at the forefront of public debate. We understand that this is a difficult decision for the people, and he will need everyone’s help to see it through.”

Oyo State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Seyi Makinde, was on Sunday, March 19, declared as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Seyi Makinde re-elected as Oyo Governor Makinde polled 563,756 votes to beat his close rival Teslim Folarin of All Progressive Congress who scored 256,685 votes, while Adebayo Adelabu of Accord Party scored 38,357 votes. The PDP candidate won 31 out of the 33 local government areas in the state, while Folarin came second by winning two local governments of Irepo and Ore-lope.

The state Returning Officer, Olusola Kehinde who announced Makinde’s victory, said; “That Makinde Oluseyi having satisfied the requirement of the law is declared winner of the poll.”

Actress, Yetunde Bakare writes and open letter to Nigerian politicians asking them to take a cue from Government Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

Her call comes on the heels of Seyi Makinde’s early lead in the just concluded gubernatorial elections. The actress shared a video, where some indigenes of Ibadan trooped out in their numbers in excitement, over Seyi Makinde’s high chances of re-election into power. According to Bakare, Seyi Makinde reflects the importance of being a good leader. She insists Makinde is loved and this was evident in the manner in which he is being celebrated even before the official announcement of results by INEC. Yetunde Bakare, however, urged politicians to not always wait till their tenure is up before starting to do the needful and to emulate Seyi Makinde. She wrote: “Dear Politicians y’all needs to learn from GOV SEYI MAKINDE of OYO STATE, his people love him because he’s a good man and they started jubilating, chanting his name even before INEC starts counting all the results ✅ Now that you know the citizens know better and they deserve the very best y’all need to sit tight and do better 👌 Don’t always wait till your tenure is almost over before you start doing the needful in other to use it to contest for 2nd term ! We’re not dump and we don’t have Amnesia so we’ll always remember everything you do and hold you accountable!
