Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has joined the chorus of voices expressing concern over the growing hardship faced by Nigerians. She criticized the government’s proposed palliative plan, describing it as both a “joke” and a “slap” in the face of the suffering populace. With the ongoing economic challenges and rising inflation rates, the plight of ordinary Nigerians has worsened, making it difficult for many to afford basic necessities. The government’s N8,000 monthly assistance to the poor has been deemed inadequate and insufficient to alleviate the hardships faced by the majority. Iyabo Ojo’s comments echo the frustrations felt by many citizens who have been grappling with the impact of the economic downturn. In her words; “I hope Nigerians have the strength to hold on b4 we begin to reap this our imaginary Renewed Hope….. There is serious hunger in the land, and 8k monthly to the pøor is definitely not the solution… That is definitely a joke & a slap”. See below;

Nigerian man picks Nigeria over England for barber profession

Nigerian Barber England Profession

During an exclusive conversation, a Nigerian barber shared his reasons for choosing to remain and practice his profession in Nigeria rather than pursuing a career in England. When asked about his contentment with living and earning as a barber in Nigeria, he explained that there were numerous factors influencing his decision, with one significant aspect being the stark contrast in the cost of living between England and Nigeria.

Furthermore, he expressed his deep passion for his work. However, he emphasized that even if he were offered 20 Euros in England, he would still prefer earning 3,000 or 5,000 Naira in Nigeria. His rationale was that by working in Nigeria, he could take home a more reasonable amount of income at the end of each month, whereas in England, a substantial portion of his earnings would be consumed by high expenses such as shop rent and other necessary work-related costs. He further elaborated on the additional financial burdens he would face in England, including the need to pay for housing and various bills. Ultimately, he concluded that the manageable expenses in Nigeria made it a more favorable option for him to live and work as a barber compared to the potential challenges he would encounter in England. Abroad-based man hits jackpot after returning to Nigeria with wife

A Nigerian man who has been suffering abroad with nothing to show for it has made it big after returning to Nigeria to hustle with his wife. According to the young man identified as @shamseddinGiwa on Twitter, he relocated abroad with his wife several years ago in search of a better life.

Giwa highlighted that many other people who had relocated abroad had it worse, with some having their spouses back home and their marriages going through even more difficulties. He said: “What’s the point? Relocating will test you and your marriage in different ways. Please be sure before you copy anyone and sell all you have to move.
However, if you find yourself stuck, have a good exit plan even if it means coming back home to start over. “Many people and marriages are breaking due to the pressure unplanned. Don’t go this route, do your findings well, your home depends on it,” he said.
They were always at the mercy of the home office and this made them feel unsettled even while working.” After thinking this through, the couple quietly came back to Nigeria to start life afresh and decades on, everything they sought abroad got handed to them back home. @drham reacted: “Interesting! The moral of this story is- do not engage in illegal relocation, and if you do, have 2-3 backup plans. Whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well and carefully planned! I’m glad things are working well for you now!” @Adetade6 commented: “Maybe it’s the oldskool in me, honestly, I have never for once consider japa for any reason be it hustle or settling down.” @Oluwakayy reacted: “Moral of the story. Never leave your country as an illegal immigrant. That’s the part you ought to have underscored. Most Nigerians leaving at this time leaves with student or work visa, so their reality is different. Of course, it’s not all bed of roses but it’s far better.” See the tweet below: The relocation story you don’t get told. This was us several years back as a young couple looking for better life abroad. The dream was good, the intentions were good and we had enough to start. We just didn’t have enough information of how challenging it would get. We started… pic.twitter.com/rWMWtpYln4 — SHAMSEDDIN GIWA (@shamseddinGiwa) July 10, 2023
