A socio-political activist, Reno Omokri, has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu attended and graduated from the Chicago State University. The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his party tendered the document along with other documents to prove the allegations in their joint petition challenging Tinubu’s declaration as the winner of the February 25 presidential election. Reacting, Omokri cautioned the PDP, saying Tinubu should not be attacked based on lies because God will lift him above his attackers. The staunch ally of Atiku stressed that Tinubu graduated with honours from the Chicago State University. Tweeting, Omokri wrote: “I worked for Waziri Atiku Abubakar to win. I pray he unseats Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petition Court. And I am not pursuing any political appointment or job offer from Tinubu. “However, it is false to assert that Bola Tinubu did not attend Chicago State University. I went there physically. I did a video broadcast from their campus. I met their officials. Tinubu attended and graduated from Chicago State University with honours, and they even have a photo of him in their alumni office as one of their most accomplished alumni. “Not only did I go there physically to expose Tinubu (only to find out that he attended), I also asked their registry to put what they told me in writing. “Attached is the letter they gave me. You can also go there physically, as I did, or email or phone them if you doubt this letter given to me. “The man is no saint. His past cartel links indelibly taint him. But let us be fair, honest and transparent as we oppose him. If we attack Tinubu based on lies, God will just disappoint us further and appoint him greater.”

Akpabio is the first South-Southerner to be elected President of the Senate since Nigeria got its independence in 1960. Reacting to this via his official Instagram page, Reno Omokri wrote, ‘‘Ideally, the Senate Presidency should have gone to a Northern Christian to balance both the religious and regional factors. Let us learn from our history instead of repeating history and accusing history of repeating itself. “We have a Southern President and Chief Justice as heads of the Executive and Judiciary. As a result, the head of the Legislature ought to have been a Northerner. Anytime there is an imbalance in the three arms of Government, Nigeria has always faced political instability. Sharing power equitably is the only antidote to that volatility.”

Reacting to the report, Reno Omokri emphasized that he finds the approach revengeful other than tactical despite placing Tinubu on a high pedestal. reno omokriPolitical activist, Reno Omokri. President Tinubu started well. Indeed, I have had cause to praise him. But he should not mar the progress he has made by this act of seeming vengeance. The country needs unity and stability after a fractious election. Now is the time for appeasement, not punishment. Nigerians who can’t afford new fuel price should buy bicycles or trek – Omokri

Popular political activist, Reno Omokri has advised Nigerians to buy bicycles or trek if they are unable to afford the new prices for fuel. Source: Google After the announcement was made by Bola Tinubu, fuel station dealers increased the prices of fuel and also hoarded their petroleum products. After the prices of fuel were increased, some celebrities have taken to their pages to complain bitterly. Celebrities like Timaya, Tiwa Savage, Speed Darlington, and others. Speed Darlington called for a referendum after he bought 5 liters of fuel for N5000 at a fuel station. In reaction to the ongoing saga, Reno Omokri has advised Nigerians who cannot afford the new fuel prices to trek or buy bicycles and use them for their daily activities. Taking to his social media page, he wrote: “I just returned from Ghana. They are an oil-producing nation, like Nigeria. Yet, they don’t have cheap petrol like Nigeria. Petrol (Premium Motor Spirit) in Ghana is GH₵13.2 per liter at the official rate, which is ₦550. Ghana does not subsidize petrol. That is why they have enough money left to put other things in place, like power plants for 24/7 uninterrupted electricity, good schools, and hospitals, etc.   “We can’t be pissing away our national wealth on an unsustainable fuel subsidy, which is mainly consumed by city dwellers who have multiple cars, and be surprised why we have infrastructural deficits.   “Lagos, Kaduna, and Abuja now have trains and commercial buses. Other states should follow suit. Nigerians who cannot afford the new fuel prices should be encouraged and helped by the government to acquire environmentally friendly alternatives, like bicycles.   “And let us trek some more. It is even good. Our population is exploding. We have one of the fastest-growing populations on Earth. Our population is growing faster than our economy. If we are too busy walking from point A to B, we will also be too busy to make babies we have challenges raising.”

According to him, some of these popular figures come online to flaunt various brand new cars they have bought but are complaining when government stops subsidizing their fuel. He wrote: “Some of the people I see complaining of the removal of fuel subsidy and the sudden sharp increase in fuel prices have multiple cars. Some of them have come on this very Twitter to flaunt their latest brand-new luxury cars. My dear, why should a poor country like Nigeria be subsidising fuel for you, a yeyebrity with five vehicles that you use for flaunting, fronting and chasing girls? Go and pay! If you can’t pay, vamoose from Nigeria to any country that will tolerate subsidies for rich people. It is because of your likes that previous subsidies never trickled down to people with low incomes who really need it. Oni iranu like you! You want Nigeria to become like Venezuela, an oil rich country that was rained by cheap petro!!” Nigeria’s state oil firm NNPC Ltd on Wednesday hiked petrol prices to as high as 557 naira ($1.21) per litre from 189 naira, days after new President Bola Tinubu said fuel subsidies would be scrapped. The increase signals an end to the fuel subsidy regime that the NNPC says costs it $867 million every month. Nigerians will have to brace for higher transport fares while businesses which rely on petrol generators because the grid electricity supply is meagre, face higher costs.

He has since been in police custody even though a magistrate court in Lagos granted him bail hours after his arrest. In a post via Twitter, Reno Omokri condemned Seun’s act, however, justifying it with PTSD due to childhood of the singer.

Omokri on PSTD claims “What Seun did was wrong. And I condemn it. But Seun has a history with the police and the military that has scarred him for life. They beat his Septuagenarian grandmother and threw her from the first floor to the ground. She died from the injuries sustained. His father carried her coffin to Dodan barracks in tears! Till today, NOBODY was punished for the crime against Olufunmilayo Kuti. They beat his father to an inch of his life. Multiple times. They burnt down their residence, with multiple vets and other property. They were never paid compensation. The police raided the shrine episodically, right from when Seun was a baby to his adulthood. And even in this incident involving the slap, there was provocation from the policeman. I am not saying that the provocation justified the slap. My motive is just to put things in context. What he did was condemnable. It is unacceptable. But when you look at his personal history, there are mitigating circumstances. And I beg the Inspector General of Police to take Seun’s Post Traumatic Stress Disorder into account. Because even Buhari’s wife, Aisha, admitted that her husband also suffers from PTSD due to his experience with the Nigerian state apparatus. The police is as institutionally to blame for what happened to that policeman as Seun. Let us do story here and not just justice.” What Seun did was wrong. And I condemn it. “Fighting on social media can’t change court verdict” — Reno Omokri to party supporters

GistReel

reno omokri Political activist, Reno Omokri, cautions opposition parties against engaging in social media fights as he believes it would not influence the court decisions made by election petition tribunals. This comes ahead of the presidential election petitions court fixed for Monday, May 8 for the hearing of the petitions challenging Bola Tinubu‘s emergence as the president-elect. Reno Omokri urged opposition parties to pursue peace while he emphasized that the court’s declaration of the President would determine the future of the country. He made this known on Twitter on Saturday where he encouraged Nigerians to identify a cause that they can contribute to for the betterment of the nation. “Realise and accept that elections are over. The only hope for a change in who the next President will be is the courts. Fighting supporters of other parties on social media won’t affect the judicial outcome. So, let us heal and behave like human beings with a common destiny. The election brought about identities like Obidients, BATists, and Kwankwasiyya. Now, we need to step out of that limited circle and resume our original identity as Nigerians. Instead of abuse, let us amuse each other. Rather than curse, let us chart a new cause,” he added.

“A Northern Nigerian would’ve reported at mosque not police station” — Reno Omokri

Controversial Political activist, Reno Omokri weighs in on the sentencing of Ike Ekweremadu and his wife while stating a different scenario if the child involved was a Northern Nigerian. This comes following the incarceration of Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice over multiple charges involving attempted organ harvesting. According to Reno Omokri, his experience in Northern Nigeria taught him that Ike’s predicament would’ve been settled quietly without the involvement of the police.

Reno Omokri on how Ekweremadu’s case would’ve been settled ‘quietly’ in Northern Nigeria “If a Northern Nigerian Muslim had been brought to London by a desperate Northern Nigerian Muslim seeking to save his daughter’s life, and the intended donor changed his mind, he would most likely have headed over to the nearest mosque, rather than the nearest police station. Even in disagreement, my experience in Northern Nigeria taught me that they would rather use Islam for resolution than use other means. And that is one thing I will forever admire about Northern Nigerian Muslims. The fact that they tend to cover their own in good and bad times. No matter what the world says about their own, they will cuddle him or her publicly, and any rebuke would be done in private. That lifestyle builds unity, and unity brings power! I do not support what Ike Ekweremadu and his wife did. But I empathise with them. May God never permit me to be in the same position. I do not know what I would do in such circumstances. May the Almighty provide relief to the Ekweremadus. In Yeshua’s Name.”

Why Nigeria is not the worst country in the world — Reno Omokri

The controversial writer and activist, Reno Omokri cite the crisis in Ukraine and Sudan as he states why Nigeria is not the worst country in the world. Amidst the effort to evacuate stranded Nigerians in Sudan, the activist stirred reactions on social media with a notion to correct a stereotype about Nigeria. reno omokri According to Reno Omokri, when crises faced Nigerians in Ukraine, Sudan, and South Africa, the default option was to return home for safety. He argued that despite the claimed greener pasture outside Nigeria, it comes with just as many unforeseen issues. In his words … “Before we open our mouths to run down Nigeria and call or the worst country in the world (it is not), let us learn from the Sudan crisis. With war raging in Sudan, what happened to Nigerians who had japa’ed to Sudan? They are all trying to come home. When war hit Ukraine, what happened to Nigerians there? They were airlifted back home. When the xenophobic attacks erupted in South Africa, Nigerians were begging to be airlifted back home. Why? Because not all that glitters is gold. And not every house is as good as your home. May God bless Nigeria and Nigerians!” he added.

Reno Omokri trashes idea that Tems is first Nigeria to win Grammy

GistReel

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has trashed the comment on social media that Tems is the first Nigerian to win a Grammy award. reno omokri Nigerian singer Tems was nominated in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ and ‘Best Rap Song’ and won the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category on Sunday night, at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. After Tems win, a lot of have hailed her as they tag her as the first Nigerian songstress to win a Grammy award. However, Reno Omokri has debunked the claims that Tems is the first Nigerian adding that Nigerian-British singer, Sade Adu, never identified herself as a Nigerian. According to Reno, Sade has spent 40 years promoting Nigeria and it would be wrong to give her credit to Tems. He wrote: Sade Adu has always identified with Nigeria. When interviewed, she stressed her Nigerianness. She did not funkify her name to make it sound European. In interview after interview, she asserted the fact that she is a Nigerian born in Ibadan. So, let us appreciate her. She is the first Nigerian female to win a Grammy in 1986. In honouring another female who eminently deserves to be honoured, let us not dishonour Sade Adu. By saying someone else is the first Nigerian female to win a Grammy, what we are telling Ms. Adu is that she is not a Nigerian. I know many people will rush here to insult me. But before commenting, take a minute to put yourself in Sade Adu’s shoes. You have spent 40 years promoting Nigeria. Insisting to the British media that you are Nigerian when they proudly claimed you for Britain. Then today, you read that someone else is the first Nigerian female to win a Grammy. How would you feel? If after you have put yourself in Sade Adu’s shoes you still feel the need to insult me, then please go ahead.
