Peter Obi denies audio with Oyedepo, says under pressure to leave Nigeria

In the leaked audio, the ex-governor of Anambra had allegedly colluded with the founder of Living Faith Church for the support of Christians while stating that the election was a religious war. Addressing the allegations, Peter Obi affirmed that the audio was fake and a distraction from the APC-led government. In a statement via Twitter, he insisted on following through peacefully and legally until his stolen mandate is returned. Peter Obi on Alleged Audio With Bishop Oyedepo “I continue to thank all Nigerians, especially the youths and the Obidients, as they have remained focused on the core mission of a New Nigeria that is POssible even after the February 25, 2023 presidential election. Before, during, and after the campaign, it is on record that I have maintained my commitment and focus on issue-based campaign about a New Nigeria that is POssible, a shift of emphasis from consumption to production, a New Nigeria characterized by inclusion, justice, equity, fairness, and prosperity.
I repeatedly stated that no one should vote for me based on Tribe or Religion, but rather on the assessment of Character, Competence, Capacity, Credibility, and Compassion that can be trusted to create a New Nigeria! The present attempts by the APC as a Party, and the APC Led-government through some government officials and agencies to divert our attention from our blatantly stolen mandate is unfortunate and sad. These have come and continued to manifest in different ways, such as the malicious accusation of the Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed, the circulation of a fake doctored audio call, and a pressure on me to leave the country. Let me reiterate that the audio call being circulated is fake, and at no time throughout the campaign and now did I ever say, think, or even imply that the 2023 election is, or was a religious war. The attempts to manipulate Nigerians is very sad and wicked. Our legal team have been instructed to take appropriate legal actions against Peoples Gazette and others. While we call on all concerned Nigerians and the International Community to implore the APC and the APC Led-government to stop their nasty attacks, my focus and commitment to lawfully and peacefully retrieve our mandate to secure and unite our Nation, take Nigeria from consumption to production, pull millions of Nigerians out of multidimensional poverty especially in the North, and jumpstart prosperity through agricultural, industrial, and technological revolution remain unchanged. Elections are over, and we are in court to retrieve our stolen mandate. Let me reiterate that we are doing so through all lawful and peaceful options in line with our legal system and constitution, and I continue to implore all Nigerians to remain peaceful and law abiding. Those fixated with heating up the polity, creating divisions, tensions and hatred within and outside Nigeria should remember that Nigeria is our only country. Our focus should be on how to address the litany of challenges facing us, such as: flawed electoral processes, the parlous state of our economy, unsustainable debt burden, lamentable unemployment and inflation, insecurity, and multi-dimensional poverty. A New Nigeria is indeed POssible, and God will help us. -PO”

Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo addresses the alleged leaked audio with Peter Obi stating that he has never campaigned for or endorsed any political party in Nigeria.

This comes following the viral audio recording allegedly between the preacher and the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi. During his sermon at the headquarter of the church, David Oyedepo revealed that during the recent general elections, he provided prayer and counsel to all political parties, but never solicited votes as claimed in the voice recording. “I don’t speak what people want to hear, I speak what God tells me to say. That is why some people are very angry with me. Nobody has ever told me what to say in this world. No. “I have never campaigned for anybody or speak on anybody’s behalf and I will not do that till I go to heaven, Amen. There is no party in this country that didn’t come to me for prayers and for advice. “I advised them, some they don’t take. Those who chose to take it, they see results. Those who said no, they are going about it (laughs). “If you still come again, I will still tell you, it doesn’t change,” he stated.

"Endless forgeries from APC" — Obi's campaign team denies leaked audio with Oyedepo

The Presidential Campaign Council of Obi-Datti has denied the authenticity of a leaked audio recording between their Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel).

The leaked audio, which surfaced on the night of April 1, 2023, purportedly features Obi and Oyedepo discussing ways to mobilize Christian voters in the South-West and areas of the North-Central states such as Kwara, Kogi, and Niger. Diran Onifade, who serves as the Head of Media and Communications for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, characterized the leaked audio conversation as a typical example of the numerous falsifications that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is infamous for. Obi’s Campaign Team on Leaked Audio with Oyedepo “It appears the All Progressives Congress’ desperation to grab and retain power by foul means has refused to go away more than a month after they have grabbed the election as they planned. “While we are toeing the constitutional path to retrieve our mandate, those who have truncated the wishes of the majority of Nigerians have recoursed to mischief and endless subterfuge to continue to hold on to what they know does not belong to them. “From the show of shame in Port Harcourt to the drama in the Ibom Air aircraft, both of which they contrived, they have now moved to the circulation of a deep fake audio file aimed at promoting religious tension in the country. “All these are meant to serve no other purpose than egregious mischief aimed at demarketing Peter Obi. If the goal is to create a credibility problem, the ploy has failed woefully. “Peter Obi has long been on record as the only presidential candidate who has urged the Nigerians electorate not to vote for him on the basis of religion or tribe. “We will therefore like to advice our beloved Nigerian people to remain focused on the task to take back the mandate we know was freely given to Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed through legitimate means. “That is more important than to expect those who ran election on forged credentials and even fake Bishops to stop faking. They cannot stop being fraudulent because that is who they are.”

Following a viral audio allegedly between the Labour Party presidential candidate and the founder of Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel), Kenneth has clarified the claim of instigating a religious war. Kenneth Okonkwo addresses leaked audio allegedly between Peter Obi, Bishop Oyedepo

“Our attention has been drawn to the publication of this audio tape of private conversation between @PeterObi and Bishop Oyedepo. It is not surprising that these political criminals are trying to spin the conversation as if Obi was making a religious statement. Firstly, the context of the conversation was aptly put by Bishop Oyedepo when he said “All Nigerians have equal stake in this nation, nobody has the right to claim that he is dashing something to someone”. H E @PeterObi was simply urging the Bishop to help him push this message of equal stake of all Nigerians in the Nigerian project to his people and the christiandom because the politicians of the other party is carrying on this campaign as if it is a religious war. To drive home this point, he informed him that he visited the traditional ruler of Offa, the Olofa of Offa, who is a Muslim, but who advised Obi to get the support of Oyedepo and be assured of his own support. No Politician has ever visited the Olofa of Offa,” he stated. Kenneth Okonkwo insisted that spinning the narration to mean Christian-Muslim competition is intentionally instigated by the opposition party, APC to stir a religious issue. He continued, “It is clear to everybody that the APC political party that has a Presidential Candidate, Vice Presidential Candidate, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, National Chairman of the Party all from one religion at a time the CJN is a Muslim is the Party that has declared religious war on Nigerians and we must all rise up together to fight this unconstitutional act of religious intolerance of other religions by APC. I went around with Obi on campaign train and never saw him discriminate against any religion. Of course he can’t because his Vice is a Muslim unlike APC. I resigned from APC because of their religious intolerance. Nigerians should disregard any insinuation of religious bigots about this tape.”

The clergy man stated that this has been possible without the help of the state or federal government.
In his words:
“Light has never gone off in Canaanland since 1999. We have zero input from any government in Nigeria whether local, state or federal. Not that we collect offering every Sunday to achieve this. We invested resources and have good and very committed people that manage it.
“We teach the world that you can make your marks by depending on God.”
“They don’t use mouth to get power. You invest resources to sustain power. Have we ever raised an offering for power here? Never!”

Bishop Oyedepo allegedly witholds NYSC call-up letters of 200 varsity students for missing farewell prayer session

Bishop Oyedepo allegedly witholds NYSC call-up letters of 200 varsity students for missing farewell prayer session

Parents of some graduates from the Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, where Dr. David Oyedepo is the Chancellor have alleged that the institution’s management is withholding the National Youth Service Corps scheme call-up letters of their children.

According to them, the management’s action is following their children’s absence in a prayer session held to bid them farewell from the institution.
According to one of the parents, the students were absent when Dr. David Oyedepo came to pray for them.
“Sir, this issue may not be your business, but, I feel as an affairs analyst, you can add your voice to 200 families who are in pain,” a text message allegedly from one of the parents read.
“Our wards graduated from Landmark University, Omu-Aran, owned by Bishop Oyedepo. About 200 graduands were absent when Bishop David Oyedepo came to pray over them and he then instructed that their NYSC call-up letters be withheld.

“Delegates and letters of appeal have been sent with no response until yesterday, when I heard that call-up letters will be released in August 2022.
“It means our children will stay at home with us after graduation till August. This is rather draconian and height of impunity,” another parent said.
Meanwhile, further reports say when contacted, spokesman for Landmark University, Joseph Olajide said that the affected students are faceless and that the parents ought to bring their grievances to the school not the media.
