Young lady narrates an encounter with a phone thief in the Iwo Road area of Ibadan who pickpocketed her device and tried to make a run for it. A Twitter user identified as @OsamudiamenOO took to the platform to narrate how she went to a wedding event and almost lost her phone to a thief.

How I almost lost my phone to a thief in Ibadan “Tell me why I went for a wedding in Ibadan today and ended up doing 100m sprint on Iwo road because this guy pickpocketed my phone and tried to run away in a cab. We were all walking from the church to the reception venue on a narrow road when I perceived terrible body odor. I smelt him before I saw him, I had to look back to see who the smelly person was. Then I made way for him to move forward, but he motioned to me to walk ahead, acting all gentlemanly.

I instantly knew it was him, I looked around and I saw him already walking far ahead in the opposite direction of the venue. I told my colleagues that my phone was gone and I started to jog towards him, I didn’t call out to him cos I didn’t want him to notice me and start to run. Next thing I saw him enter a cab and the cab started moving. That was when I started running and shouting “stop the cab! Ole ole!” People didn’t hear me at first, Then someone saw me running and shouting and quickly stopped the cab. I got to the cab and asked him for my phone, the idiot said “it fell on the floor and he picked it” he even had the audacity to ask if it was my phone. The people around dragged him from the cab and started slapping him. I shouted at him and cursed him but I didn’t want anyone to beat. I left him shortly after and walked back to where my colleagues were, it was while I was walking back that I realized that one of my colleagues had followed me while I was running towards the thief. I must have been a sight to behold: Me running in a black jumpsuit, face full of makeup, looking all fine and running like a mad women screaming “stop the cab! Ole ole!” I think the bravery came from thought of all my bank info on the phone.

A 13-year-old young boy has reportedly committed suicide after being accused of stealing a mobile phone in Cameroon. According to a reporter in Cameroon, identified as Tata Benard Gibip, the boy was caught earlier attempting to stab himself over the false accusation but was stopped and cautioned. However, in the late hours of yesterday, Sunday morning, May 7, 2023, the young boy reportedly left home and hanged himself on a tree. “His lifeless body was discovered hanging from a tree after his absence was noticed. “Considering his tender age, many are wondering whether the allegation could actually push him to take away his life. However, answers unfortunately cannot be gotten as the concern is no”, the report said.

A man, identified as Abubakar Saeed, got his hand cut off by thieves who came and stole his phone while he was sitting outside his house. According to the Twitter user, who shared the news on the platform, Abubakar was just sitting outside his house in Kaduna when the unfortunate incident happened.

From the picture shared, Saeed sees to be receiving treatment in a hospital. The poster has also asked that he be put in prayers.
