The mother of two who made quite an appearance during her participation in the most recent edition of the BBNaija show took to social media to hustle for gigs.

Venita in a post via the microblogging platform, X urged her followers and business partners to consider booking her for the few days she would be available for the year. “I have 28th,29th,30th open for bookings . Please book me o. You won’t regret it. I will always give my best. 🙏🏽,” she wrote.

The post however generated tons of reactions as many questioned the line of work of the reality star. The embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, appeals to Nigerians for their prayers as she faces charges of corruption, involving multi-million pounds, in the UK. Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a 60-year-old former gang leader who was involved in the murder of Tupac pleaded not guilty in a US court on Thursday. Davis was charged in September 2023, following a disagreement with 2Pac in a casino, with the police alleging he planned the shooting with his late nephew, Orlando Anderson. Confusion in court as complainant breaks down in tears, pleads on behalf of defendant

In a heart-rending scene at the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, James Bassey, the complainant in a theft case, broke down in tears as he pleaded for leniency on behalf of the defendant, Puis Savoir. The drycleaner had been sentenced to one month in prison for stealing a pressing iron and N20,000. The presiding Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, delivered the conviction after Savoir pleaded guilty and the facts of the case were presented by the prosecutor, Ikem Uko. The incident occurred on July 6 at around 7:00 p.m. at Yeponnawa Street, Church-Gate, Lagos. According to the prosecution, Savoir was accused of stealing a pressing iron and N20,000 from James Bassey, the complainant. The act was in violation of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015. Acknowledging that Savoir was a first-time offender, Chief Magistrate Adekomaiya expressed the court’s intention to show leniency. Consequently, the defendant received a sentence of one month imprisonment, with the first seven days to be served in prison and the remaining three weeks at Morogbo Police Station. During this period, Savoir would report to the police station daily for community service. However, immediately following the sentencing, James Bassey, overwhelmed with emotion, burst into tears and implored the court to pardon the convicted drycleaner. My Lord, I don’t have a wife or children; it is this convict that always takes care of me. He used to help me do all my domestic work and massage me, but the habit of stealing my things is too much, that is why I reported him when he stole my money and pressing iron. If you sentence him to prison now, nobody will be assisting me, and this could lead to my death,” he said.

Tinubu pleads with Nigerians to make sacrifices for country’s progress

President Bola Tinubu charged Nigerians to commit to making sacrifices for the progress and stability of the country. Mr Femi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the wellbeing of the country. “We must sacrifice for the nation because praying and loving is part of our duty as citizens because it is what will make the nation great,” he said. Gbajabiamila, in his speech, said that the president would continue to give hope to Nigerians by continuing to implement people-oriented policies. He said that the president would need the prayers of Nigerians to continue the various initiatives towards turning the country into the dream of our founding fathers. “As the president returns Abuja, he will need your prayers and as he moves to all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria, he will also need your prayers. “The weight of the task is daunting but with the prayers and support of all Nigerians, the president will surely surmount them,” he said.

Notable political activist, Reno Omokri pleads for the release of the renowned singer, Seun Kuti over claims of having PTSD — Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It would be recalled that Seun Kuti turned himself over to the police following an arrested warrant placed on him after assaulting an officer.

He has since been in police custody even though a magistrate court in Lagos granted him bail hours after his arrest. In a post via Twitter, Reno Omokri condemned Seun’s act, however, justifying it with PTSD due to childhood of the singer.

Omokri on PSTD claims “What Seun did was wrong. And I condemn it. But Seun has a history with the police and the military that has scarred him for life. They beat his Septuagenarian grandmother and threw her from the first floor to the ground. She died from the injuries sustained. His father carried her coffin to Dodan barracks in tears! Till today, NOBODY was punished for the crime against Olufunmilayo Kuti. They beat his father to an inch of his life. Multiple times. They burnt down their residence, with multiple vets and other property. They were never paid compensation. The police raided the shrine episodically, right from when Seun was a baby to his adulthood. And even in this incident involving the slap, there was provocation from the policeman. I am not saying that the provocation justified the slap. My motive is just to put things in context. What he did was condemnable. It is unacceptable. But when you look at his personal history, there are mitigating circumstances. And I beg the Inspector General of Police to take Seun’s Post Traumatic Stress Disorder into account. Because even Buhari’s wife, Aisha, admitted that her husband also suffers from PTSD due to his experience with the Nigerian state apparatus. Suspected internet fraudster, Olalekan Jacob Ponle, popularly known as Mr Woodberry, has reached a plea deal with the United States government, in which he agreed to surrender $8 million he gained from wire fraud, and his luxury cars and watches.

Woodberry was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud after being arrested in the United Arab Emirates in 2020 and extradited to the US. Prosecutors alleged that he deceived American companies into transferring millions of dollars through a business email compromise scheme. Ponle had initially pleaded not guilty to eight charges. However, he had a change of heart and submitted a guilty plea to the first count of the indictments, according to a plea declaration filed in the US District Court. The plea deal mandates him to repay the $8 million to the seven companies he defrauded.

“Defendant understands that by pleading guilty, he will subject to forfeiture to the United States all right, title, and interest that he has in any property constituting or derived from proceeds obtained, directly or indirectly, as a result of the offence,” read the document containing Ponle’s signed plea declaration. In addition, the court instructed Mr. Woodberry to renounce his ownership of the lavish cars and pricey wristwatches he purchased and stored in Dubai, UAE. The collection of luxurious vehicles set to be forfeited comprises a Rolls Royce Cullinan with a vehicle identification number of J9153, a Lamborghini Urus with plate number N4973, and a Mercedes-Benz G-class with registration number G68816. Furthermore, the authorities confiscated four Rolex watches, three Audemars Piguet watches, and one Patek Philippe watch from him. Also included among the seized items are three gold and diamond-studded earrings, as well as six gold neck chains.

Portable pleads not guilty, granted bail

Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola widely known as Portable, has been granted bail after appearing before an Ogun State Magistrate’s Court in Ifo.

The artist had been held at the police detention since Friday, after ignoring multiple summons and also resisting arrest. During his court appearance on Monday, Portable entered a plea of not guilty to all the charges levied against him.

The charges reads in part, “That you Badmus Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, and others now at large on the 28″ day of March 2023 at 11:00hrs at Odogwu Bar, Oke-Osa, Ilogbo, Ifo in the Ifo Magisterial District, did willfully cause or inflict physical injury on one Inspector Hammed Moshood ‘m’ with your elbow on his nose, which caused blood to gush out from his nose and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 4 (1) of the Violence against persons & Prohibition Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2017. “That you Badmus Habeeb Okikiola, M. aka Portable, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did resist to be arrested by Inspector Hammed Moshood ‘m’, ASP Gregory Iyoha ‘m’, ASP Kunle Badmus ‘m’ after serving you with Police Invitation Letter on the 20 day of January, 2023 for the offences you committed when they were about to discharge their duty with warrant of arrest on you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 197 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.” He was, however, granted bail by the court.
