INEC begins upload of result on IREV portal
The process of transferring the results of the gubernatorial election to the Election Result Viewing Portal (IReV) has been initiated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as per the latest updates. It would be recalled in a statement that INEC assured that challenges faced during the February 25th election will not repeat themselves while emphasizing its preparedness for the gubernatorial elections. As of the time of this report, the results of the 2023 gubernatorial elections have been successfully uploaded onto the platform from eight polling units in Zamfara State, 46 polling units in Rivers State, and 40 polling units in Lagos State.
INEC uploads 90% results on IReV portal, one week after election
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is still in the process of uploading the polling unit results on its IREV portal a week following the presidential election.
According to The Punch, as of the 4th of March, 159,509 out of 176,846 polling units have been successfully uploaded, representing 90% of results across the country. Although the electronic transmission is still ongoing, INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, had declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the winner of the election on March 1, 2023, despite objections by the main opposition parties. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party alleged that the commission did not follow its guidelines, which require results to be uploaded on the IReV portal before they are announced at the collation centre.
