Harry Kane has scripted new Premier League records with his brace against Leeds today, May 28. The Tottenham captain equalled an impressive Premier League record set by Andy Cole with his goals for Tottenham against Leeds. Kane’s second-minute goal handed Spurs the lead before Pedro Porro’s goal in the second half confirmed Leeds’s relegation to the Championship. Jack Harrison pulled one back before Kane got his second. Lucas Moura added Spurs’ fourth.

He steered clear of Andy Cole and Les Ferdinand, who both have 9 goals each on the final day of a Premier League season. Kane has also scored in 26 different Premier League games this season. It is the joint-most games any player has scored in within a single campaign in the competition. He is now level with Manchester United legend Cole, who set the record while playing for Newcastle in 1993-94. Kane’s brace against Leeds took him to 30 goals in the Premier League for the season. He is now the first player to hit 30 goals or more in two separate top-flight campaigns, having also achieved the feat in 2017-18.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new striker and have reportedly listed Kane as their favoured candidate heading into the summer window. Making his 320th Premier League appearance today, May 28, Kane has raced to 213 goals. He also has 46 assists. In the 2022-23 season, Kane finished as the second-highest scorer in the league with 30 goals. Only, Erling Haaland (36) managed to score more.

Source: Getty Leeds on the other hand started the day tied on points with Leicester and also in need of a victory, but their fate was sealed very early in their match against Tottenham as Harry Kane gave Spurs a second-minute lead and the North London side never looked back en route to a 4-1 victory at Elland Road. Leicester and Leeds join Southampton in the drop to the EFL championship. Southampton finished last in the Premier League and were relegated weeks ago. 
Manchester City kicked off their Premier League title celebrations with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at the Etihad. Recall that Pep Guardiola’s men clinched a fifth title in six seasons on Saturday, May 20, when second-placed Arsenal were defeated 1-0 by Nottingham Forest. 
Following the title win, Guardiola made nine changes from the side that battered Real Madrid on Wednesday, May 17. Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, John Stones, Jack Grealish, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, and goalkeeper Ederson were all benched. Erling Haaland was rested but Julian Alvarez provided the cutting edge in his absence with a clinical finish to put City ahead after 12 minutes. Kalvin Phillips who made his first Premier League start for City since joining in a £55m deal from Leeds United last summer, came close to doubling City’s lead on the hour mark but he was denied by the post after meeting Riyad Mahrez’s free-kick. 
Alvarez thought he had his brace in the 73rd minute but the goal was disallowed after Mahrez was adjudged to have used a hand in the build-up. The defeat means Chelsea will end a miserable campaign in the bottom half and a familiar lack of cutting edge in front of goal showed why the Blues have struggled under three different managers this season. With finals against Manchester United and Inter Milan to come in the FA Cup and Champions League respectively, City have to keep their focus if they’re to pull off a historic treble. Manchester City have won the Premier League title for a fifth time in six seasons after Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, May 20. A first-half strike from Super Eagles star, Taiwo Awoniyi was enough to secure the win at the City Ground, and it also helped Nottingham Forest survive relegation from the Premier League.

City are now two victories away from completing a Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble, a feat only achieved once in English football by Manchester United in 1998/99. 
Southampton were relegated from the Premier League after losing 2-0 to Fulham on Saturday afternoon. They needed a win to have any chance of beating the drop but second-half goals from Carlos Vinicius and Aleksandar Mitrovic in his first outing since serving an eight-game ban, crushed their hope. 
The visitors took the lead in the 48th minute when Vinicius tapped home unmarked after Harrison Reed’s sliding challenge on Lyanco diverted the ball across goal. Mitrovic was a second-half substitute for Fulham on his return from an eight-game ban and just six minutes after his introduction, the Serbia striker rose to meet Harry Wilson’s cross to compound Southampton’s despair. This brings an end to Southampton’s 11 years in the Premier League. They included four successive top-eight finishes days under Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman. They had a widely admired setup and churned out talent for a carrion elite to feed off. 
When Southampton were last relegated from the Premier League in 2004/05, it took them seven years to win promotion back to the top flight. Championship football for the first time since 2012 looked a foregone conclusion after failure to beat Nottingham Forest last weekend. Fulham’s seventh away win of the Premier League season moves them up to ninth in the table and on track for a first top-half finish since 2012. 
Manchester City are back to top of the Premier League table after grabbing a 2-1 win over Fulham today, April 30. Haaland converted a penalty in the third minute, but Carlos Vinicius pulled Fulham level after 15 minutes with a fine finish. 
Man City restored the lead in the 35th minute after Julian Alvarez unleashed a stunning effort from distance which looped over Leno and into the top corner. Haaland who bagged his 34th goal during the match, is now level with Andy Cole and Alan Shearer for most goals in a single Premier League season. Cole and Shearer scored their 34 in 42-game seasons, and Haaland already owns the 38-game record after passing Mohamed Salah’s 2017-18 campaign. The Norwegian has scored 50 goals in all competitions this season. 
Fulham remains in 10th place with 45 points, but lost Tim Ream and Andreas Pereira to injuries during the match. Man City are now on top of the table with 76 points to Arsenal’s 75 and also have one extra game to play. 
Burnley were on Tuesday, April 25, crowned winners of the Championship title following a 1-0 derby-day victory over Blackburn Rovers. The Vincent Kompany-led team clinched an immediate return to the Premier League earlier this month by beating Middlesbrough, and they have now also sealed the top spot in the division. 
Burnley entered the game on Tuesday, nine points clear of second-placed Sheffield United, and they needed a win as the Blades still have four games left. Manuel Benson’s superb second-half strike during the match broke the deadlock for the Clarets in a feisty match that had a high tempo but saw both sides limited in clear-cut chances in front of goal. 
Tempers flared after the full-time whistle between some players and both benches, but things calmed down quickly so Burnley could celebrate in front of their 2,000 fans. Plymouth and Ipswich are both one win away from securing promotion to the Championship after victories on Tuesday. 
Aston Villa snatched a draw in the match following a late equaliser scored by Douglas Luiz in the 87th minute. Villa has now scored in all of the 19 games they have played under Emery, breaking the record for the longest consecutive scoring run any team has had from the start of a manager’s tenure in Premier League history. 
Emery has helped revitalize the club’s form, bringing them out of the relegation zone and giving them a place in Europa next season. Aston Villa will be hosting Fulham in their next Premier League match on April 25. 
Saka was among a six-man shortlist for the award alongside Alexander Isak, Alexis Mac Allister, Tyrone Mings, Mohamed Salah, and Arsenal teammate Leandro Trossard. This is the first time Saka will be winning the award. He moved into double figures for both goals and assists in March, netting his tenth goal of the campaign in a 4-0 win over Everton to kick off the month, a game in which he also bagged an assist. 
It is the second time this season the prize has been handed to an Arsenal player, with captain Martin Odegaard receiving the November/December award. 
The club which has been referred to an independent commission is said to have recorded losses of £371.8m ($388.3m) over the past three years. According to Premier League rules, clubs are allowed to lose a maximum of £105m ($128.3m) over that time. The Premier League executives were made aware of Everton’s situation following a joint letter written by Leeds chief executive, Angus Kinnear, and Burnley chairman, Alan Pace. At the time of their joint letter, both clubs were threatened with relegation and both also indicated their right to make legal claims against the Premier League and Everton. Confirming the charges, the Premier League said in a statement; “In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred an alleged breach of the League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules by Everton Football Club to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4. The assessment period for which it is alleged that the Club is in breach is the period ending Season 2021/22. 
“The proceedings before the Commission will, in accordance with Premier League Rule W.82, be confidential and heard in private. Under Premier League Rule W.82.2, the Commission’s final award will be published on the Premier League’s website. The League will be making no further comment until that time.” Reacting to the development, Everton said they are disappointed with the decision, adding that they are “prepared to robustly defend” their position to the commission. The club said in a statement; “Everton Football Club is disappointed to hear of the Premier League’s decision to refer an allegation of a breach of Profit & Sustainability regulations to an independent commission for review. “The club strongly contests the allegation of non-compliance and together with its independent team of experts is entirely confident that it remains compliant with all financial rules and regulations. Everton is prepared to robustly defend its position to the commission. The club has, over several years, provided information to the Premier League in an open and transparent manner and has consciously chosen to act with the utmost good faith at all times.”
