Arsenal and PSV played out a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night’s Champions League clash, to mark the conclusion of the group stage. Going into the game, both teams had nothing to lose, having already secured their spots in the last 16. The Dutch league leaders, PSV, dominated the chances in the first half, putting consistent pressure on Arsenal. However, it was the Gunners who struck first, as Eddie Nketiah found the back of the net in the 42nd minute.
Arsenal played 1-1 with PSG PSV responded almost immediately after the break, with Yorbe Vertessen leveling the score just five minutes into the second half. Despite the equalizer, PSV continued to create better chances in the later stages of the match, but failed to convert any. Highlight of the match came in the last ten minutes when Jakub Kiwior thought he had secured a late winner, but the goal was disallowed. The decision was based on Gabriel being deemed offside and interfering with play from Martin Odegaard’s free-kick.

Simons came up with a remarkable 22 goals and 12 assists from 48 games in a PSV jersey, helping the Eindhoven giants win the KNVB Beker and Dutch Super Cup. Nineteen of Simons’ strikes came from 34 Eredivisie matches, and he ended the season as the league’s second-highest scorer behind 20-goal FC Utrecht attacker Anastasios Douvikas. PSG inserted a buyback clause in their deal with PSV for Xavi Simons, set at a modest €6m (£5.2m), and have now activated it. PSV said in a statement; “Xavi Simons has departed from the PSV training camp in Austria to complete a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.” 
It was reported earlier that the 20-year-old supporter invaded the pitch late in the game and punched the goalkeeper in the face. Dmitrovic who wasn’t injured from the punch, wrestled the pitch invader to the ground afterward before stewards ejected him. PSV won the second leg of the Europa League knockout play-off tie 2-0, but Sevilla progressed to the last-16 of the tournament on a 3-2 aggregate. 
After the pitch invader was arrested, it was discovered that he had already been banned by the Dutch Football Association (KNVB). He accessed the Phillips Stadium on the night of the incident with a ticket bought by a friend. He has now been jailed for three months, one month of which is ‘conditional’. 
Trailing 3-0 from the Europa League knockout round play-off first leg, PSV scored two late goals through Luuk de Jong and Fabio Silva. But Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side could not find a crucial third goal as the match finished 3-2 on aggregate in favour of Sevilla. The supporter ran on the pitch in the closing stages of the play-off tie and appeared to punch the Serbian keeper. 
The pitch invader was eventually led away by stewards after the incident in the closing stages of the match. Commenting on being attacked after the match was concluded, Dmitrovic said; “He came and pushed me from behind. He was probably angry about the result and a bit crazy already. He tried to hit me and I managed to grab him and wait for him to security will arrive. It’s never nice to see this in football, it shouldn’t happen and from now on I hope these things are well punished. 
“I have never seen anything like it. I’ll keep my mouth shut so I don’t say what I would really like to do in that moment. “He wanted to hurt me, it’s a shame that something like this happens in football field. UEFA must intervene.” 
Chelsea has reportedly reached an agreement to sign British-Nigerian winger, Noni Madueke from PSV this January. 
The 20-year-old England youth international is now set to arrive at Stamford Bridge for his medical after a £29m deal was reached with his club. There are still final details to sort out in the deal but the player is preparing to travel to England. Chelsea opened talks for the signing of the 20-year-old last week, but PSV were adamant they were not going to sell Madueke. However, there’s been a breakthrough in talks to get the former Tottenham youngster’s signature. The Blues have already completed deals for David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix, and Mykhailo Mudryk this month. 
Madueke has established himself at the senior level and as one of Europe’s most promising young wide players since leaving Tottenham aged 16 to join PSV in 2018. The winger was born in Barnet and spent time in the youth ranks at Crystal Palace and Tottenham before moving to the Netherlands, where he came up through the academy at PSV.
