Reason why report on Mohbad’s death probe delayed– Police

The Lagos State Police Command has replied to complaints about the delayed report of the investigation results of the late Mohbad. In a press conference on Thursday, the pro-democracy group Take-It-Back Movement (TIB) demanded that the Lagos State Police Command release the late singer’s autopsy report, expressing dissatisfaction with the police’s prolonged silence as unfair to the public. The organization encouraged police to investigate cyberbullying directed at Wunmi, Mohbad’s wife, and Liam, the murdered child. They stressed that anyone caught in the act would face serious ramifications. When approached by the PUNCH correspondent on Thursday, police spokesman Hundeyin stated that the command had not received the pathologists’ report on Mohbad’s autopsy.

Admission seeker extorted by Police receives refund following viral report

Sodiq Oladebo, an admission seeker who was extorted by officers attached to the Osun State Police Command, has been refunded the N20,000 that was unlawfully taken from him. The incident, which occurred while Oladebo was traveling from Osun to Benin, Edo State, was brought to light by the victim himself, prompting swift action from the authorities. Following NigezieXtreme initial report on the extortion incident, Oladebo’s brother, Suleman, confirmed to The Punch that the full amount extorted had been returned. “They have refunded it just now. My brother just called me. I commend the Nigeria Police, especially the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and the Osun State Command’s PRO for their efforts,” Suleman revealed. The Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, had previously urged Oladebo to reach out, assuring him that she had been actively working on the matter since becoming aware of it. In a tweet, Opalola stated her commitment to resolving the issue, urging the victim to contact her. She tweeted; “Since I heard about the extortion of the admission seeker by some policemen in Osun State, I have been working seriously on the matter and of course, I have made success. I want that victim to please call or chat with me.” Recounting the incident, Oladebo explained that while traveling along the Ilesa Expressway, their vehicle was stopped at a checkpoint by police officers. After searching their bags and finding nothing incriminating, the officers intimidated Oladebo and demanded a sum of N100,000 from him, threatening to take him to the police station if he failed to comply. Having only N99,000 in his Palm Pay application, which was intended to be used for purchasing an Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) form for university admission, Oladebo eventually transferred N20,000 to a Point-of-Sale operator, as demanded by the officers. With the refund of the extorted amount, Oladebo’s ordeal has reached a satisfactory conclusion.

"European Union lied in its report on 2023 elections" ― FG Tinubu

The Federal Government has rejected the European Union Elections Observation Mission (EU-EOM) report on the 2023 general elections in the country. The government described it as a reflection of a plan to discredit the election, especially the presidential election won by President Bola Tinubu.

"European Union lied in its report on 2023 elections" ― FG Tinubu

Mr Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, on Sunday in Abuja. “Sometimes in May, we alerted the nation, through a press statement, to the plan by a continental multi-lateral institution to discredit the 2023 general elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission. “The main target was the presidential election, clearly and fairly won by the then-candidate of All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “While we did not mention the name of the organisation in the said statement, we made it abundantly clear to Nigerians how this foreign institution had been unrelenting in its assault on the credibility of the electoral process, the sovereignty of our country and on our ability as a people to organise ourselves. “We find it preposterous and unconscionable that in this day and age, any foreign organisation of whatever hue can continue to insist on its own yardstick and assessment as the only way to determine the credibility and transparency of our elections,” he stated. Alake said that the submission of the organisation’s report has shown that it was the machinations of the European Union to sustain its unfounded bias and claims on the election outcomes. He asserted that the 2023 general elections, especially the presidential election won by Tinubu, were credible, free, fair and the best-organised general elections in Nigeria since 1999. “There is no substantial evidence provided by the European Union or any foreign and local organisation that is viable enough to impeach the integrity of the 2023 election outcomes. “It is worth restating that the limitation of EU final assessment and conclusions on our elections was made very bare in the text of the press conference addressed by the Head of its Electoral Observation Mission, Barry Andrews. “While addressing journalists in Abuja on the so-called final report, Andrews noted that EU-EOM monitored the pre-election and post-election processes in Nigeria from January 11 to April 11, 2023, as an INEC accredited election monitoring group. “Within this period, EU-EOM observed the elections through 11 Abuja-based analysts, and 40 election observers spread across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory,” according to him. He stressed that: “With the level of the personnel deployed, which was barely an average of one person per state, we wonder how EU-EOM independently monitored elections in over 176,000 polling units across Nigeria. “We would like to know and even ask EU, how it reached the conclusions in the submitted final report with the very limited coverage of the elections by their observers who, without doubt, relied more on rumours, hearsay, cocktails of prejudiced and uninformed social media commentaries and opposition talking heads. “We are convinced that what EU-EOM called final report on our recent elections is a product of a poorly done desk job that relied heavily on few instances of skirmishes in less than 1000 polling units out of over 176,000 where Nigerians voted on election day.” Alake said that the report was to merely sustain the same premature denunciation stance contained in EU’s preliminary report released in March. “We strongly reject, in its entirety, any notion and idea from any organisation, group and individual remotely suggesting that the 2023 election was fraudulent. “Our earlier position that the technology-aided 2023 general elections were the most transparent and best organised elections since the return of civil rule in Nigeria has been validated by all non-partisan foreign and local observers such are the African Union, ECOWAS, Commonwealth Observer Mission and the Nigerian Bar Association. “Unlike EU-EOM that deployed fewer than 50 observers, the Nigerian Bar Association that sent out over 1000 observers spread across the entire country for same election gave a more holistic and accurate assessment of the elections in their own report. “NBA, an organisation of eminent lawyers and an important voice within the civic space, reported that 91.8 per cent of Nigerians rated the conduct of the national and state elections as credible and satisfactory. Any election that over 90% of the citizens considered transparent should be celebrated anywhere in the world,” Alake added. He noted that the INEC, through its National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Mr Festus Okoye, had come out to defend the integrity of the election it conducted by rejecting the false narratives in the EU report. “It is also gratifying that the electoral umpire, as an institution that is open to learning and continuous improvements, has also committed to taking on board more ideas, innovation and reforms that will further enhance the integrity and credibility of our electoral process. “As a country, we have put the elections behind us. President Tinubu is facing the arduous task of nation-building, while those who have reasons to challenge the process continue to do so through the courts. “In just one month in office, Nigerians appear satisfied with the decisive leadership of President Tinubu and the manner he is redirecting the country to the path of fiscal sustainability and socio-economic reforms. “We urge the EU and other foreign interests to be objective in all their assessments of the internal affairs of our country and allow Nigeria to breathe,” the statement read in part.

when them dey fok, them no fear ooo smh” @sharafa_basit said: “He’s not refusing to take responsibility for the pregnancy, he’s only trying not to be a victim.” @thefolabii commented: “There’s nothing wrong with requesting to do DNA, you were not in the relationship with them. He probably noticed her infidelity in the 5 years of being together with your landlord’s daughter.
Women should stop having problems with DNA if there’s no skeleton in their cupboard” @ccc_4our stated: “If he says he wants a DNA test, then let him get a DNA test. He might not be the father.” @shingha said: “Maybe he just wants to make sure the baby is actually his before committing to a lifetime of responsibility. He clarified that he is not under the EFCC’s custody and will appear in court on July 3, 2023. Mompha’s statement on alleged re-arrest “IDAN WAS NOT REARRESTED BY EFCC; 33BG IS NOT IN EFCC CUSTODY Contrary to the recent publication in most media platforms in Nigeria that I, Mompha was rearrested by the EFCC. I want to use this medium to expose the corrupt and mischievous commission again that I was neither rearrested nor am I in the custody of the EFCC. This assertion by the EFCC is laughable because I am currently not in Nigeria more or less rearrested either in Nigeria. I hereby urge the commission to desist from this insensible media trial and stop misleading people through the press/media that I am in your custody and would produce me before the Court on the 3rd of July. It has now become very clear that the only motive of the EFCC is to witch-hunt me and use my name MOMPHA to trend anytime they are looking for cheap media relevance. One would think Mompha would be the least of their worries during this period of change in government, and occupy themselves with task of going after the corrupt politicians who are impoverishing the ordinary Nigerians. I want to thank my teeming fans and well wishers, who are concerned about my wellbeing and safety and I want to assure you all that I and my family are fine and currently enjoying ourselves in Dubai, away from the intimidation and harassment of the EFCC and the corrupt Nigeria judicial system.” Watch the video below …
