The incident unfolded as the president’s convoy passed through Idumota market in Lagos Island. The video showcases a notable lack of enthusiasm from the crowd as the president’s convoy navigated through the populated market. Instead of the expected cheers and waves, traders and bystanders could be heard expressing their grievances in Yoruba, with chants of “Ebi npa wa oo,” meaning “we are hungry.”

The residents, lining both sides of the road, took the opportunity to voice their concerns about the economic challenges they are facing. The discontent was palpable as onlookers refused to shower the president with traditional cheers, opting instead to draw attention to their struggles and hardships. Less than 100 people were at the location, according to a fan in attendance—a dramatic contrast to the thousands of people who were anticipated. Davido was so shocked by the low attendance at his show in Abuja that he took to Twitter to express his disappointment.

The affected individuals took to social media to express their grievances, revealing that they were granted a just two-hour window to salvage their possessions before the demolition was set to take place.

The abrupt and forceful eviction left many scrambling to secure their valuables and find temporary shelter. Among the affected residents is an individual who, shockingly, paid a substantial sum of N1.7 million just one month ago to secure a place in the now-condemned building. The abruptness of the demolition notice has left this individual, along with others, grappling with the financial burden of securing alternative accommodation on short notice.

The Lagos State government has marked several buildings for mass demolition, citing reasons that remain undisclosed at the time of reporting. The singer who recently celebrated his birthday visited a market in a Agege, Lagos to set smiles on the faces of some locals who were there. He visited several stores, buying some food items such as cartons of spaghetti and giving them out.

The ‘Zazzo’ crooner at one of the stores he visited met a girl who was still in her school uniform. She appeared to be a big fan of Portable as he embraced her and promised to give her N100K. He could be seen trying to make transaction with a POS operator to make the money available to her.

Nollywood actor cum politician Desmond Elliot has said that the resident of Surulere insisted on putting his picture on the bridge he built. desmond elliot Desmond Elliot has come out to clear the air on the controversial wooden bridge known as the ‘Pako bridge’ he constructed for residents in his constituency. During an interview on TVC’s Your View show. the politician was asked why he fixed his picture on the wooden bridge and toilet he constructed for his constituents in 2020. According to him, in  2020 he visited the residents to console a mother who had lost her 13-year-old daughter in a canal. However, while going to fetch the body of the girl, he realized the wooden bridge was weak and hence replaced it. He disclosed that he donated N800,000 to the community for the bridge and they insisted on putting his picture on the bridge as a way to show their gratitude.
