Recall that earlier this month, the police ordered Naira Marley and Sam Larry to be remanded in custody pending investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. Many Nigerians are actively seeking justice for the late Mohbad, especially after the singer died in very strange circumstances and some evidence indicted his former boss, Naira Marley for bullying him repeatedly. This situation seems to aggravate the sister to the musician who cried out on her Instagram story, claiming his detention was done in order to soothe the public. “Detaining Naira Marley without evidence is a violation of human rights” — Shubomi, Naira Marley’s sister cries out“Detaining Naira Marley without evidence is a violation of human rights” — Shubomi, Naira Marley’s sister cries outShubomi, Naira Marley’s sister. In her words; “Keeping someone who willingly traveled back to help in detention for nearly 30 days, with no charge, no evidence, no sufficient witness is a violation of his human rights. Keeping him in custody to appease social media and the internet mob is crazy.” “If you have evidence against him for anything he’s been accused of charge him! But if you don’t release him. It shouldn’t take this long for the investigation to be done.” “We all want the truth! We all want justice. What is the delay? We’ve already lost one person, trying to lynch another is not going to bring about justice😔” Even though Shubomi acknowledges that God is in control, she prays nobody ever gets to experience being accused of an atrocity you have no hand in while trending the hashtag #freenairamarley. Peter Obi addresses suffering, loss of rights of Obidients

Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has written an emotional letter to his supporters, who are commonly referred to as “the Obidients.”

Peter Obi

Obi, who came in third place in the recent presidential election, stated that he and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, were aware of the suffering experienced by his supporters, including verbal abuse, physical attacks, loss of rights and privileges, and online harassment. Obi’s statement was published via a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle on Monday, and it comes after an alleged audio conversation between him and Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church.

"We’re aware of your sufferings, loss of rights, privileges" – Peter Obi addresses Obidients

Peter Obi acknowledged that even those who were once seen as civic leaders and the conscience of the nation had joined in attacking his supporters. He urged them to see the attacks as necessary sacrifices required to create a new Nigeria. While urging the “Obidients” not to give up or be lured into unnecessary conflicts, Obi assured his team that they remain fully organized, focused, and committed to addressing the country’s problems. The former governor of Anambra State added that he and Baba-Ahmed would use all lawful and peaceful means allowed by the laws and constitution to reclaim their mandate to create a new Nigeria. Peter Obi on Sufferings, Loss of Rights and Privileges of Obidients “My Obidients, a very happy Holy Month of Easter and Ramadan to you all. As we celebrate the Easter and look forward to a joyous Eid El Fitr, we pray for God Almighty’s guidance, protection and blessings as we face and pass through a litany of challenges in our dear country, Nigeria- flawed electoral processes, insecurity, weak institutions, multidimensional poverty, unemployment, inflation, lack of justice, fairness, equity, opportunities and many more. “As we reflect on these challenges and look forward to a New Nigeria that is POssible, Datti and I are painfully mindful that for the mere reason of being OBIdient, most of you have suffered vituperations, physical attacks, loss of rights and privileges, hateful trolls, indignities and vexatious fighting words, even from some of those we long regarded as civic leaders and conscience of our nation. Please bear such attacks as the sacrifices that we are all required to make in order to create a New Nigeria, where justice, equity, fairness, love and prosperity shall reign.” My Obidients, a very happy Holy Month of Easter and Ramadan to you all. As we celebrate the Easter and look forward to a joyous Eid El Fitr, we pray for God Almighty’s guidance, protection and blessings as we face and pass through litany of challenges in our dear country, — Peter Obi (@PeterObi) April 10, 2023

Indonesia stripped of Under-20 World Cup hosting rights The decision to remove the Asian nation as host of the tournament starting in May was taken by FIFA after the Indonesian football federation (PSSI) said it had cancelled the draw because the governor of Bali refused to host Israel’s team. FIFA said in a statement; “FIFA has decided, due to the current circumstances, to remove Indonesia as the host of the U-20 World Cup 2023. “A new host will be announced as soon as possible, with the dates of the tournament currently remaining unchanged. Potential sanctions against the PSSI may also be decided at a later stage.”

The loss of hosting rights will be a big setback in Indonesia, where football has a massive following, despite the lack of international success since qualifying for the 1938 World Cup as the Dutch East Indies. Earlier this month, protesters marched in the capital Jakarta waving Indonesian and Palestinian flags and demanding Israel not be allowed to participate. Indonesia’s population is predominantly Muslim. Earlier this week, the PSSI said losing hosting rights would harm the Indonesian football team’s chances of taking part in other FIFA tournaments, while the economic losses would amount to “trillions of rupiah”.

The lawyer revealed that his choice of outfit was an expression of his fundamental human rights as prescribed by a recent judgment of the Supreme Court which permits all Nigerians to display their way of worship and the use of hijab in schools and public places.
The Supreme Court on Friday, June 17, 2022, gave the judgment in an appeal filed by the Lagos State Government that upholds the earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal which ruled that the ban on hijab was discriminatory against Muslim students in the state.

“I am very grateful to the Supreme Court just last week Friday they made a very resounding decision that promotes Section 38 of the constitution. That is our right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion.
“That we are free to express our way of worship in our schools and in our courts. That decision was reached on Friday and that has encouraged me.

“Because I am a traditionalist and this is the way I worship. Based on the decision of the Supreme Court this is how I will be dressing henceforth in court because I am a strong adherent to ‘Olokun’, the god of rivers,” he revealed.
