Senators at the red chamber According to a report by The SUN, the planned purchase is different from the official vehicles expected to be purchased for the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass; Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau; and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu. The Senate Committee on Services saddled with the responsibility of purchasing vehicles for lawmakers, will handle the negotiations and take delivery of them, the report stated. Senate President, Akpabio, had, during the week, constituted the Committee on Senate Services, headed by Kogi West senator, Sunday Karimi. Though the Committee is expected to work with the management of the National Assembly, the purchase is the sole responsibility of the Senate. The Senate Committee on Services is also expected to handle the purchase of two bulletproof vehicles for Akpabio and two for his deputy, Barau. When contacted, the chairperson, House Ad-hoc Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Khadija Bukar Ibrahim, told Saturday Sun that the preoccupation of the House at the moment is the issue of Committees. “We are still concerned with committees. The issue of procurement of vehicles has not come up yet,” Bukar Ibrahim stated. Nigerians have kicked gainst the planned purchase, saying that such sum of money is too much when there are many people suffering in the country. Corleon wrote, “SUV’s is their probs when people can’t even afford a meal…… they all nice and giving palliatives when they fvckn need your votes…….some fvckrs are busy fighting and killing for these fvckers whilst their kids are flying private jets, someone different could have at least tried but they brought tribalism to confuse and control US…..Nigeria is a Scam, wish it never happened to me.” Emmanuel Jacob wrote, “This is the reason why they will do anything to win elections. When you see them hustle for your votes, is not because they want to initiate any meaningful change. They just want to continue with their “wealth without enterprise”.” Ropz_1472 wrote, “Some said Tinubu removed subsidy to save money! Now what even make you all think Nigeria 🇳🇬 lack funds ? Nigeria 🇳🇬 have the money to subsidize fuel so we can buy as cheap as N50 PMS . Subsidy removal wasn’t for the good of the masses but for politicians, to have enough money to loot ..” Jay Scotch also disagreed, saying “Yet, government want to disburse 8k monthly to the poor. I too like Naija government. They have the interest of the people at heart” Dyno said, “okes On You If You Think a Supernatura Power or Force will come to Save Nigeria. Until there are Punishment/Consequences for B.S…… Nothing will Change. This is not Rocket Science. When u Catch Thief, Release Am….U think Other Thieves will Desist?? Lol.” Rosy Throne, “Empowering the youth is never a thing while pple elected there are spending billions, are they serving the pple or they’re serving themselves?? Dear Nigeria politicians”

“APC governors didn’t allow senators make their choices” ― Ned Nwoko

10th Senate: "APC governors didn't allow senators to make their choices" ― Ned Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District has accused governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of intimidating members of the party and not allowing senators on the party’s platform to make their choices in the June 13 National Assembly leadership election. Speaking with newsmen weekend at his Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area, country home during a reception in his honour, Nwoko alleged that the election was not peaceful as it appeared in the public space.

10th Senate:

Senator Ned Nwoko He said, “It might have been peaceful, just like the duck or the geese. When you see the geese in the water floating, you think there is peace, but when you look under the water, you will see the legs going fast. “They say the more you look, the less you see. Yes, the election of the President of the Senate and Deputy Senate President appear to the ordinary people outside that everything was peaceful but it wasn’t fair because APC governors were there intimidating APC members. “They didn’t allow them to make their choices. Many Advisers to the President were there intimidating those they can intimidate, but the bottom line is that it was an APC contest; contest between APC and APC. “If it were the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and APC or Labour Party and APC, I am sure things would have been done differently; so the other candidate for APC, Yari, accepted the result, didn’t he? “Four years is a long time, there are many banana peels. The PDP leadership didn’t make their presence felt, which is regrettable, but l am hoping that in the next few weeks, once we have our principal officers, the Minority Leader, things will begin to take shape.” Nwoko also promised to “work for the people in every sphere, in every sector, in every area, whether it is collective or individual interest we will make sure we make sure we address them from health to education to roads to employment and empowerment of the youths.”

How Tinubu sneaked out, begged senators to vote Akpabio as Senate President ― Ali Ndume

The lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District, Senator Ali Ndume has disclosed how President Bola Tinubu had to make calls, visit and beg some people for Senator Godswill Akpabio to emerge as the Senate President. Ndume said this while speaking on the role Tinubu played in ensuring the preferred candidates of the APC emerged victorious during the election of principal officers of the 10th National Assembly which took place in Abuja on Tuesday. How Tinubu sneaked out, begged senators to vote Akpabio as Senate President ― Ali NdumePresident Tinubu, Hope Uzodinma and Godswill Akpabio Recall that Godswill Akpabio was on Tuesday elected Senate president after polling 63 votes to defeat Abdulazeez Yari, who garnered 46 votes. The lawmaker representing Zaria constituency in Kaduna, Tajudeen Abbas, was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, while Benjamin Kalu from Abia state, was elected deputy. Ndume while reacting to Akpabio’s victor said Tinubu is an “experienced” politician, adding that he convinced many lawmakers to support his preferred candidates. “When I contested last time (2019), everybody was on the other side because the party and president endorsed Ahmad Lawan,” he said. “It is almost a repetition of the same thing, the party and the president had a preferred candidate but this president (Tinubu) is an experienced politician who played a lot of politics. “He deployed his foot soldiers to compliment our (campaign team of Akpabio) efforts and that made a difference. The vice president assisted us. “He called some people. He even went to some people. It is politics. He sneaked out to visit some people and begged them to support. He has his reasons and they were convincing.”
