Legendary Spanish midfielder, Sergio Busquets will be reuniting with former Barcelona teammate, Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. Sergio Busquets who turned down lucrative offers from Saudi clubs, has agreed to join MLS club Inter Miami following the expiration of his contract with Barcelona.

Source: Getty Announcing their new signing, Inter Miami shared a video on social media featuring quotes from Pep Guardiola, Xavi Hernandez, Luka Modric, and Lionel Messi praising Busquets. Busquets spent 15 years at Barcelona, where he won nine La Liga titles, seven Copa del Reys, and three Champions Leagues. He also helped Spain win the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championships in 2012. Earlier, Messi had left PSG following the end of the 2022/23 season after winning the Ligue 1 title. While a return to Barcelona and La Liga was in consideration, the 35-year-old decided to end his time in Europe and move to the US and join Inter Miami.

Source: Getty While the negotiations for multiple former Messi teammates are still ongoing, there is one player that won’t join Inter Miami this summer. Angel Di Maria has decided to go back to Benfica and will sign for the Portuguese club after his contract with Juventus will expire at the end of June. Popular journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the talks are at final stages and only the final details are missing to get it sealed. Di Maria, if it all goes according to the plan, will sign a contract until June 2024 and will be back at Benfica 13 years after his last stint, when he signed for the Portuguese club and started an incredible European journey that led him to play for Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain, and Juventus.

Sergio Rico was taken off of sedation a fortnight ago, only to be put back into a coma a few hours later. The goalkeeper’s wife, Alba Silva, who gave an update on his health while speaking to the Spanish outlet, Telecinco, said her husband has regained consciousness and is on the mend. She said; “We can finally see the end of the tunnel. We’re going there step by step. I knew from the beginning that he would get through it because he’s a champion.” The hospital where he is being treated, the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Sevilla, said updates would only be provided in major developments upon demand of the player’s family.

Ramos signed for the club in 2021 and has made 57 appearances in the PSG shirt. While Ramos was seen as perhaps one of the final pieces of the puzzle to help the Parisian club win the Champions League, he is wrapping up his time in France with two Ligue 1 titles and one French Super Cup title. Announcing his decision to leave after the last match of the season today, Sergio Ramos tweeted; “Tomorrow is a special day, tomorrow I will say goodbye to another stage of my life, goodbye to Paris Saint-Germain. I don’t know in how many places one can feel at home, but without a doubt PSG, the fans, and Paris were one of them for me. “Thank you for two special years in which I was able play in every tournament and give my all. He said; “We would like to express our immense gratitude to Sergio Ramos for the two years he has spent with us. “Sergio’s leadership, team spirit and professionalism, combined with his experience at the highest level, make him a true football legend, and it was an honour to have him in Paris. Everyone at the club wishes him all the best.” After a successful 16-year stint with Real Madrid, where he made 671 appearances and scored 101 goals, Ramos joined PSG on a free transfer ahead of the 2021/22 season. He missed the majority of the first season due to injury and fitness issues. But made a sensational comeback this season with 30 starts in Ligue 1 and featured in every minute of PSG’s Champions League campaign.

Ramos on the other hand, has been linked with several clubs from Saudi Pro League, including Al-Nassr, where his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Rolando captains the team. 
Barcelona has been linked with a move for German midfielder, Joshua Kimmich, who wants to leave Bayern Munich this summer. Mundo Deportivo reported that the Spanish giants are planning reinforcements for their first team squad, which on Sunday, May 14, sealed its maiden La Liga title in four years through a 4-2 away win against rivals Espanyol. 
Kimmich is not only one of the world’s best midfielders, but he can also play at the right back where Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez badly needs cover. Central defender Jules Kounde has been filling in there this season but is expected to occupy his usual area of the pitch soon and especially if Andreas Christensen is moved on. Mundo Deportivo complimented Kimmich for being “very reliable” because of his technical and physical qualities as a “very tactically intelligent footballer”. 
Former Manchester City star Sergio Aguero is currently being investigated for allegedly instigating violence against a referee with his online commentary during a match between Independiente and Racing Club last month. During the Avellaneda derby, the referee awarded the latter a penalty in the first half which helped them to equalize through Matias Rojas. This left the Argentine superstar who started his football career at Independiente fuming. He hurled abuse at the official during a live session on Twitch. “How can he, the referee, what the f**k is his name… Yael Falcon Perez. Listen to me, Yael Falcon, that name is a disaster. You can say [the penalty], it starts outside and ends up inside. But he goes on to say ‘where the first contact is made is where the foul is called’. The truth is that he’s ready to kick the s**t out of this fathead,” he allegedly stated. AS has now reported that Aguero is being investigated by the Agency for the Prevention of Violence in Sport over the remark. 
The agency head Eduardo Aparicio said; “Comments made by the former soccer player, internationally recognised as a supporter of Independiente, Sergio Leonel Aguero, have come out in the media, about the work carried out by the referee Yael Falcon Perez in the match in question, in which there was a disputed play that led to a penalty in favour of the visiting club. “It is necessary to mention that his comments towards the referring authority – aggressive and demeaning – clearly contravene the current regulations on sports safety and could be interpreted as instigating violence. [There have been] threats received by referee Yael Falcon Perez and his family, [and] flares launched at his mother’s home.” This is not the first time Aguero has been caught up in a controversy. He launched a scathing attack at Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier this year after the Swedish forward claimed that Argentina would not win any further World Cups after the departure of Lionel Messi. Moreover, he was called a ‘son of a b*tch’ by Pablo Duggan, an Argentine journalist, after he suggested the dollarisation of Argentina’s economy. 
Barcelona midfielder and captain Sergio Busquets has reportedly turned down a €20 million (£17.5m) per year offer from Saudi club, Al-Nassr. The Saudi club is seemingly trying to reconstruct its team after signing Cristiano Ronaldo weeks ago. It was also gathered that Al-Nassr has shown an interest in Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos, and most recently, Keylor Navas. AS reported that 34-year-old Sergio Busquets rejected the offer even with an uncertain future at Barcelona. 
While there’s currently no deal in progress for Busquets whose contract expires this summer, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has been vocal about wanting to keep the veteran midfielder at the club. It is also understood that former Real Madrid and England star David Beckham is interested in bringing Busquets to his MLS club Inter Miami.
