She attributes her current predicament to the loss of her important documents, rendering her stranded and unable to access the aid she so desperately needs. The Egyptian authorities have finally allowed stranded Nigerians in Egypt who were evacuated from Sudan to enter their border. This news was revealed by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, in response to an earlier report by NIDCOM that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) was ready to bring back Nigerians affected by the Sudan crisis, but they were denied entry at Egypt’s Aswan border.

In an earlier tweet on Monday, May 1, 2023, the agency said, “The Egyptian border still not opened for our students, but the Nigeria Airforce is ready, the NAF C 130 landed in Aswan Airport, and they say “We will not leave without our students.” Six hours later, the agency confirmed in another tweet that Egypt eventually opened its border to Nigerians after President Buhari’s intervention. “With the intervention of President Buhari, Egypt has finally opened its border to Nigerians fleeing Sudan. With an Airforce plane already on the ground in Aswan, Egypt, the processing of the first set of evacuees will begin” the tweet stated. Stranded Nigerians can now get airlifted from the Northern African country to their homeland. UPDATE:

Two lucky fishermen stuck in the middle of the sea found safety in the hands of some naval officers who spotted them. Apparently, the two had gone fishing in their boat which unfortunately capsize, leaving them struggling to stay afloat and alive.

Fortunately, they held on to a floating object, which enabled them to stay afloat the water. They were later spotted at sea by a passing naval both which moved in to save them. A video which surfaced online captures the naval personnel throwing life preserver to them which the swam and held onto as they were pulled out of the water. Watch the video below:

Thousands of Nigerians stranded at Egypt border

About 7,000 nationals, including Nigerians, have been stranded at the border of Egypt over visa-related issues to return to their home country from Sudan. On Friday, 28th of April, the Federal Government of Nigeria urged the relevant authorities along the contiguous borders of Sudan to provide a humane environment for approximately 7,000 nationals, including Nigerians, to travel to their respective destinations without hindrance.

Dabiri-Erewa had previously announced the arrival of the first group of stranded Nigerians in Sudan at the Aswan border in Egypt on Thursday, but due to the border closure, they were unable to proceed to their destination until the following morning when they would be taken to the airport. However, in a statement signed by Gabriel Odu, Publicity Unit, NiDCOM, the chairman said “The Nigerian mission in Egypt has been working tirelessly on this as the Egyptian authorities are insisting on visas by fellow Africans to transit back to their countries. “She appeals to the Egyptian authorities to kindly allow the already traumatised travellers to transit to their final destinations in various countries in Africa.”

He revealed that he sold his 2 houses and cars in Nigeria for the sum of N10 Million naira, so he could pursue a better life in the UK. Unknown to him, the grass was not as green as he thought on the other side. The agent, to whom he paid the money assured him of immediate employment upon getting into the country, but that was not the case. He stated that he regrets leaving his life in Nigeria.
