An Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in Nigeria, Zone 5, Benin, Lawan Jimeta Tanko, dies after a brief illness. jimeta Tanko Jimeta Tanko was said to have given up the ghost today, following a brief illness. Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil confirmed his death in a WhatsApp message on Sunday, 12th of February. According to SaharaReporters, he said: “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. With a heavy heart but total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I wish to announce the d£ath of A.I.G Lawan Tanko Jimeta He died at the Teaching Hospital, Benin Edo State, this morning after a brief Illness. To Allah we belong and to him, we shall return, a real departure of a Godly man.”

Buhari confers GCON National award on Ex-CJN, Tanko Muhammad

On Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on the immediate past Chief Justices of Nigeria, CJN, Ibrahim Tanko.
The gesture follows the resignation of Tanko, who cited ill-health as the reason for his decision.

Worth mentioning, the award is the second-highest national honour that can be bestowed on any Nigerian national.
Speaking during the swearing-in of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as Acting Chief Judge of Nigeria at the State House, Buhari said the award was being conferred on the jurist for the good work he did while at the saddle as CJN.
He added that under Justice Muhammad’s watch the judiciary judiciously exercised its powers in line with the provisions of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ahead of the 2023 elections, presidential candidates like Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Omoyele Sowore among others in different political parties have been advised to unite in order to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, speaking on this submissions, spokesperson of National Consultative Forum (NCF), Dr. Yinusa Tanko on Sunday gave stakeholders a glimpse of hope regarding the possibility of a merger between the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, ENGR. Rabiu Kwankwaso.

In an interview on Arise TV, Tanko affirmed that there is a need for Obi and Kwankwaso who are well rooted in the Southern and Northern region of the country respectively to work together.
Interestingly, the NCF spokesman revealed that if their talks pull through, Nigerians should expect more from them.
