The governorship candidate of the People’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye won his polling unit with a clear gap. Melaye secured 210 votes, triumphing over the All Congress candidate (APC), Ahmed Ododo, who received 22 votes, while Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came in a distant third with 7 votes. The National Rescue Movement, People’s Redemption Party, African Democratic Party, 001, and Social Democratic Party received 001, 002, 001, and 001 votes respectively. A scanty 252 voters were accredited out of the 819 registered voters, indicating a notably low turnout at the polling unit. According to reports, the PDP standard bearer, together with his supporters, had refused to participate in the voting exercise over the accusation of the election being hijacked by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Funke Akindele loses polling unit
Funke Akindele, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate, was defeated at her polling unit by the incumbent governor and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the voting process that took place on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
At Funke Akindele polling unit in Ita Aro Square, Àga/Ijimu ward in Ikorodu, Akindele received 19 votes, while Sanwo-Olu received 77 votes. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party governorship candidate, received three votes, and Funsho Doherty of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) received two votes. So far, Sanwo is leading the polls after winning more polling units, including that of the Labour Party’s GRV.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour loses polling unit to APC
Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has lost his polling unit to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gbadebo voted at polling unit 045 in Anifowoshe, Ikeja LGA earlier today, March 18. The polling unit officer who announced the result said the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 29 votes, while the LP got 18 votes. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came third in the polling unit with 2 votes.
This is coming amid reports of widespread violence, suppression, and intimidation in some polling units in Lagos state. Gbadebo had already disclosed that he will be heading to court should the incumbent Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, be announced as the winner of the election.
Sanwo-Olu wins Tinubu’s polling unit
The incumbent Governor of Lagos State and the All Progressives Congress candidate for the governorship election, Babajide Sanwo-Olu emerged victorious at the polling unit of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is the President-elect.
The polling unit recorded a low turnout, with only 50 out of the 324 registered voters who came out to cast their votes. Sanwo-Olu obtained 43 votes, whereas his strongest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, secured five votes, and the National Rescue Movement had one vote. The APC candidate also won at his polling unit with a landslide result against Gbadebor Rhodes-Vivor and other gubernatorial candidates of the state.
Lagos Guber Election: Sanwo-Olu wins polling unit
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and also the current Governor of Lagos State, wins his polling unit.
He won with a landslide against Abdulazeez Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party LP, at Polling Unit 6, Eiyekole, Lagos Island during the ongoing governorship and State House of Assembly elections. Sanwo-Olu received a total of 121 votes, while Adediran and Rhodes-Vivour managed to secure only one and two votes respectively. After casting his vote, Babajide Sanwo-Olu spoke to reporters and urged for peaceful conduct during the election, expressing contentment with the high voter turnout. “We are happy with the turnout of voters in this election. I was told INEC officials came right on time, and voting is on. “I think it’s time for us to see and understand that this process is not meant to be one of violence. The election that leads to a democratic process is the best form of validating what true democracy is all about. “I want to reiterate that this contest is about peace, progress, and prosperity. Everyone has the right to be able to advocate for everyone to freely express themselves, fairly, and transparently,” he said.

INEC to cancel polling unit in Kwara over ballot box snatching
Malam Attahiru Madami, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Kwara state, stated that the outcome of Polling Unit 10 in Tsaragi will be invalidated due to an incident of ballot box snatching by miscreants on Saturday.
Madami explained to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the decision to cancel the results aligns with the regulations governing the election process. He attributed the delay in the arrival of INEC officials and materials to certain parts of Ilorin West and subsequent disruption in the commencement of voting at the Registration Area Centre (RAC). “It took us up to 11a.m. before will finished the distribution of logistic and immediately I knew we are starting late. I extended the time of voting until the last person on queue voted”, he said According to the REC, ballot boxes were stolen from just one out of the 2,887 polling units in Kwara, indicating a low incidence of such incidents. Additionally, the commission did not utilize vehicles belonging to any of the political parties participating in the election to distribute materials, contrary to rumours.
Tinubu’s campaign Director loses polling unit to Peter Obi
Plateau State Governor and Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Simon Lalong, loses his polling unit to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
The Plateau state Governor voted at Polling Unit 015, Kurumbo ward B in Shendam Local Government Area. After the votes were counted yesterday, February 25, Sowan Paul, the INEC presiding officer in the unit, announced that Labour Presidential candidate, Peter Obi scored 104 votes, APC scored 88 votes and PDP scored 8 votes in the presidential election.
However, the APC won the senatorial and House of Representatives election in the unit. Governor Lalong is contesting for the senatorial seat in the district on the platform of the APC.
