Manchester United won’t win Premier League even with Osimhen
Former Manchester United striker, Andy Cole, has said that the club won’t be able to win the Premier League title even if they sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli. Osimhen is said to be one of the top priority players the English club wants to sign as soon as the transfer window reopens. Andy Cole at a match for Manchester United. Source: Getty The Nigerian international has been in incredible form this season, scoring 25 goals in 31 appearances in Serie A. His goal against Udinese, helped Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years. Speaking to BoyleSports ahead of an FA Cup final match between Manchester United and Manchester City, Andy Cole stated that his former club won’t be able to win the Premier League next season even if they succeed in signing Victor Osimhen. He said; “No, Manchester United can’t win the league next season. It frustrates me when people think that buying two more players, we can then win the league. So why are Manchester City in such a good position if all it takes is buying two players? Make it make sense. Two players, including Victor Osimhen, can’t help Manchester United compete for the league title.

Soure: Getty “Unless Manchester City don’t buy anyone this summer and say ‘we’ll let everyone catch us up.’ Football doesn’t work like that, so I’m honest when people ask if Manchester United can compete for the league title next season, I say no.” Also commenting on Jadon Sancho’s form, Cole said; “Sancho should do whatever he feels comfortable to do. Everyone knows he can be a great player, but sometimes you’re up and sometimes you’re down, that’s football in general. Once you go back to basics, like Marcus Rashford has done this season, you can be fantastic again. Only Erik ten Hag will have the final say on whether he has a long-term future at Manchester United or not. Manchester United need better players to compete for the title, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the summer.”

Gary Neville blasts Glazer family for ‘unprofessionally’ dragging sale of Manchester United
Gary Neville has slammed the Glazer family for the “unprofessional” manner in which they have overseen a sale of Manchester United. United was first put up for sale in November and over the past six months, there has been little progress. The two frontrunners, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain keen and have submitted multiple offers. There are reports that the Glazers could stay put in some form while they are seeking £6 billion for a full sale. Manchester United legend, Gary Neville. Source: Getty With a pivotal summer transfer window approaching, there has been little sign of the takeover being concluded. Manchester United fans have also become worried that the takeover is dragging on too long and could impact their summer recruitment drive. Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has now lashed out at the owners of the club, the Glazer family, for not concluding the sale as soon as possible. Manchester United owners, the Glazer family. Basically any family members staying in would be deemed unacceptable by all fans. Is this why they’re holding off?” Plainly obvious the Glazer family aren’t going to announce anything on the ownership until the season is closed! Leeds United owner reaches agreement to buy Sampdoria
Leeds United Chairman, Andrea Radrizzani is one step closer to owning Sampdoria after reaching an agreement with the current owner of the Italian club, Massimo Ferrero. The Leeds United chairman and his business partner Matteo Manfredi reportedly agreed on a financial package with Ferrero on Tuesday, May 30.

The possible new owners have already promised to invest €10-12m immediately, as well as an additional €30m in capital increase. Radrizzani and Manfredi hit a roadblock recently when Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferrero refused to give the green light to a deal. An initial meeting in Milan produced no results but the pair made it clear that they wouldn’t be giving up in their efforts. However, shortly after the meeting on Tuesday, Radrizzani was quoted saying by Gianluca Di Marzio; “We are nothing short of thrilled to be able to announce that we have completed the acquisition of this extraordinary club.

Former Man United target Quincy Promes prosecuted for smuggling cocaine
Former Netherlands international Quincy Promes is now being prosecuted by the Netherlands Public Prosecution Service (NPPS) for his alleged involvement in importing 1300kg of cocaine into Belgium. Quincy Promes was been accused of being involved in the importation of two shipments of cocaine back to a port in Antwerp in 2020 after police tapped his phone and listened to his conversations.

A pre-trial hearing in the Netherlands will go ahead on June 5. Promes is already being prosecuted for allegedly stabbing his cousin in the knee at a family event. The Spartak Moscow footballer previously denied the allegations but was allegedly heard confessing to the stabbing in a police wire-tap. Dutch prosecutors have demanded a two-year prison sentence for the former Netherlands international in relation to the incident. That trial started on Friday and is alleged to have happened at a birthday party in Abacoude in 2020. Promes has pleaded not guilty and did not attend the opening of the trial while he fulfils his contract in Russia. A charge of attempted murder was dropped by prosecutors amid insufficient evidence.

His lawyer Robert Malewicz has declined to comment on the new allegations levelled against his client but promised to “provide a further explanation during Monday’s hearing”. Promes, who has played for several prominent European clubs in his career including Ajax, Sevilla and FC Twente, was once linked with a move to Manchester United. Back when Louis van Gaal was in charge of the Red Devils, United made an approach to sign Promes from Twente after Van Gaal handed him his first international call-up, only for the winger to join Spartak in a £9.5m move instead. He claimed afterwards that he turned down the chance to join the Premier League outfit as he didn’t feel ready for the move at the age of 23. Promes has won 50 international caps for the Netherlands. He was part of the Dutch squad which was knocked out in the last 16 of Euro 2020. The footballer has not been called up since then.
Manchester United signing Osimhen is a risk
Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has warned his former club to sign English star, Harry Kane, instead of Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen. Osimhen is one of several strikers currently on United’s radar, with Erik ten Hag keen to add goals to his squad and ease the burden on Marcus Rashford. The Nigerian footballer’s 23 goals in 30 appearances helped Napoli to its first Serie A title in 30 years earlier this month.

Source: Getty Harry Kane is Ten Hag’s priority target, but the Reds are looking elsewhere under the assumption that Tottenham will not sell their star under any circumstances, leading them to Osimhen. While Ferdinand admits the Nigerian would ‘tick every box’, the Reds’ former defender believes it would be a ‘risk’ to bring him across from Italy for such massive money. Speaking on his Five YouTube Channel, the retired footballer said; “A number nine is the obvious area that Man Utd need to sort out, we need to get a number in the building. There are two names that keep coming up – Osimhen from Napoli and Harry Kane. Ultimately, it is down to Kane and (Tottenham chairman) Daniel Levy. “If they both say ‘yes, we want to make it happen’, I think Man Utd get it done. The numbers can’t be ridiculous, Levy’s got to be realistic. They’ve got blood, sweat, tears, records, goals, and the lot out of Harry Kane. “Let the guy do what he needs to do now, man. Let him go on and try to compete for Champions Leagues, for championships, for cup competitions.”

However, Spurs are in danger of missing out on European football, while United despite being some way behind Premier League Champions, Manchester City, are at least now assured of a top four finish. Ferdinand added; “If he came to Man Utd, he might not even be competing for a title. It might take another year or two,” Ferdinand continued. “But they’re closer than where Spurs are, that’s the point. “Osimhen is a different kettle of fish. He’s 24, he’s scored goals in France and now in Italy. Won the league (in Italy) and knows how to win leagues. “He’s been a No.9 at a dominant team in the football league. Is that transferable to the Premier League? No one knows that. That’s the chance United would have to take on him. “That’s the only risk I see. He doesn’t know the league – that’s it. Ability wise and profile, goalscoring, he ticks every box, but there is an unknown factor in does he know how to play in the Premier League? Can he adapt to the Premier League? “But I wouldn’t see that as a big risk. I’d take either of those two and I’d be happy but the one thing with Kane, he guarantees you 20 or 25 goals a season. There’s no doubt in your mind he gets that when he comes to Man Utd.”
Manchester United secure Champions League place after defeating Chelsea
Manchester United has been able to book a place in the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League after a 4-1 victory over Chelsea at OId Trafford on Thursday, May 25. Chelsea are 12th on the Premier League table and they’ve set a new club record with a 16th defeat in a 38-game Premier League season to compound finishing in the bottom half of the top-flight for the first time in 27 years. Manchester United will end the league season at home to Fulham on Sunday afternoon while Chelsea hosts Newcastle United.
Phil Jones to leave Manchester United after injury-ravaged 12 years at Old Trafford
English footballer, Phil Jones will be leaving Manchester United at the end of June to embark on a new chapter of his life. Jones who joined Manchester United following a £16million transfer from Blackburn in the summer of 2011, barely featured for United over the past few years due to injuries. The 31-year-old played 229 times, scoring six goals for United and helping them win one Premier League title, an FA Cup, and the Europa League.Trending:Another Nigerian lady set to break Guinness World Record as she begins counting of rice grains (Video) Jones, who is yet to decide whether he will carry on playing, shared an emotional statement confirming his exit on social media. The English footballer wrote on Twitter; “My time at Manchester United has been nothing short of incredible. To wear this shirt just once, to wear this badge and represent everyone associated with it, was an honour. I wish I could have played more. I wish I could have given more to the many squads I played alongside. I will say, from the bottom of my heart, I did everything I could. I did everything the medical team asked of me. I never left a stone unturned in the pursuit of living my dream and having the opportunity to represent Manchester United. It’s not a time to be sad. It’s a time to look back, for me and my family, and be happy that I managed to live a dream at United. There’s no denying that. There is no hiding away from that. My family have been absolutely instrumental in keeping me on the straight and narrow and keeping me focused, to try to get fit and try to play more. And, you know, I’ve missed playing football. I missed it. You grow up playing football and all you want to do is play football. It’s all I’ve known, from such a young age, is to do what you love doing for a living. I’ve been fortunate enough to do that, albeit not as much as I would have liked. “I’ve worked tirelessly hard. I literally left no stone unturned. I tried to get back as quick as I could, every time I was out in the last couple of years. I think the highlight for me would have to be the Wolves game [his return from injury last season], when I came back. That was just a moment that I’ll never forget. It gives me goosebumps now, thinking about it. I mean I worked so, so hard to get to that stage of fitness. That was a huge, huge moment in my career and the fans, that day, were incredible. The love that they showed me for that game, the passion that they showed, was sensational. And I can’t thank them enough for that. They’ve been a constant support throughout my time here.”
Huge blow for Nigeria and England as Folarin Balogun switches allegiance to United States
After months of speculation, Folarin Balogun has finally agreed to represent the United States of America (USA) over England and Nigeria. The 21-year-old made the decision to switch his allegiance having been snubbed by England boss Gareth Southgate. The Arsenal signee, who is currently on loan with French side Reims, was born in the US to Nigerian parents but raised in England. Balogun played for the US at under-18 level, before switching to England’s Under-21s. He withdrew from the squad in March because of injury and will not play in the upcoming European Under-21 Championship. FIFA rules allow players to switch national eligibility before making a competitive senior appearance at international level. FIFA on Tuesday, May 16, announced that Balogun’s switch from England to the U.S. has been approved, paving the way for him to become US Men National Team (USMNT) next star striker. Speaking to US Soccer’s official website, Balogun said the decision was a “no-brainer” and he feels at “home”. He said; “When I broke the news to my family they were all just over the moon, especially my mom. She said, ‘What took you so long?’ “To represent the United States means a lot, more than people would know. I’m very proud and honoured to have this opportunity, and I want to give everything I have to make our team successful.” .@Balogun on what it means to represent the United States 🗯️ — U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team (@USMNT) May 16, 2023 Balogun previously said he’s open to representing Nigeria.
