The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede, has responded to the claims made by Ejikeme Mmesoma, a candidate who recently sat for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Addressing the controversy surrounding Mmesoma’s result, Mr Oloyede stated that investigations conducted by JAMB revealed that the accused candidate “was either duped or she is a member of a high-level syndicate engaged in manufacturing fake UTME results.”

Photo Credit: @google Source:google During an interview with Premium Times on Monday evening, July 3rd, the JAMB registrar stood firm in his position and emphasized that the document being presented by Miss Mmesoma “belongs to another candidate who took the examination two years ago.” Explaining further, Oloyede highlighted a critical point of distinction. He said; “If you scan the code, the candidate’s result will show. So I can say emphatically that the girl is parading a fake result. It is either she is being duped, or she is part of a syndicate manufacturing purported JAMB results. “There are security features on our results, so I can emphasise that the girl is just trying to deceive the public. Her result is completely fake. Her claim that she printed the result from our site is a lie, totally incorrect. If we should reveal all that we know, people will be shocked. So if people are looking for shortcuts to achieve an end, that is what would happen.“

Anambra student celebrated for having highest UTME score faked results — JAMB Ejikeme Mmesoma

Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma In a statement released by the board on Sunday, it was revealed that Ejikeme manipulated her score in order to secure a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors. She was also scheduled to receive recognition from the Anambra State government until now that her deceit was uncovered. The statement reads in part; “The attention of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has been drawn to several publications in both print and online media celebrating certain candidates for being high scorers in the 2023 UTME. “The Board is constrained to set the records straight and wishes to state unequivocally that many of the results which many of these candidates are parading are fake. In many instances, some of these candidates had actually obtained far lower scores than they are claiming and had used some funny software packages to manipulate their results to deceive unsuspecting members of the public. “The most pathetic of them all is the case of Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, who claimed to have scored 362 in the 2023 UTME and was awarded a N3m scholarship by Chief (Dr.) Innocent Chukwuma. She was even set to be honoured by the Anambra State Government when one of its top officials put a call through to JAMB to confirm her claim, only for the Board to reveal that Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma had actually scored 249 and not the 362 she claimed. She had manipulated her UTME result to deceive the public to fraudulently obtain scholarships and other recognitions.” The statement further noted that the board is aware of another instance of fraudulent behaviour involving a candidate who falsely asserted to have obtained an aggregate score of 380 in the 2023 UTME. Punishment for highest scoring Anambra UTME student, others who faked UTME result “We commended the likes of Dr. Innocent Chukwuma and wish to encourage other Nigerians, who desire to invest in the future of genuine youngsters, never to be discouraged but to always ensure that they get the authentic results from the Board as done by the Anambra State Ministry of Education; otherwise they will be celebrating criminality as this is just another new fraudulent method in town. “However, these candidates only succeed in manipulating what they are holding, as the authentic results are with the Board and would be transmitted to their schools of choice at the appropriate time. “It is to be noted that Miss Mmesoma had sent a message to the Board’s platform to request her UTME result, after which she manually inflated her scores and pasted same on the 2022 UTME result sheet. Unknown to her, the Board had changed the design of the 2023 UTME result sheet. Her original result remains 249, as nothing can change that. With this her ignoble act, Miss Mmesoma would be prosecuted and her original result withdrawn. This is not all, as the Board would, in due course, investigate all candidates laying claims to higher scores than they actually obtained. Once discovered, such candidates’ original results would be withdrawn forthwith, and they would be handed over to relevant security agencies for prosecution.”

JAMB announces new date for 2023 UTME

A new date for the beginning of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) has been announced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

JAMB announces new date for 2023 UTME

Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol made the announcement in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday. According to the board, the UTME previously scheduled to commence on April 29, will now start on April 25, 2023. Additionally, the board has rescheduled its mock UTME to take place on April 18, 2023. Statement on New Date for UTME ”It would be recalled that JAMB had earlier conducted its 2023 Mock-UTME on Thursday, March 30 in 725 centres across the country. ” However, the exercise ran into some technical hitches in some centres, thereby denying some candidates the opportunity to sit for the examination. ” The board’s mock examination was designed for the purpose of testing its preparedness and that of its partners for the UTME as well as give prospective candidates the opportunity to have hands-on experience of the CBT test environment. ”It is, therefore, in order to give those candidates, who were unable to sit for the examination owing to no fault of theirs, the opportunity to take the examination that the mock examination had been rescheduled to hold on Tuesday, April 18.” According to Dr Fabian Benjamin, candidates who underwent screening for the examination but were unable to take it will now take the mock examination on April 18. Benjamin also confirmed that the results of candidates who participated in the mock examination on March 30 have been released. ”By so doing, the board hopes that no citizen will be denied the opportunity of exercising their civic responsibilities. ” It should be noted that the board does not have the liberty of shifting forward its examination as other public examinations are billed to commence their exercises in the early part of May 2023. “Yet another factor is the need to accommodate those institutions with stable academic calendar to resume as scheduled,” he added.
