Terry Tha Rapman lets his mind known towards those who find fault in him switching his style to pop, calls them hypocritical, fake hip-hop fans.

Terry tha rapman has lashed out at so called fans and media who have criticised him for making pop music instead of staying true to hip-hop hardcore rap.

The 40 years old rapper lets his thoughts known in a letter he posted on his Facebook timeline, calling them fake fans who don’t go out to purchase rap albums, yet have the nerve to critique when the rapper tries to switch things up by diversifying into other genres.

Compliments of the season everyone. There is this issue I’d like to address as an artist which boils down to the issue of “Be a hardcore rapper & don’t change” and the “Don’t do pangolo music” debate. Being in this game for so long, I can attest there’s something ideologically hypocritical from so-called fans and media who show you no support when you release consistent materials from your acclaimed genre only for them to gnash their teeth at you when you go the other way. Let me go straight to the point!

  1. HIP-HOP (RAP especially) is dead and long gone thanks to fake fans & media who do not support the movt. The so-called fans we are accustomed to in this part of the world only debate who’s a better rapper, who killed who blahblahblah on a song. And this same hypocrite come out to shout “He sold out” when they hear you switch style. For the records, apart from being an artist, I’m human and if I cannot diversify (which I should have done YEARS ago), then I’m in the wrong planet.
  2. I don’t know where people get this debate of “Hardcore rappers don’t sing” or “Rappers don’t go commercial”; Says who? BIGGIE did it with Juice, Pac did it with “California Love”, Eminem/JAYZ have brought in the world’s best singers to sell their songs. What about Drake? Kendrick? J COLE?. Right here in Nigeria, my friends Vector, MI, Ice Prince, Reminisce, Olamide, Falz the Bahd guy,Phyno,Yung6ix have all done that at various times. Please this is not up for debate or a shade at anyone; it is an undeniable fact and by the way shebi “Punchlines o ja wo mo”. 3. Please Stop this debate of “Pangolo Music”; it’s distasteful, weak and moronic. All man must chop, but thanks to our insincerity (a good friend & brother of corruption), we lack and lag. Let me speak for the music industry, this is a country approaching 200million population and with sincerity and not trying to bring another man down, If you like Gospel Music please buy & show support. If you like R&B/Soul, please buy & show support. If you like Rap/Hip-Hop, please buy & show support. If you like Reggae, do the same. STOP this nonsense of shouting artists down when majority of you do not buy materials, you hardly go for concerts of your so-called favourite genres yet you are first to be seen dancing & drooling over the so-called “Pangolo Music” when those artists play them. Vector is releasing an Album, GO AND BUY!! Olamide is releasing too GO AND BUY! Phyno & IllBliss also out! BUY!!! I’ve dropped a new music video, link on my Youtube, my RAP album is coming out early next year PLEASE BUY. Show support (to me or others), not hatred or analysis!

For the records, as much as I have an important legacy to leave, I also have bills to pay. I’ve dropped rap/hip-hop materials that nobody cared or even knew existed despite pushing them to the maximum. Your right as a customer/consumer is inconsequential if you are not even one in the first place, so before you claim to be a fan or pundit and come at me like a stammering esquire, be an ex or a squire! GOD BLESS MY FANS! BANS!
