The premier league resumed today, December 26, after the World Cup break with a match between Brentford and Tottenham.
The match began with Tottenham’s captain, Harry Kane getting taunted by Brentford fans. The West-London club fans were ruthlessly heard chanting ‘you let your country down’ to Harry Kane.
This is coming after the 29-year-old missed a vital penalty in England’s crushing defeat to France at the World Cup.
The chants didn’t seem to affect Kane as he scored his side’s first goal in their 2-2 draw against Brentford who were ahead with goals from Vitaly Janelt and Ivan Toney. He headed home to make it 2-1 before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg equalized.
Harry Kane also made history with his goal in the match. The English footballer has now scored more Premier League goals on Boxing Day than any other player in the competition’s history.
Kane who has 10 Boxing Day goals, has scored in all seven of his appearances on this day.
