Ondo state government has dismissed the claim of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu passing on days after it was reported that he’s ill and in critical condition. Sahara Reporters had reported that the Governor’s family had asked security agents and the politicians around him to turn off their phones to prevent photos of his alleged emaciated look from getting out.

Insiders had also alleged that the second-term All Progressives Congress Governor whose tenure will come to an end in 2025 has refused to hand over to his deputy. The publication reported that a source said; “Governor Akeredolu will be flown out of the country on Saturday for medical treatment. He is in a very critical condition. He was put in the wheelchair of his late mother and he seemed unconscious. “All security agents and a few top politicians around were asked to put off their phones. “His condition is very critical now, which is why he is being flown abroad. He is currently in Ibadan because that is where the family prefers to have him when his condition is critical because of the prying eyes and civil servants in Ondo. “Governor Akeredolu is incapacitated and bedridden in his Ibadan home. His hands and legs are immovable. His wife and kids also abandoned him.

Meanwhile, he has refused to hand over the affairs of government to his deputy.” However, the Ondo state government in a terse five-paragraph statement issued on Saturday, June 3, denied the claim of Akeredolu being dead. They insisted that he is “hale and hearty”. It read; “We have been inundated with calls and messages concerning the state of health of the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. “The governor is hale and hearty. “We had chosen to ignore this wicked fabrication until it appeared that certain persons seek to draw political mileage from the disinformation. “Though the governor has been indisposed, he has been attending to state matters and delegating functions to functionaries of the government, when necessary. “We enjoin the members of the public to ignore the rumour. Aketi is very much alive.”
