Abdoulaye Doucoure’s goal just before the hour mark and a stunning volley by Lewis Dobbin in added time secured the victory for the Toffees, lifting them four points clear of the relegation zone.

The defeat marks Chelsea’s second loss in their last five games, pushing them down to 12th place in the league standings. Reece James, Chelsea’s captain, suffered an injury and had to be substituted less than half an hour into the game. The early setback added to Chelsea’s woes, and despite having more shots on goal than Everton, they failed to capitalize on their opportunities.
