This comes ahead of the March 18 election where Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will compete for the governorship of Lagos against Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, Funso Doherty of the Africa Democratic Congress, Abdulazeez Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party, and 11 others. In a video making the rounds on social media, the incumbent governor was seen exchanging handshakes with members.

"Governor don turn church greeter" — Sanwo-Olu trails reactions following meet-and-greet at church

The gesture of Sanwo-Olu, however, was termed desperate by social media users who mocked the governor for losing confidence in his chances to being re-elected. See some reactions below … @Morris_Monye: “Mr. Governor don turn church greeter. Very nice man. Hope he will still do this after losing the election.” @Bukiemmanuel: “Chief I think you are underestimating this man, what if he is doing all this just to paint a picture that he campaigned while his “dogs” do the arrangements for his rigging and wining?? Just mere thoughts anyways!!” @DonHenzzy: “You fit see Sanwo Olu for Cele church next 😭.” @onyiiubah: “This weather is so hot….. something is telling me to DM Sanwo Olu to get me ice cream 😋…. let the madness continue 🤣🤣🤣.” Watch the video below … Mr. Governor don turn church greeter.
