Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef and entrepreneur, is currently striving to break the Guinness World Records for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”. With over 84 hours under her belt, she has less than 3 hours to go to set a new record.
Baci began the competition on Thursday at 4 pm by turning on her cooker. Her goal is to surpass the 87 hours and 45 minutes record set by Lata Tondon, the current Guinness World Record holder and an Indian chef who accomplished the feat in 2019. The event is being live-streamed on YouTube from Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos, and various celebrities are in attendance to show their support.
On Sunday, Baci reached the three-day mark to the cheers of many attendees. The Cookathon has gained a lot of attention both online and at the physical venue where celebrities are flocking to support the chef.
